ROAR for Santa Kitty Toy Hop

Happy Wednesday everyone! We are participating in the Santa Kitty Toy Hop that Summer came up with. First a big ROAR to Summer (   http://www.sparklecat.com/  )  who wasn’t even born at this time last year and now has us all donating to our local shelters. Good job!

I decided to donate to my favorit local rescue PAL ( http://www.people4animals.org/) . I have been donating my crocheted toys to be sold for their rescue for a few years now, but I had never been to the shelter. It is a very small shelter built on to someone’s home. Don’t let the size fool you though, they save many cats every year. When larger shelters say they are too full, this place won’t turn a kitty away.

I donated some Friskies cans, catnip toys and a big bag of treats with paper cups. A while ago, someone posted how putting treats in the cups and crumpling them is a great toy for cats in cages at the shelter.

005This is me with Ollie- someone was going to meet him last night and I know once they met him, they would want him- he was such a sweetie. 007I got to meet Autumn too, but she was hiding in the back of a cage, poor kitty.

Its not too late to still purchase a cozy bed for your kitty for Christmas and help other kitties at the same time: http://celestialkitties.blogspot.com/2014/11/cozy-kitty-fundraiser-for-winnies-wish.html

Have a great day everyone!

  1. What a great idea! Going to have to try the treats in a cup with my kitties.

  2. How wonderful that you were able to participate!

We missed doing this, but we were happy to see Santa Paws again this year and were able to donate to them. 🙂

    Purrs and peace.

  3. That is so great that you took all those goodies to the shelter. We know those kitties appreciated it a lot. Well done. Have a great day.

  4. I love to spend my time with the shelter cats. Here where I live, we have so many abandoned cats and dogs.
    Beautiful post.
    Nice to share.

    1. Thanks for visiting the blog. That is sweet of you to spend time with shelter cats. There are so many homeless cats everywhere in the world, it is heart breaking.

  5. Ollie looks a lovely boy. I hope it worked out for him and he now has his forever home. The kitties will be very happy with the gifts you took for them.

  6. That is so good to help out a fine shelter like that. They embrue the meaning of the word shelter to the kitties. <3<3 I saw what you sent Flynn. I love him as I did Eric, so much. Thank you for sending him that mancatly scarf and a ball that he loves and can even catch. You rock.

    1. Thank you 🙂 Flynn is a sweetie, I wish I had been blogging when Eric was still with him, but I enjoy the flashbacks on Thursdays.

  7. Hope Ollie got his forever home. We had a cat named Autumn before I was here. She was Pop’s cat. I’ll bet some of those cats haven’t had treats in a long time.

  8. It’s wonderful of you to donate toys & food & treats to the kitties, and to go visit and give them some lovin’. I’m sure they appreciated all your efforts.

    1. Thank you, I enjoyed seeing the kitties, but it breaks my heart that I can’t take them all home.

  9. We know the kites were all smiling because of you! We hope Ollie found his forever home!
Our Mama donates to two shelters here regularly. We just donated a few boxes of blankets, towels , medicine, food, toys and other stuff recently. Every little bit helps! 🙂
