Nosey Rosie’s Gabfest

Hi everyone. It has been quiet around here.

The kids all ended up sick because the idiot person who hosted the Christmas Eve gathering they attended neglected to mention she had been sick the day before. How rude. Although it worked out well for me.

Grammie is planning to go back to her place soon. I don’t understand why she doesn’t want to stay here with all of us forever.

I forgot to tell you about the near-death experience I had a couple weeks ago. I snuck out to the eclosed porch. Mom doesn’t let us out there because she is afraid we could sneak outside, but I wanted to see if she was storing any of our Christmas gifts out there. I snuck past Dad and he never noticed.  It was only about 20 degrees out there and I was freezing. I tried to crawl under the blanket on the couch out there.  For those 10 minutes, my little life passed before my eyes.

Everyone has been pretty good. Rudy did steal half of Dad’s oatmeal and all the milk though.

Well, that is all I have for this week. Penny will be here next week with some money saving tips to start the year off right. I wish you all a happy and healthy new year.

PS:

Make sure you have some black- eyed peas on New Year’s Day for good luck.  Angel LouLou’s mom has a great recipe, click here.

Mom didn’t add any wine or beer to them, but she followed the rest of the recipe and they look pretty good. Mom removed the carrot and celery when they were done.

  1. Comprehensive report, Rosie! I’m sorry to hear the kids got sick and I hope they are all soon well! Yikes at you being out in 20 degree weather! That recipe from Loulou’s Mom does look good! XO

  2. Oh, wow, merci, Ms E for putting in mama’s recipe and you don’t need booze in it or even the carrot or celery, they are just for a little more body and flavor, plus you can eat the carrot and celery while you’re waiting, haha. Maybe don’t put in the wine either and ….
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all and to all a safe and healthy year. ❤️

  3. Oh, sweet, Rosie, being out in 20-degree weather was scary. I’m sorry to hear the kids got sick and hope they feel better now. Happy New Year to all!

  4. Rosie that was a lesson learned the hard way. Going outside the door to where you don’t belong. My goodness you could have had frostbite on your nose. The black eyed peas look yummy and we do have some here. Happy New Year to everybody in your household.

  5. Here the custom is to have pork and sauerkraut for New Year’s Day. Brings you luck as a pig forges forward and a chicken scratches backward. I’ve heard of the black eyed peas too (the food not the singing group although I’ve heard of them too!) 🙂 Have a great holiday!

  6. Mom said she loves black-eyed peas! She forgot to get any and while she does have seasoning pork to cook them in, she thinks she may just get a can of them instead. Rosie, how awful that you sneaked out onto the porch. Thank heavens you didn’t get any farther away! And that other lady who was sick and went on with the party should not have. Germs live for a while on surfaces, and as those kids did, someone there can get sick. By the way Rosie, you look precious in your picture. Mom said she is sending an air kiss right to you!

  7. Glad you survived Rosie boy quiet you lucked out, but I bet kids, and their parents don’t think so

  9. Sorry the kids got sick 🙂 Hope they are feeling better. It’s good news Grammie is feeling well enough to go home. She will still see you often and bring treats and love! Oh Rosie… LOL! I bet it was skeery but All is well. The black-eyed peas recipe sounds good… I will follow the link.

  14. Sorry the kiddos ended the year being sick. And also that you nearly froze to death. Yikes. You must have thought being out on the porch was an eternity. Glad you survived. Everyone at the Ranch wish you a safe and happy 2025.

  15. Charlee: “Ten minutes out on the porch?! That sounds like an eternity!”
Chaplin: “Our Mama and Dada have been trying to avoid getting sick! They even skipped where they usually go for Christmas because someone there had had the flu earlier. Mama doesn’t want the flu!”
Charlee: “Have you tried climbing in your Grammie’s lap and just not leaving? That usually immobilizes humans and should keep her at your place indefinitely.”
