I am going to be turning the big 5-0 this month and I have been dreading it, but this new song ( well, it is about 4 months old) makes me feel better about it .Rob Thomas is my favorite singer ( other than Sinatra).

I love the line, ” I’m not afraid of getting older. I’m one less day from dying young. ”

And Brody hopes he is Awww….worthy.

  1. That is a great line from your favorite song Miss Ellen but you are younger than springtime and shouldn’t be thinking about getting older or turning 50! My Mom is over 20 years older than you and says “age in years is irrelevant – it’s how old you feel that matters”. As for that Brody guy – Mom says he is definitely “aw-worthy” and he looks happy too……!!

    Hugs, Teddy

  2. Happy Birthday Mom Ellen as soon as it gets here! And many many more too. I hope there is a birthday cake involved!

  3. Ellen,

I had more issue with turning 30 than I did 50. Actually, I felt rather proud to hit the big 5-0 mark. I mean, I didn’t feel one bit like I was ‘middle age’ emotionally or physically. Now that the close of this decade keeps getting closer I’ve learned to embrace the glitter in my hair instead of trying to cover it. I accept my limitations but continue to fight the aging process. I strive to enjoy the things that bring me great pleasure each day instead of allowing worries bogging me down. That will make a purrson not only feel old but look it. Count your blessings that you’ll soon turn another year older because the alternative in 6-feet below ground. 😉 Happy almost birthday and thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor. Have a boogietastic week, my furriend!

  4. Awesome tune… Awesome!!!
Brody is a cutie and definitely awww-worthy! Tongue stickie-outie!
50 is good! I didn’t dread birthdays until I turned 60 and now I am happy I am here for another birthday!

  5. This just might be the best song that I will hear today. Certainly at 72, I am past the point of dying young but with a faith and hope in Jesus Christ, I know that I will step into eternity and life everlasting. Have a very blessed day and rejoice in life on that day that you experience your 50th anniversary on this planet.

  6. Love the video. You’re a youngster. I’m looking at 70 and life is awesome.

    Brody is a huge Awww.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

  7. That is just another great milestone in your life. I passed the 50 mark many years ago 50 is a good number and year. Brody is adorable and we love that little tongue sticking out. I really like that song and he is a great singer…thanks for sharing. Hugs and nose kisses from Chancy and me.

  8. I love Rob Thomas too! Did you know he is raising money for no-kill shelters with a concert? Just makes you love him more, doesn’t it?

You will LOVE your 50’s – it’s the funnest age so far! Welcome to the club, now get your party on girl!

  9. We love this song and that is a great line. Dad is a few years past that big 5-0 and says that life gets richer if you remember to everyday pour a little cream on top. Brody you are Awww fur sure

  10. Brody, you are definitely Awww worthy. We love that song. We haven’t heard from Rob Thomas is a while. Hope you have a wonderful birthday coming up. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day.

  11. “Oh the years are rollin by me
    They are rockin evenly
I am older than I once was
    Younger than I’ll be
    That’s not unusual
    It isn’t strange
    After changes upon changes
We are more or less tha same
After changes. we are more or less the same.”
    -Paul Simon “The Boxer”

  13. Happy Birthday, Early!

Turning 50 isn’t a bad thing. You’re getting closer to claiming all of those ‘benefits’ and discounts.

I used to have a crush on Rob Thomas back in the day.. excellent choice!

  14. We’d not heard that song before either. Our mom is way over 50 and thinks she’s still 42. Then she sees a mirror and thinks, “Crap.” Don’t tell her we told you that.

  15. Well if it makes you feel any better dad turned the big 5-0 almost 8 years ago, and he loves that new Rob Thomas song.

  16. Granny had more trouble with going 40, but 20 years later it’s only a number 😀 🙀Great lyrics indeed, miss Ellen ♪♫♪ and Brody you’re beyond Awwdoarble <3 Extra Pawkisses🐾😽💞

  17. I know what you feel even tough I still have a few years to get there. When I turned 40 I felt the same way. But we have to look at this from a positive side, having one more year it means we’re still around 🙂

  18. I wish I’d had that song for my 50th!! 50 is not so bad – just do something fun that you won’t forget (I took my sisters and girlfriends on a trip to Maine). I found turning 40 to be worse, and I’m really dreading 60!! LOL

  19. I really enjoy inspiring songs like this. And you made me realize how long it’s been since I’ve listened to a Rob Thomas song. I do enjoy his music, so I’m certainly glad you shared this. And don’t worry about your age. It’s just a silly number that has no right to tell you how to feel. Happy birthday month!

  20. That’s a great way to think about it. TW thought she would die young but she’s still ticking. She’d do anything to be 5-0 again.

  21. Well, being just a little younger than Driller I can tell you there is nothing to fear in turning 50. In fact, I wouldn’t mind being 50 again, but I digress. You picked such an eventful year to be born into. It’s too bad you aren’t old enough to remember it!
