It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

Hi everyone! I was planning to write about the Kindle book I was reading, but I didn’t get to finish it yet. I have others to write about though. We are joining Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? and Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays.

I loved The Penny Poet of Portsmouth by Katherine Towler. Please don’t tell Penny that the poems are not about her πŸ™‚ The author tells of her friendship with a man in Portsmouth who was very different from her, but they had poetry in common. It really made me think how true it is that we can’t make assumptions about people. It is a beautiful story of friendship that anyone would enjoy.

I am almost done with Kate Mulgrew’s memoir, Born with Teeth. Many of you know her as Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager. I have enjoyed this book and her writing style.

Next week, I will write about a cat book.

  1. Mom misses reading – somehow blogging and LIFE seem to take up all her time – she used to read ALL THE TIME…….sigh. Oh well……she also seems to think taking me for constant walks cuts into her reading time. Pooey.

    Love, Teddy

    1. Your walks are more important than reading Teddy. XO and love to you and your mom too!

  2. It’s been a while since i read a biography and i always liked Mulgrew, i think i will check that one out. Thanks!

  3. I’m reading “Night War: the Dark Side of Dayton” by local Ohio writers. The somewhat interconnected short stories are pretty intriguing. Happy reading!

  4. I’m at about 25% in two different books right now. Neither is grabbing me enough to make me want to concentrate on it. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  5. Awww on the kitty. I love all things kittens and cats.

    1. She would like both of these books even if there is no mystery or murder πŸ™‚ XO and all Phoebe’s love

    1. I will read anything with a cat, but I prefer non fiction, especially memoirs. XO

  9. How is the memoir?
I was listening to the audiobook for a while, and fell away from it.
I cannot wait to hear what you’re thinking.
    Read long and prosper. πŸ˜‰

  10. I am not reading any books right now. Trying to stay caught up with comments on blogs. Too much errand running and “stuff” getting in the way of my blog browsing… πŸ™‚

  11. The Born with Teeth book sounds like it might be a fun read. Our kids loved the Voyager series of Star Trek. I liked all the series except Enterprise. That was too different for me. Have a great day.

    1. You would like Born with Teeth. I didn’t like Deep Space Nine, but I liked the rest.

  12. I am like Teddy’s Mom…I used to read tons…but alsa not much reading other than blogs, and catalogues. I have a novel about 1/3 read in my car, don’t even have the chance to have at that either. I used to do a lot of reading at my sons’ music lessons, and while waiting for them at school…Sometimes I pick up a magazine at my work breaks.

    1. I used to read a lot waiting for my niece to come from dance or soccer too πŸ™‚ I miss those times. but at the time, I found it an inconvenience.
