Hopping Saturday

Happy Saturday everyone! I am using the same photo for The Lazy Pit Bull’s #52 Snapshots, theme “bokeh”Β  and Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop.

bokeh

This is Sammy’s photo on the first day of Hanukkah last year. A much clearer version is in the Holiday issue of Catster on page 28. I will admit that I had to look up the word bokeh and I know I didn’t get it quite right, but it is the best I could do with my limited editing skills. Bokeh is a blurred photo where one thing is clear and I couldn’t figure out how to make one part clear. I used Lunapic, blur effect.

The real art is my new header. Thank you to my friend Jamie who is an excellent graphic designer. Here is the link to his DiverseDesigning

  1. Absolutely love your Christmas header. Sammy looks adorable in his yarmulke with the menorah. Several of the free, on-line editing programs have bokeh effects you can add to photos. The photos are blurry but also have shapes overlaying your photo. Check PicMonkey. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    1. Thank you for letting me know about the bokeh effect, I could not find one anywhere. I will try Pic Monkey. XO

  2. A lot of humans don’t know what bokeh means – I think it was a silly word to use since mostly only photographer humans know what it is… or how to create it.

    1. It was an odd choice compared to all the other words in the challenge. This one was truly a challenge πŸ™‚

    1. I didn’t do it correctly, bot a lot of others did so hopefully your Meowmy will see some of those. Thank you for the compliment on the header πŸ™‚

  3. I think it’s easier to start with a clear picture and then blur the background . I don’t have Photoshop but I know there are filters that will do that.

    1. You are a great writer and I am sure you will do a fine job editing photos. By the time we shopped Friday morning all the crazies were back home in bed πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you for the compliment on the header and Sammy thanks you too πŸ™‚ Always fun learning something new.

  4. That’s a pretty awesome bucket list. I hope that you will be able to grant it one day and make it happen! Good luck. πŸ™‚

  5. I love your new header!! Bokeh is usually achieved by having your camera’s f-stop wide open like f1.8 or f2.4. That makes the subject in focus and the background soft and blurry. If your camera doesn’t allow you to set f stop, then you have to use photo editing software to kind of fake it.

    1. Thank you for letting me know how to do it. My cheap camera doesn’t do that so I guess I have to fake it. πŸ™‚

  6. You better hurry, old Nick Cage isn’t getting any younger. MOL! If’n I see him in da hood, I’ll send him your way. Concats on the Catster thing.

    1. Yes,please send him my way or tell him to wait there and I will go to him. πŸ™‚ Thank you about Catster, Lucy was in it right before she went to the Bridge so I hope Sammy doesn’t have bad luck now too.

  7. I think this week’s theme was a tough one! I had to look up bokeh in several different places before I really understood what it was all about.
Happy Hanukkah and I LOVE your Christmas header!

    1. Same here about the bokeh and I am still not sure. Happy Hanukkah to you as well. And thanks for the compliments on the Christmas header.

    1. Sammy says thank you and he hopes to see you in yours for Hanukkah πŸ™‚ Paw pats to you too.

  8. Haha blur is not an effect I have to try for πŸ™‚ it happens most of the time! I love your new header. Your friend is very talented.
