This is the post I knew I would have to write but hoped I wouldn’t have to for a long time. I prayed for a miracle. Now I realize I had my miracle by getting to be Sammy’s mom. He was such a special boy and he loved me the most (all the other cats prefer my hubby). He always wanted to be with me and I spent more time with him than anyone else in my life even my hubby.

We tried to buy time with the thyroid food, but his kidneys couldn’t tolerate it. The kidney food was keeping him stable, but his body was being eaten away by the thyroid. He couldn’t even close his eyes all the way.  Over the weekend, he got even weaker and we knew we would have to say goodbye. His Dad and I were with him and I cut off a big chunk of my hair to go with him because he always slept in my hair.

Into our lives they come on furry feet
Full of love, and life, they are so sweet
They are part of our soul and our heart
We can only just barely stand to be apart!

The sadness fades as our angels console
Memories are permanent – they never go away
The joy of having Sammy will FOREVER stay.
He loved to help decorate the Christmas tree.
Sammy was a proud Cat Scout since 2014.
He was a great hat model
He loved all the holidays.
He loved to help assemble things.
He really enjoyed rolling in catnip.

 

He loved corn on the cob.

 

He looked extra handsome in a sweater.

 

And his favorite spot of all was sleeping in my hair all night.

My life will never be the same without my Sammy.  I was so blessed to be his mom.

I will start posting again next week.

  15. It seems odd to “like” this post. I’m so sorry and my heart goes out to you for your loss. He was a beauty and will be missed. Our Bridget just turned 16 years old and she has kidney issues too. I know her time is coming……
    On a lighter note, our daughter and two grand girls just adopted two rescue cats to add to their family. 💜

  26. I am always at a loss to think of any words that would help relieve the burden of your grief, because I know how shallow they are at a time like this. All I know is that there is no feeling as emptying of our hearts as that of a beloved being in our lives. I truly am deeply sorry for the loss of your dearest Sammy.   42. I would give anything if I could say the words I am feeling so deeply for you but they just won’t come. I love your Sammy like he was my own – as did so many others who knew him. I know FOR SURE he had a huge welcome committee at the Bridge though because he had so many friends and admirers – one of whom was “my” Sammy. I know the pain – but I also know in time it turns into a bearable ache. I’m equally sure he will let you know in some way he’s ok………….
