Happy Year of the Rooster!

Hi everyone! Happy Chinese New Year!  This is the year of the rooster, which happens to be my sign. It is odd that there is a dog, but no cat. Yesterday, I read on another blog an interesting and fun explanation as to why that is. To  read about it click here.

I like having the new year start later in January, maybe I will finally start working on some of my goals for 2017. And if I don’t, there is always the Jewish New Year in September.

We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. I used Photofunia to make a fortune cookie for all of you.

  1. Happy Chinese new year to you too! My favorite way to celebrate is with some Chinese food but the restaurants are so packed already. I think the Tiger is close enough to the cat, but the story you linked was interesting indeed. I am year of the Dragon but I don’t think it matches me very well.

  2. Roosters…….they’re kind of bossy and noisy but they ARE pretty darn close to yummy chicken so I say YAY for the YEAR OF THE ROOSTER!

  3. I like your view of it. Now we have a second chance at making the new year count! And I guess now it does make sense to us that there is no year of the cat. A kitty’s gotta sleep! Purrs to all of you!

  4. Thanks for the link. What a fun story, and now Mom feels better about being the sign of the Ox. Ooh, we hope the fortune cookie predicts the truth. 2016 was cr@ppy. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

  5. Oh, I definitely needed a delayed new year too, this is perfect! It didn’t take long into the new year for all my plans to go awry, so it’s good to know I can start all over again now.

  6. Happy Lunar New Year! We saw some great fireworks the other night. They were too loud though. Love the art idea. Pop always manages to get the best fortunes like “you will be hungry soon. order takeout” and “dogs have owners; cats have staff.” Those were his real fortunes.

  7. Happy year of the Rooster guys!!

The P.A. already read her ‘monkey’ horoscope and dads ‘sheep’ horoscope fur the rooster year then wished she hadn’t!!! MOL MOL She says she’s going to stick with Astrologyzone.com MOL

  8. Mom’s not sure what sign I am since I was already adult cat when she adopted me. I like your reader’s comment that in Vietnam they “Celebrate the Cat.” I need to visit there! Mom likes to buy Chinese New Year stamps as a tradition she started in our household. I hope your kitties have good fortune all year!
