Fun in NYC

Happy Monday everyone! Today is fun and games day so I thought I would tell you about the fun my hubby and I had this past weekend. We were privileged to meet Michelle and her husband, Craig of My Three Moggies ( https://mythreemoggies.wordpress.com/) . My hubby and I had a great time talking with them and wished they lived closer. I hope we can meet again sometime.

054I wore my cat sweater so they could spot us 🙂 055They even brought us some cute tins to store cat treats in.

We had hoped to meet at the Meow Parlour ( NYC’s first and only cat cafe), but you need reservations well in advance and our schedules didn’t fit so we went Friday and Michelle was going Saturday.

The Meow Parlour is a wonderful idea to help get cats adopted. There were 10 adoptable cats living in the Meow Parlour which is a nice space that has been catified with wall shelves, hiding spots and pillows. Of course I fell in love with one of the residents, Franklin: 032031There is a folder with their stories and he was found on the street and x-rays showed he had been run over an had a shattered pelvis. He was such a lovebug and let me rub the belly. I wish I could adopt him, but with that sweet disposition, he will get snatched up in no time.

Here are some more photos:005 034021NY state law doesn’t allow food prep near animals so the cafe is in another building which is a short walk away. You simply purchase your stuff ahead of time and bring it in with you. They even had cat shaped cookies :011You don’t have to bring a snack with you, that is optional, you can just go spend time with the kitties.

We went at 3PM which must be nap time. There were only a few cats moving around and everyone was hogging them. I was a little frustrated knowing I have 15 cats at home that want my attention. If you need a cat fix, I recommend you check it out. I do want to warn you that it isn’t in a great spot, it is one street away from Canal St. I wish it was more midtown, but I am sure the rent would be too high. If you want to check out more about it , the link is: http://www.meowparlour.com/concept .

Tomorrow I will post some of the kitties available for adoption for the Opt to Adopt hop.

  1. How awesome that you got to meet blogging friends in person! Thanks for the information about Meow Parlour. It really is a wonderful idea for helping to get kitties adopted. 🙂

  2. My human really wants to go to Meow Parlour next time she is in NY! She would probably like the area – she is more of a downtown girl.

  3. Ah, finally! I’ve been looking forward to reading about your NY trip. (btw: great sweater and lovely pictures!)

I’ve to confess that I’m having difficulties to picture how this cafe is working. Are the cats stressed by people hogging them?

    1. Thank you 🙂 The cats don’t seem to mind and they have lots of places to hide and can even get into a room that we can’t so they aren’t stressed.

  4. What fun! We just were reading Craig’s travel blog and saw a photo of the four of you together……we’re excited to see them next week. Sounds like you had a lot of fun……..I think it’s great that the kitties at the café are adoptable and I do hope that one guy who caught your eye gets his forever SOON!

    Hugs, Sammy and Pam

  8. Yippee for meeting blog friends! Our mom says that is very special indeed. And visiting a cat café too! We wish every city would create one of those!

    1. It is fun to meet blogging friends. I agree, every city needs a kitty cafe. 🙂

    1. My hubby wants to go back in May to the Intrepid Museum, maybe we can meet on that trip. I could even take a bus to NJ.

  11. Hello Ellen I am so glad you got to meet Michelle & Craig!! That is so cool.
The Cat cafe sounds great & I hope it is a success.
I can see why you fell for Franklin….he has charisma!
Sorry we have been AWOL> there has been some family trouble I had to deal with plus the broken fridge & the intense cleaning for inspection…
I am beyond exhausted I can tell you!
Tomorrow & Wednesday will be just as crazy so if we are not around plz know we are not ignoring you!
(((HUGS))) Sherri-Ellen & **nose kissess** Siddhartha Henry xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. Michelle and Craig were very sweet. I hope your family trouble gets better and good luck with the inspection.

  12. We had much fun with Michelle and Craig this morning! They are such nice people–almost all of us came out to say hello…even Daddy!

Mommy thinks every city needs a Cat Cafe–how cool that you got to visit one!

    1. They are very nice people, that is so nice that almost all your kitties came out to greet them. I agree, every city needs a cat cafe.

  13. Wowee, a Cat Cafe!
You got to meet fellow bloggers that is furry spawsial! Meowmy once met a family she knew from her dogster days.

One of the shelters here has a huge room to meet and greet the kitties, and you can meet them all or just a single one, your purrfurence…and the kitties, MOL! at room is like a large lounge…and all the windows are having big sills that double as cushioned napping spots…

    Have a great week!

  14. Hi Ellen: We passed the inspection with flying colors thankfully!
The fridge is working better now than it ever has so that is a relief.
The family trouble has not been resolved but there is nothing I can do from 350 miles away so I am turning it over to G-d’s care & hope the family will be safe.
Tomorrow Siddhartha Henry & I shall be at Sheila’s all day as the fire alarm test is going to be ongoing & noisy!
I cancelled my medical appointments this week.
I need a break & Siddhartha Henry needs his ‘Mumma’…
    (((hugs))) Sherri-Ellen

    1. I am happy to hear your inspection went well and the fridge is working. You are right that you can’t do anything from so far away, hopefully everything will work out. That is sweet of you to take Siddhartha Henry out for the day being that the alarms would be scary.
      Hugs to you too 🙂

  15. Dat’s pawsum dat yous got to meet fellow bloggers, and meet da kitties. We hope they find pawsum homes fur all of ’em.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Lexi

    1. It was nice to meet Craig and Michelle. I hope all the kitties get forever homes soon.

  16. I know my mom has said and said how she wishes that we had such things here. She’s be there when she wasn’t here with me.

  17. What fun to meet your blogging friends and go to the cat cafe, so cool, bet you had an awesome time in NYC, huh?!

  18. How cool that you got to make cat friends (two and four legged).
“doesn’t allow food prep near animals” Ut oh, glad I don’t live in NY. They’d condemn my kitchen!
    xxoo

  19. Hello Ellen: I totally agree about the family situation. I am powerless over all of them & if they can not figure things out it is their problem. Everytime I try to help I am pushed away more. (Ongoing situation…nothing new…)
I am releived that insepction is done; things fixed; fridge working. The Hydro lin is no longer sparking since I asked for a repair man to look at it late Monday night.
And how anyone could subject their cat or dog to such noise is beyond me!!! Their hearing is far better than ours & I feel like my ears will bleed when that blasted alarm goes off for a few minutes……
I have had 2 offers for NEXT March already, so I know we will have somewhere to go…..
I think Siddhartha Henry was a bit scared at Sheila’s thinking he was going back to the farm…..when we got home he romped around here like he’d been gone for a week or two, hahahaha….
    Funny kitty boy 😉
    (((hugs))) Sherri-Ellen

    1. Poor little kitty Purrince, I bet he was glad to get home. That was smart and sweet of you to remove him from all that noise. Hugs to you too 🙂

  20. I think once he realized he was not going ‘somewhere else’ Siddhartha was all right. I could not bear him being subjected to all that racket….people in here actually went out & LEFT their dogs or cats alone! Unbelievable isn’t it Ellen?
    Sherri-Ellen

    1. That was really mean to leave their pets behind to hear that. Siddhartha is lucky to have such a loving Mum. XO

  21. Hi Ellen I can’t handle the screeching fire alarm so how could I subject a 7 lb cat to that noise? Plus a cat/dog’s hearing is so much better than ours. Those poor 4 leggeds! I just do not understand people sometimes!
    ((hugs)) Sherri-Ellen

    1. I agree, I pity the poor critters that had to endure that noise. Hugs to you too 🙂
