Friendly Fill-Ins Week 75

Hi everyone! Time for The Friendly Fill-Ins. Make sure you add your link at McGuffy’s Reader, you can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate.

1. Keep calm and ____________________.
2. _______________ disappoints me.
3.                           is my                            .

4. In retrospect,                                   .

My answers:

  1. Keep calm and hug your cat *

2. Nic Cage’s choice of movies to act in disappoints me. I was so excited to have a new DVD from the library last Saturday called Arsenal, but we only watched 10 minutes of it because it was so violent ( and I like mob movies so I am not squeamish).

3.Rescuing cats is my calling in life.

4.In retrospect, I should have majored in something other than Elementary Education in college like English /Writing.

I am also joining Feline Friday being hosted by Comedy Plus.

  1. I always love to read your answers. They are so genuine that they make me smile. Yes, I hug my cats a lot…they might think too much. Well, not all of them mind. *wink* I love old gangster movies. I am a serious Cagney fan, and Bogie, too. But, yes, I liked the old ones…before things got so graphic and gory. I like Millie on the pedestal. Cute! Maggie thinks she should still have one, like she did in the CFA shows. Ha! HUGS!

    1. Thank you. I am sure my cats think I hug them too often. I agree the older movies are less gory, they let us use our imagination 🙂 Millie thanks you and Maggie would look nice on one. I didn’t know she had been a show cat. XO

  2. First, I want to say Meow to Prancie who is bravely stepping up to be Queen. We think you will do a really good job, Prancie, and we also think (well the Human does, I myself do NOT) that maybe you should stop torturing your nice Daddy. He looks like a keeper.

Second, we is just horrrrrrrrrrrible at visiting, but the Human says that pretty soon we is going to work out a System for when she retires at the end of the school year and THEN we will try to improve! She’s super unreliable.

    1. Keep calm and open a jar of Gerber’s.
    2. Nearly every Human disappoints me.
    3. Game of Thrones is my guide to proper ethics.
    4. In retrospect, I probably shouldn’t have bitten down so hard. .

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I need to get some Gerbers in our house. I know your human is busy, but I do look forward to more visits when she retires. And Prancie thanks you, but has no intention of not torturing her Dad.:)

      1. Awwww. I will need to spend some time combing through your archives to learn more about how you ended up with so many cat-bosses.

I’m very interested in how they all co-exist too.

        1. Most of them get along, but we do have some zones. Calming collars and feliway plug-ins help a lot too.

          1. I use the Sentry brand, Chewy has the best price on them. I have one cat that has a room of her own at night, but mingles during the day. Two live in the kitchen because they pee in wrong places, 3 have the upstairs, but visit downstairs and the rest have the main area with the livingroom and bedrooms.

  3. Millie looks very good on that pedestal.
Loved your answers and now have put Arsena on my ‘ignore’ list.
M is claiming that he should have answered the first 2 and had Purrseidon answer 3 & 4 … he is confident he could have come up with hug a cat instead of Purr’s breath, even though Xander is always trying to appear calm by breathing and counting to 10…

    1. Millie thanks you and I do too. Definitely skip Arsenal. I enjoyed Mr. M’s and Purrseidon’s answers.:)

  4. Our answers to #1 and #4 are very similar. Though I try not to have any regrets, I do sometimes wish I had chosen a different major in college. And what a wonderful answer to #3. You do so many wonderful things for kitties!

  5. Oh yes………you are the perfect kitty rescuer and bless you for that! You’ve given happy and secure lives to so many. Millie looks FABULOUS on top of that pedestal – he knows that while Prancie might be the new Queen around there, he just might be the KING! LOL Love your fill-ins – always do.

    Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

  6. Hugging a cat does help one keep calm, especially when they are purring. 🙂 I love that you rescue cats! They are so lucky to have you. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Ellen!

    1. Thank you. I am lucky to have them, each one has improved my life in different ways. I hope you have a nice weekend too.

  7. Your fill-ins are terrific. We certainly are so glad that you love rescuing cats. We do too, but we can’t fit any more in here right now. We are very thankful that you do save so many. Good job Millie getting top of that scratcher. Have a great day.

  8. Keep Calm and hug your cat–Yes!!! I tried majoring in English in college and was just bored with it. I ended up (20 years later) majoring in ancient studies and now am an editor/writer, which is what quite a few English majors do, so go figure. 🙂

  9. Keep calm and hug your cat is an excellent idea.

Millie deserved to be on a pedestal. Just saying.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday. ☺

  10. Mau are you tryin to look like a GREEK g-d Millie? Reegal on a pedestal?? That looks reelly werkss fur you!!!
LadyMum laffed at thee “Keep calm…” prompt….shee iss not thee most calmest Hu’man mee knowss….
So mee finkss shee wood say “Keep calm an PANICK!!” Mew mew mew….
Mine iss “Keep calm an eat Blue Wilderness Tuna!”
    ~~head rubsss~~ Siddhartha Henry~~

    1. We just started eating Blue Buffalo hairball control and we all like it, well Sammy has special food because Head rubs to you too my friend. XO

  11. Mom loves Kyra Sedgwick and was looking forward to her new tv series since The Closer was mom’s all time favorite. However, 10 days in the valley did not strike mom’s fancy. Acting was wonderful but the subject not so much
    Hugs Madi your bfff

  12. Your number one works for me! Your number three is very true I believe. And your compassion, love, and respect for cats is so needed. Thank you for making cat lives better! Millie looks at home on a pedestal!
Keep calm and hug a cat… I had to copy you because it is a most perfect fill-in!
Stretchy women’s jeans disappoint me. Can’t I find 100% cotton denim?
Being near the ocean is my anxiety reliever.
In retrospect CH and I should have stayed in St. Louis… stuck with city life.

    1. Thank you, glad you liked my fill-ins. I have never seen stretchy keans in 100% cotton either, they all have some spandex or things like that. Sorry you are unhappy where you are 🙁

      1. Not unhappy where we are, we have enjoyed country life but we miss the conveniences of city life. We know we are going to have to move at some point because it is too much to take care of. We miss having a pizza delivered… 😀

  13. Great answers, as always, and I couldn’t agree more about Nicolas Cage. Like Sean Connery, he’s got talent that gets misplaced a lot somehow. Movies can be vastly changed in the cutting room, of course, not to mention with today’s special effects nonsense. Or maybe he has bad management/judgment/debts. Who knows? ~sigh~ Thank you for rescuing animals. You’re a blessing to the world. I wish you all the best!

  14. It’s interesting that you say you should’ve majored in something else – like English/writing. When most people talk about English/writing, it’s the other way around – they wish they’d majored in something more useful and practical. I’m like that with psychology … a BA doesn’t do you much good at all – I wish my Bachelors was in social work instead. I don’t have the patience to work with elementary age kids though …

    1. My BA is Elem Ed and Psychology, both useless to me. I agree about social work, I think people that majored in that had to do internships, but we didn’t in Psychology.

  15. guyz….18 centz anda sak oh friez sayz ewe can guezz R anzswer ta number two with out uz even typin ~~~~~~ 🙂 ♥♥

    dood…grate balancin act buddy !! ♥♥

  16. Ellen – re: # 3 – don’t bother with regrets ! I majored in English & minored in journalism and ended up teaching grade school for 31 years, so it’s all just a crap shoot ! Purrs !

  17. Excellent completions. I haven’t seen Nic Cage in a movie in a long time…nothiing I am interested in. Too bad! Astrid and Lilly are the main pedestal sitters in our house. Ellen, it’s not too late to study English and/or writing. Thanks for hosting and coming up with two of the Fill-Ins each week. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

    1. Nic Cage is such a good actor, I wish he would stick to romantic comedy. I would love to study writing, but a Master’s Degree is expensive. XO

  18. Great answers, Ellen. I think I will pass on hugging a cat right now since we don’t have one and the neighbor’s cat would probably eat me. It is never too late to get that degree. You can find some great online schools. Of course, you can find some not so great ones, too.

    Have a blessed week.

    1. All schools seem expensive and I don’t want to get loans. I may do an ed2go course sometime though. I hope you have a blessed week too.

  19. “Keep Calm and Hug Your Cat” is a great one, especially if they hug back without drawing blood. 🙂 Thanks for the link to the customizer!

I started out in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, too.

I’m sorry that Nic Cage disappointed you with this movie.

You’re doing a wonderful job of honoring your calling. The kitties are so blessed to have you as their rescuer.

    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Yes, I can’t hug them all or I would be bleeding 🙂 Nic has been disappointing me a lot lately. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!XO

  20. I try to keep calm as I hug my cat but as I know that she’s only going to let me do it for a few minutes it’s not easy. When I win the lottery and have my own home rescuing animals, and especially cats is going to be one of my main functions in life. Love your answers.

  21. Oh, YES!!! Hug your kitty indeed! And your spouse too:) And your doggy if there are any…hug all, it a kind thing to do:)

    1. Keep calm and just keep on doing your work…I have to tell that to myself a lot when it gets all hectic and crazy at my work.
2.Modern music styles and clothing styles too, disappoint me.
    3. Helping peeps at the nursing home is not only my job, its my life work and passion. .

    4. In retrospect, I sometimes wonder what my life would have been like had I stayed in Canada…but well, I am here in the USA and this is my adopted home now, though I retain my Canadian citizenship. .

    1. Thank you for your answers, I always enjoy them. I agree with you on #2. I am sure you are right where you are supposed to be, but I am sure you would like to visit Canada. XO
