Friendly Fill-Ins Week 401

Hi everyone! Time for the fill-ins. I came up with the first two sentences and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two. If you didn’t do a post for them, you can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you. The link is open until Wednesday night.

1. Some people make their own _________________, but I prefer store bought.
2. February is a good month to _________________.
3.  _________ was the best part of this week.
4. As a child I _________, but as an adult I _________.
My answers:
1. Some people make their own pie crust, but I prefer store bought.
2. February is a good month to declutter and clean the house.
3. Getting good news about Joanie was the best part of this week. Babysitting The Boy and Typhoid Mary is a close second.
4. As a child I was afraid of the dark, but as an adult I prefer a completely dark room for sleeping. Despite that, we have a nightlight in our room so Joanie can get around without falling.
We are joining Feline Friday now hosted by Messymimi.
My flashback is from February 2015. Angel Polar Bear was resting on what is now Brody’s favorite chair. Polar Bear was the only cat I ever had with extra toesies.

  1. Such a cute picture of Angel Polar Bear! We had one cat who had extra toesies on his hind paws, Little Buddy. He also had radial hypoplasia in his front legs. XO

      1. Ellen, Little Buddy was not in pain, which was confirmed by vet specialists; and he had no concept of being limited, so he was very active. We made some special household arrangements to make his movements easier, and lived a long and happy life. Just sayin’ to let everyone know RH cats can be cared for and live happily. XO

  2. My mother was VERY scared of darkness, made worse if she couldn’t access her flashlight. Leftover from wartime, when they had to blackout their windows. (In the Netherlands) Somehow we never knew that until we were all old enough to not be scared of darkness ourselves. (I was 12…)

Angel Polar Bear looks quite comfy there.

    1. Some people make their own clothing, but I prefer store bought. (Since my sewing skills are very bad…)
    2. February is a good month to start thinking about what to do in the yard and garden areas when it warms up.
    3. Talking with my sister for a good long while was the best part of this week.
    4. As a child I loved to do crafts and other creative things, but as an adult I find I don’t have much time for those things anymore….except for the ‘art’ I make for others with the mementos I send out..

    1. How sad about your mom. Thank you for these great answers. I am glad you got to talk to your sister. I love the art you make. XO

  3. It’s so funny that on numbers one two and four we are just alike. On number three I had no children to take care of. And Precious is excited to see that your Angel Polar Bear got that chair all prepared for when Brody took over. And we certainly hope Brody is feeling well today.

    1. Yes, we are. I have no kids either. #3 meant you as a child. Brody is good- knock on wood 3 times. XO

  4. Angel Polar Bear♥
Your #3 is a very very most excellent best part of this week! Agree with you on pie crust.
    My Fill-Ins…
    1. Some people make their own sourdough bread, but I prefer store bought from the Publix.
    2. February is a good month to walk the beach in the afternoon.
    3. Having family from MO was the best part of this week.
    4. As a child I loved and rode horses, but as an (old) adult I prefer a different kind of horsepower. Vroom.
    Good Morning!

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I prefer store bought too. I worry about sourdough starter and it going bad. Glad you had family visit. My little nieces are going to be taking lessons soon. Their Mimi ( their dad’s mom) is into horses and bought them lessons for Christmas. XO

  5. Sweet pic of Angel Polar Bear. I used to be afraid of the dark when I was a child and grew out it. I still like a nightlight in case I have to get up when it is dark.

  6. Store bought pie crust? Sometimes I use it too for a short cut. The older I get the less work I like to do especially in cooking. Yay for good cat news.

  7. Adorable pic of Angel Polar Bear. I’m with you on #4. As a kid, I didn’t like the dark but as an adult, I can’t sleep with light. We, too, have nightlights for the cats. Have a great weekend!

  8. I tried making pie crust a few times. There was more flour on the floor than on the counter.
Just not worth all the work and clean up
    Hugs Cecilia

  9. Your fill-ins are fantastic, as always! I make my own pie crust, but only because my grandma had a recipe that takes only a couple minutes to prepare. It’s the only pie crust I’ll make. Like you, as a kid I was not keen on being in the dark. As an adult I can somehow fall asleep in pretty much any lighting, ranging from a pitch black room to a fully lit room. And I was so happy when you shared Joanie’s good news. Purrs and prayers to Joanie, and to all of you! And Polar Bear was and always will be so handsome!

    1. Thank you. I fall asleep anywhere too, but when I want to fall asleep at night, I prefer dark. XO

  10. 1. Some people make their own bread, but I prefer store bought.
    2. February is a good month to get ready for spring.
    3. Being with hubby and our kitties was the best part of this week.
    4. As a child I wanted to be grown and out of the house, but as an adult I was right to want that.

Thank you for co-hosting the Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Ellen. Scritches to all the precious kitties. ♥

  11. Aww, what an adorable photo of Polar Bear. I’ve never even tried to make my own pie crust. I know store bought will be better.

  12. Precious photo! I agree about pie crust, plus it’s so much easier!

  13. I am about unable to sleep in a room that’s not like night time. When I worked the 12 hr rotating shifts, on mid, I was grateful for the aluminum foil on my bedroom windows. It kept all light out. I cracked the door a little and put a rock behind it so Admiral could come in and sleep with me. I didn’t have a wide open door. And I closed the bathroom door and hall door. When I left, I had an unveiling with all the family here where the foil came off and the windows were cleaned after all those years. I will try again to subscribe. It always acts like it takes, but it never works. I have to remember to run over here…and I gotta pea brain…

  14. Other than graham cracker pie crust, I prefer store bought, as well. In fact, I have some graham cracker crusts from the store, anyway. lol Polar Bear had extra toes? Could he have been any cuter? Hugs, my dear, to you and yours.

  15. I like a bit of light at night. I don’t want to step on the cat if I get up. I like homemade pie crust, but it’s so much work.

  16. Love that picture of Angel Polar Bear and her tootsies. Besides Ernie we don’t know anyone with those mittens😸Looks like Granny is the only one here who doesn’t need darkness to sleep through the night🙈Extra Pawkisses for all of you🐾😽💞
