Friendly Fill-Ins Week 35

Hi everyone! Time for Friendly Fill-ins Week 35. Don’t forget to add your link on McGuffy’s Reader. You can also answer in the comment section. We look forward to reading everyone’s answers each week and we thank you for participating.

The Friendly Fill-Ins:

1. I have seen ________________ play in concert.

2. I would like to attend a _________________ concert.

3. In the dead of Winter, I                                    .
4. The main ringer on my cell phone is                                      .
My answers:
1. I have seen Motley Crue (twice), Journey, Chicago, Whitney Houston, INXS, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty ( 3 times), The Eagles, John Fogerty ( 3 times), Hank Williams Jr. , Phil Collins, Def Lepard and Tim McGraw play in concert.  ( I haven’t been to a concert in at least 10 years though).
2. I would like to attend a Rob Thomas or Brad Paisley concert.
3. In the dead of Winter, I hibernate by staying inside and reading with my cats close by.
4. The main ringer on my cell phone is the basic t-mobile ringtone, not sure what it is called. I only have my cell phone on when I go to the mall with my Mom so my hubby can contact me and if my Mom and I can’t find each other.
One more thing: Happy Birthday to my hubby, he is a great cat Daddy too!

  1. We are not doing the fill-ins this week. Sorry! Mom had a book review she really needed to do. She is jealous that you got to see The Eagles, one of her all time favorite groups. Her two artists she’d like to see are Eric Clapton and Van Morrison. She and Dad saw Brian Wilson and Bob Dylan in 2016 and are going to see Rick Springfield and Richard Marx in a couple of weeks. Being teenagers in the 60s in California, both she and Dad saw just about every group there was at the time. Mom says it would take a full page to list everybody. She did see The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who…to name just a few. We promise to be back for fill-ins next week. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    1. No worries about not doing the fill-ins, thank you for putting your answers here. The Eagles are my all time favorites too. I used to love Richard Marx, I bet that will be a good concert. I am impressed that she saw The Beatles. XO

  2. Hi Guys!
Seems as Nellie Is in Prince George (actually she is upstairs on her heating pad, she is not better, but she is not worse either) I shall answer the Friday Fill-ins!!!

    1. I have seen Deep Purple, The Who, The Guess Who, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendri, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin and a few more of the Classic Rock biggies play in concert. Oh what a dissipated youth this old hippy had!!!
    2. I would like to attend a Simon Keenlyside concert. Simon is one of the world’s number one baritones (yes I LOVE Opera)!
    3. In the dead of Winter, I like to sit in front of the fire with Nellie on my lap, knitting or embroidering and watching a movie. .
    4. The main ringer on my cell phone is the Moto ring tone

I liked it so much, when I got an iPhone, I put it on my iPhone!
    Hugs
    Nellie’s Mommy .

    1. Thank you for your answers. I am glad Nellie is not worst, but I am praying she gets better. You have been to a lot of great concerts. I have never been able to get into opera, but I hope you get to go to a Simon Keenlyside concert. XO

  3. My cell phone is only on when I need it. For a long time, that meant only emergencies … but now that I’ve had it for years and built up my balance (pay as you go … but you have to add a certain amt every three months) to a ridiculous level, I’m a little more lenient as to what constitutes an “emergency.” 🙂

  4. I haven’t been to a concert in years although I have seen some of the big names – U2, David Bowie, Kylie Minogue, ColdPlay, Duran Duran, Billy Joel….

  5. Great filling in…………..AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your Cat Daddy ! I hope it’s a great day for him and all you kitties give him a hug!

    Love, Angel Sammy

  6. What fun fill-ins! You have certainly seem some true greats in concert. I love your #3, and it is very similar to my own. Nothing beats spending extra time with the furbabies! I keep it very simple with my cell phone as well, and that’s exactly how I like it. I’m honestly not looking forward to the day when smart phones are the only option, as I am perfectly happy with my basic one. And, of course, a very happy birthday to the kitties’ dad! Purrs to him, and to all of you!

    1. Kitty Daddy thanks you for the birthday wishes. I have been to a lot of concerts, but it is out of my system now. 🙂

  7. Ellen, my cellphone pretty much replaced our home phone. We have VoIP service (Magic Jack) which is very cheap and works great but the done side is if our internet service or power goes out then our home phone doesn’t work. Verizon has unlimited calling and texting now, so there is no reason to not use my cellphone, plus it’s always beside me. I don’t like getting out in the dead of winter, either. I hate the cold. Every year that passes I become less tolerant of the cold but I’m not ready to move somewhere like Florida where the summers are horrible. Thankfully our winters aren’t super wicked. Thanks for hosting the Friday fun, my friend! 😉

    1. I will never move to Florida- too many bugs and gators. I prefer the cold climate with less bugs. We like our landline, I guess we are old fashioned. The bad part is it is through Comcast so when we lose power, we lose the phone too 🙁

  8. Oh man, how my mom would love to have attended any of the concerts you did. She has only been to one and now, she’d have to get up and riffle through CD’s to see who that was. Her ears will never be the same though. I know she loves the same artists you do. She’d been thrilled to have gone with you. Her ringtone is a pretty soft sounding one of the many that iPhone gives you a choice of.
If it’s snowing or icy, Mom has to stay home which kills her. She loves working out and her walks. Going for food is nice too, MOL. xoxo
I may visit you next. Phoebe, will you be my hostess?

    1. I am lucky to have been to so many concerts, but I am more content to stay home now. I admire how dedicated your Mom is to her walks. Yes, we would love for you to be our guest. XO

  9. We MUST get Mommy to remember to participate in this! Well, she’s been to about 1000 concerts, including Rob Thomas. She’s seen him and/or Matchbox 20 about 7 or 8 times, and she met him twice. She’s a geek, but we love her.

  10. Here are our Friday Fill-In answers!

    1. I have seen N’Sync, Good Charlotte, Guster, Phish (twice), Reel Big Fish (twice), and Lake Street Dive in concert.
    2. I would like to attend a Queen concert (if only that were possible!!!) and a Rush concert!
    3. In the dead of Winter, I like to cuddle on the couch under a warm blanket with a pile of kitties and watch movies!
    4. The main ringer on my cell phone is just some ringtone that came on my phone.

    1. Thank you for your answers, I enjoyed them. I feel old though because I only recognized N’Sync 🙂 Cuddling with kitties is the best 🙂

  11. Happy Birthday to a most wonderful Cat Daddy! Loved your answers. My Dad was at Woodstock so he saw some goodies. Oh he saw the Beatles too.

  12. I’ve seen a lot of the same concerts as you! I have to admit that although I do the same as you for #3, I also do that in the summer!

I sure hope daddy is having a great day today!

p.s. Sorry we didn’t participate. Work is super crazy for me and it’s hard for me to respond to everyone.

    1. NO need to apologize for not participating. I like to stay inside in the summer too, probably more than in winter. 🙂

  13. We only use the basic ring tones, too. When our Marine gets home, he will probably change mine to something else. He likes to adapt our technology when we aren’t looking.
    Have a great week.

  14. Great fill-ins this week! Our Mom says she went to concerts back when people banged on rocks with sticks and saw groups that aren’t even around anymore, or who have people in them who weren’t even born when the groups were popular. MOL!

  15. I saw the old “Jefferson Airplane” in the 60’s. I would like to see an Andre Rieu concert (tastes change). In the Winter I freeze. My general cell ringer is the old fashioned telephone ring. That way I am not confused by other peoples phones ringing around me with their beeps and whistles!

    1. I bet Jefferson Airplane was good. Yes, tastes sure do change 🙂 That is a good idea for a ringtone.

  16. guys….a most happee day two yur dad ♫♪♫♪♫♪♫ hope him haza awesum day, hope him eatz lotz oh pizza piez N cake, hope everee one getted him sum treetz, grazz, nip, & toyz…….that way…yur dad will re gift it all bak two ewe !!! itza win win…..heerz two a yeer a head filled with happee nezz & health 🙂

heerz two an atlantic silverside kinda week oh end ~~~~~ ♥♥♥

    1. Hubby thanks you. I made him haddock, you would have loved it. Hope you have a nice weekend too! XO

  17. I must agree, Mr BC and I are the main callers on each other’s phone. The girls text us a lot….so I guess that counts. I am not fond of texting.

    1. I have yet to figure out how to text with the phone I have. When my niece was in high school and college, I was able to text her.

    1. Hubby thanks you. He has a cold right now, but when he is better, I will treat him to dinner.

  18. That is quite an impressive list of concerts you’ve been to. Good stuff. My list is much smaller but the bands were good ones. I also use the basic ring tone on my phone. A phone that hardly gets used because I’m – thankfully – not addicted to it. And happy birthday to your hubby!

  19. Happy Birthday to your Cat Daddy!
My mum mostly went to concerts in the 60s and early 70s. She has seen The Beatles, Genesis, The Yardbirds, Manfred Mann, The Who, The Kinks and some others she can’t think of right now.
She has The Final Countdown as her ringtone.

    1. Cat Daddy says thank you. Your Mum went to see a lot of great groups, especially The Beatles. Cool ringtone. XO

  20. Wishing many happy returns of the day to your hubby!

Your winter plan sounds like a great one to me.

  21. You have a nice eclectic taste in music! ) Happy, happy birthday to your sweet Dad! Did you bake him a tuna or catnip cake? :p

the critters in the cottage xo

  22. That’s a lot of concerts! Our mommy has been to several concerts but the one she loved the most was seeing Adele last July! She’s going to see Blake Shelton next month with a friend. She knows all of Adele’s songs but none of Blake’s so she better start listening to his music!

    Happy Birthday to your daddy!

    1. I bet Adele was amazing. I don’t know any recent ones by Blake Shelton, but I love his older stuff like Some Beach and Austin.
      Cat Daddy says thank you.

  23. Happy Birthday to your Daddy! How in the world I missed that Mom and I will not know in this lifetime. xxxooo

  24. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Hubby and CatDaddy!

You have been to some great concerts. I love Fogerty and would really love to see him live! Petty, too! There is just never enough time to do the things you want to.

Stay safe and warm in this cold winter! HUGS!!

    1. Hubby thanks you for the birthday wishes. We saw Fogerty 3 times and one place was a small park where we had great seats, that was the best, it felt like he was singing just to us. Hope you stay warm too. XO

  25. Whoa! Happy Birthday to Cat Daddy! MOL!

    1. TW has seen REM (over a hundred times), Patti Smith (over 20 times), Bruce Springsteen (5 times), Paul McCartney as well as hundreds of others play in concert even though she hasn’t been to a concert in years. I think she has a list on her FB page under notes.
    2. TW would like to attend a Leonard Cohen, Nirvana or Jeff Buckley concert but they are dead now.
    3. In the dead of Winter, I get the zoomies.
    4. The main ringer on TW’s cell phone is nothing cos she doesn’t have one.

  26. I love your answers! So many great ones you’ve seen…
Why did I miss these are fun questions, darn’. Maybe I’ll do a post tomorrow, a little late, but…

  27. Great concerts you’ve been too!

Sounds like most of us prefer to hibernate during the winter. I know I do 🙂

    Have a great week!

  28. I have not been to any of those kinds of concerts, MOL!

    1. I have seen famous violinists and pianists and other famous classical soloists play in concert. We do have a local rooted singer here, Labreque. He sings here sometimes and we have heard him. I know some of his family. I have heard some famous opera singer in live operas too…in Toronto, and in Europe.

    2. I would like to attend a concert at the ‘Concertgebouw’ in Amsterdam. Or aybe in Sydney’s famous opera house.
    3. In the dead of Winter, I like to dream about what might be fun to try growing in my garden. I like to try various cradts, then too, though I don’t have much time for those anymore. The latest type of craft I tried to do was making beaded jewelry…painstaking but fun. Needs tons of time…sigh… .

    4. The main ringer on my cell phone is the default one that came with the phone, some raucous dance tune. That way I can distinguish it from other ringers in crowed places. Its not a smart phone, just a ‘hello/goodbye’ type, MOL! I can do texting, but I actually hate doing that… MOL! .

    1. I bet those were nice concerts. I hope you can go to Sydney’s Opera House someday. You sound like my hubby with the garden planning, he just gave me his seed order to do online.
