Friendly Fill-Ins Week 123

Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. Please leave your link (at bottom of post) here or at my co-host’s Four-Legged Furballs. You can also answer in the comment section.

1. The last time I ____________was ____________________.

2. __________________isn’t ___________________.
3. _________ is a blessing in disguise.
4. My favorite word is _________.
My answers:
1. The last time I was on an airplane was in 1992 to go to Puerto Rico to leave on
our cruise. I am not complaining, I much prefer to be home.
2. My book isn’t selling as well as I had hoped. 🙁
3. A disappointment is a blessing in disguise. Sometimes. Whenever my car needs repairs and I can’t go somewhere, I think of it as God protecting me from a car accident.
4. My favorite word is YES. Usually in the form of yes, you can adopt another cat.

Joanie and Sammy thank you all for the birthday wishes.

They shared a kitty cake ( canned food) and got some Temptations for a present. Joanie was sad that her friend, The Great One wasn’t here so we will celebrate again on Tuesday.

Sammy’s day wasn’t as good as Joanie’s. He went to the vet with Prancie because they both were due for thyroid blood work.Bad timing on my part.

We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus.

  1. Tell Joanie and Sammy that they need a birthday MONTH to celebrate – more parties, more cat food cakes and more fun! And hopefully no more vet visits.

  2. Aww I’m sorry that Sammy had to go to the vet on his birthday. Other than that, I hope it was a wonderful birthday for both Sammy and Joanie. It looks like they are really enjoying that cake. 🙂

Your book sales will improve. Its just getting started, but I fully believe it will take off!

I agree with your answer to #3. I think He lets things hinder us for a reason and most often that reason is for our protection.

    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Sammy is spoiled every day 🙂 Thank you for helping to promote my book. I hope you have a blessed weekend too. XO

    1. Thank you for checking, I will look into it because I thought it was supposed to be available on there.

  3. Hopefully that trip to the vet for their birthday turned out to have only good news on their health – at least THAT would be a “gift” for them! Looks like a nice one with a delicious “cake”. Book sales always start off slow but the more word gets out the more sales!! HAPPY FRIDAY!

    Hugs, Teddy

  4. Ms. Ellen, we liked all your answers except #2… and we hope that as the oword gets out more, your sales will pick up. Most of what we sell are ebooks, but we don’t know if it’s the same for picture books.

  5. The birthday party sure looks like everyone had a good time. Hopefully, the book sales will pick up. The info on it just needs to get out there and get people to see it. Have a great day.

  6. LOVE all of your answers especially the one about what is in disguise.

I hope your book starts to pick up. I actually didn’t know you had written a book.

Thanks for sharing and for sending me the questions each week.

  7. I like the “a disappointment is a blessing in disguise” that one is enough to make a person stop and think.
The last time I had pumpkin pie was too long ago!
Taking your cat to the vet isn’t fun! (thought of you(
The weather is a blessing in disguise. (don’t know why that
popped into my head but it did so I used it)
My favorite word is AWESOME! (although I liked your “yes” and the reasoning of it LOL)

    thank you

  8. Ellen,

Don’t be disappointed about book sells. I think it will improve. The good mews is you’re published, so maybe others will want to share the mews of your book by hosting a little promo to get the word out there. 😉

Disappointments can be blessings in disguise. We just need to look for the silver lining in everything. It’s there, we just have to discover it!

Have a good weekend and thanks for hosting the Friday fun!

  9. Happy 13th Birthday Joanie and Sammy!! Furry sorry to hear that Sammy that the vet had to steal, um borrow your bloods on your birthday. Howsumever, there am still lots of cake and maybe you can gets Mom Ellen back somehow..

Concatulations on published book, even if not selling too much yet… All the mom has am one poem published umpteen years ago and she forgot to buy the book it was in!!! Thanks fur always coming by when the Mom finally has energee to share how we am doing… Purrz from Katie Ann Kitty Too who will be 15 furry soon.

  10. Sorry your book isn’t doing as well as you hoped.

Looks like the kitties had a great 13th birthday. I knew you’d see that it was a great day for them.

    Thanks for co-hosting Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Scritches to all the kitties. ❤

  11. Great fill ins. Happy Birthday to Joanie and Sammy. I’m sorry Sammy had to go to the vet on his birthday, though.

I hope the book sales go up soon. I think it just takes time. Good luck!

  12. Belated wishes to Joannie and Sammy. Tis a great book and should sell well. Great fill-in answers. It took days for me to figure out 2 and 3 and I still didn’t get it. In fact I just changed one of them.

  13. I always look forward to your fill-ins. I have never flown on a plane, and I kind of hope that I never do. Don’t lose hope in your book! You’re still in the early stages. You will sell more and more books as the word spreads and as your marketing reaches more people. I’ll be buying a hard copy of it very soon. It’s already in my Amazon cart! Your #3 really had me thinking. My car was in the shop for 2 days this week, because none of the mechanics could figure out why the a/c would work sometimes but not other times (they did figure it out, thank goodness, because it’s still over 90°F here!). Now I’m wondering if those days without my car were a blessing that I’m not aware of. And your answer to #4 is purrfect!

We’re so happy Joanie and Sammy’s birthday was so wonderful! Sorry you had to go to the V-E-T on your birthday, though, Sammy. Did you get even more treats for that?

    1. Thank you. That is sweet of you to get my book. There is a positive to everything if we look for it 🙂

  14. Thanks for the share. We are just like you with staying at home with our little ones. Happy to see Joanie and Sammy have a great birthday together. That looks like one delicious kitty cake. Hope you have a wonderful first weekend of fall.

  15. Happy belated Birthday to Joanie and Sammy! Our mommy prefers to be home too but she’ll be back on a plane next week. Daddy is staying home with us so we’ll have a party. Lexi won’t be invited. MOL!

  16. Trying to leave a comment, hope it works this time.

Sammy has my sympathy, i once had a dentist appointment on my birthday, they pulled four teeth.

My hope for your book is that it’s a sleeper, slow start, then a take-off.

  17. We think the word YES always brings much better things into one’s life than NO!!!

    Happy weekend.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

    1. Thank you. I have been sending out press releases to newspapers and stores. I don’t have any other ideas though.

  18. Don’t worry about your book not selling well. Ours hasn’t been, either. But when one person tells you how reading your book touched them in a special way, it makes writing it worth it.

  19. Joanie & Sammy look so happy! That sure is a nice cake and festive bandannas. How fun that they’ll celebrate again with the Great One. I love your #4 answer. Regarding your book, I think you need to give it a time. Plus, I’ve heard that it takes a lot of promoting. That’s definitely not something I would be good at. I think, though, with time, sales will absolutely pick up. I know I’ll be buying it for sure.

  20. Lovely card!

My mum sympathises with you. She is so disappointed with her book sales too. There are just so many books out there and as writers and bloggers, it’s important to keep up with the self-promotion.

We will check out your book and we’re sure it’ll start selling!

  21. Oh no, the vet on his birthday, poor Sammie! We think he probably didn’t know the difference, and at least there’s a second celebration coming up anyway!
I imagine books are as difficult as blogs or anything else you try to sell too, really. It takes a lot of time and patience.
Is there something we can do to help? Write a review maybe? Is there a post about it we could share on social media? (sorry I can’t remember)

    1. Yes, it does take a lot of time and patience 🙂 Thank you for your offer to help spread the word 🙂 XO

  22. Great answers and our Female Human says don’t be discouraged about the book, these things take a while and she also tried to find it on Amazon. We’ll have her check again later.
    Purrs & Head Bonks,
    Oliver

  23. You went on a cruise? You went to PR? You sure are lucky. We bet that was soooooo cool. We’re sorry your book isn’t doin’ well. we’re sendin’ hugs and purrayers.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena
