Friendly Fill-Ins Week 11

Hi everyone! Thank you to everyone who has been participating in the fill-ins and thank you to any newbies too. Remember, if you don’t have a blog, you can still put your answers in the comments.

If when my link doesn’t work, my co-host, Annie of McGuffy’s Reader will have a working one on her blog for you to link up.

1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to _____________________________________.

2. Zucchini ____________________________________________.
3. One Summertime memory I recall is                                          .

4. This Summer,
My answers:
1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to BE MY DRIVER, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY SO I AM LIMITED TO WHERE I CAN GO UNLESS MY MOM IS WILLING TO DRIVE ( HUBBY DOESN’T LIKE HIGHWAYS EITHER). I WOULD GO TO NYC SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR IF I HAD A DRIVER.
2. Zucchini IS MY FAVORITE VEGETABLE AND I AM LOVING IT FRESH FROM THE GARDEN.  I HAVE MADE STIR FRY, ZUCCHINI QUICHE, ZUCCHINI CASSEROLE ( 2 KINDS) AND I NEVER GET SICK OF IT.
3. One Summertime memory I recall is EATING ESKIMO PIES WITH MY GRANDPA ON MY GRANDPARENT’S FRONT PORCH. HE HAS BEEN GONE SINCE 1984, BUT I STILL THINK OF HIM EVERY TIME I HAVE A KLONDIKE BAR ( Not sure if they still make Eskimo pies).
4. This Summer, I WANT TO DO A LOT OF DECLUTTERING, BUT IT HAS BEEN TOO HOT TO DO ANYTHING.
Have a nice weekend everyone!DSCF1854

  1. I agree. It is absolutely too hot to do anything that takes any effort at all. I step out of this room and it is like walking into an oven out there!

I bet that zucchini quiche is just wonderful. 🙂

What a sweet memory about your grandpa.

I would make a horrible passenger, but like to drive (most of the time). There are an awful lot of maniacal drivers in our area that do make it pretty scary sometimes.

    Have a great day!

  2. My human thinks zucchini is the devil! She doesn’t like it at all – her favorite vegetables are eggplant, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts. She loves avocado too, but technically it’s a fruit.

  3. What GREAT fill-ins today!!! Nice that you cats let your Mom answer them….I ALMOST let mine do it this week but decided to make it all about ME ME ME! My Mom LOVES driving but not IN a big city……she doesn’t mind the highways, etc. but driving IN a big city can be so confusing and she’s confused enough anyway (hahahahahaha).

    Hugs, Sammy

    1. That was nice of your Mom to let you answer 🙂 Your Mom is lucky she doesn’t mind driving.

  4. What lovely fill-ins! Memories of our grandparents are always some of the best, it seems. I’ve honestly never heard of an Eskimo bar, but I do love Klondike bars. And I am completely with you on #4 – I so badly want to clean out my garage, but 90+ degree weather just isn’t any fun at all. Thank you for hosting this fun challenge! Purrs!

    1. Eskimo pies are similar to Klondike, but they were rectangular and thinner. I think all decluttering will wit for the Fall :)I am glad you enjoy the challenge and join every week.

  5. I love your answers, Ellen. I am pretty limited on driving, due to health reasons. So, that was a great answer.

I don’t add potatoes to my zucchini-tomato recipe, but, I do bake it. I need your recipes! I love zucchini. too.

Oh, my gosh. I used to sit on the porch with my Grampy and eat Eskimo pies. Great memory, my friend. Nestlè now makes Eskimo pies.

This Summer is too hot to even breathe. Literally. We are in the middle of a heat wave. It is in the nineties, feeling like 110*. *augh* Stay cool and hydrated.

Now I have “Baby, You Can Drive My Car” going through my head. Your answer to #1 started it! Ha! Have a great weekend. Thanks for hosting with me. HUGS!

    1. That is sweet that we both used to enjoy Eskimo pies with our Grandpas. I will have to look for them at the grocery store. I will send you some recipes, I have a great one called Zucchini bingo where you pick and choose ingredients from each letter 🙂 Sorry you got that song stuck in your head 🙂 Hope you have a nice weekend. XO

  6. I don’t like driving on busy highways or in unfamiliar places. I would love to travel to some events in Washington D.C., but I don’t want to even attempt to drive in Northern Virginia. Zucchini quiche sounds good. I’m not a big fan of zucchini, but I’ll eat it if it’s in something else. It sure has been hot this summer. Today and this weekend it’s supposed to be super hot, with the heat index during the weekend over 100. Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. That is a great idea!!! I don’t like eggplant, but I bet that is good.

  7. Mom and Dad love Klondike bars too. They come in a ton of flavors. They like mint with dark choc. icing.

Oh dear I’m sorry you don’t like to drive on highways.
    Hugs madi and mom

    1. I like the mint ones too, but usually get the original because hubby doesn’t like the others.

  8. I’m not a fan of driving on the highway, either – probably one of the reasons I’ve only visited my favorite aunt twice since moving back to Washington two years ago – she lives North of Seattle and the traffic on the freeway to get there is white-knuckle and elevated blood pressure worthy. 😉 I’ll even avoid roads I know are always congested with traffic – even if it takes me longer to get somewhere, because people are crazy! 🙂

OK, you and Ann and several others are making me think I need to rethink my distaste for zucchini…I’ll have to give it another shot! 🙂

What an awesome memory with your grandfather!! Now I’ll be keeping my eye out to see if Eskimo Pies are still sold…I remember those! They were a favorite of mine! 🙂

I’m in the same boat with the de-cluttering – want to do it, but the weather hasn’t been cooperating, which has reduced my motivation to get it done. 😉

Thanks for the opportunity to join your party! Have a great weekend, and I’ll ‘see’ you next week! 🙂

    1. Thank you for your answers! Part of my reason for not wanting to drive is that people are crazy.
Another commenter said Nestle makes the pies, I will have to look.
Decluttering will hold off until Fall around here.
Hope you have a great weekend.

  9. I would love a driver as well. I remember once when I won 40 lottery tickets from a radio station. That was one of the things I was going to get if I won. I only had one ticket that had as much as two right numbers. I never can declutter in the summer, just too, too hot. Love the lounging Joanie photo. Thanks for hosting the fill-ins. Tell Sammy, he’ll be able to check out all the photos from the wedding. He’ll have lots of fun at the reception!

    1. Joanie thanks you, you are the only one to notice her. Sammy is looking forward to the wedding. A driver would be great. Decluttering will wait until the Fall. XO

  10. Great questions and answers again this week! If we go out of town Papa Bear usually does the driving since he is more comfortable with busy highways, but it would be nice to have a chauffer so he could just sit back and relax too! I love zucchini in all forms too. Fried in thin slices and topped with parmesan is probably my favorite. I even have a recipe for chocolate zucchini cake! That’s a beautiful summer memory to treasure! Those times spent together are so important. I always plan to declutter too, but run out of motivation long before I run out of clutter. I really need to make progress on it!! Have a nice weekend!

    1. I have never fried it with parmesan, that sounds good. All decluttering is going to wait until the Fall 🙂 Have a great weekend.

  11. Now I want an Eskimo Pie. Those things are mighty good and I’ve not had one in years. Can you tell I love ice cream.

Have a purrfect day. My best to your peeps. ☺

  12. I wish I could afford somebody to do my IT Support. Somebody better than Peep #1. You know what useless means, right? Well Peep #1 isn’t good enough to even be called that. MO– USES!

    Purrs,
    Seville

  13. Ellen, it’s nice meeting you. I missed visiting you last week. Oh well, here I am playing Friday Fillins for a second week in a row. Yay, me! I totally relate to driving. While I can drive I really hate it, especially interstate driving. Luckily, DH likes to drive and chauffeurs me around town without complaining. I think my apprehension stems from not being behind the wheel for years. I really need to do something about this because I hate being a big scaredy Cathy. We’re always in the de-clutter set of mind. After 37 years of marriage, we’ve accumulated more stuff than we’ll ever use or need. The process is slow, but we’re chipping away at it little by little.

    Stupidity #humor #celebrate #fridayfillins

    1. Nice to meet you too and I am glad you are joining the fill-ins. I wish I could get hubby in a declutter state of mind, but right now it will wait until it cools off.

  14. As much as i love driving, i wouldn’t mind being someone’s driver. That’s a lovely memory about your Grandfather!

  15. OMC Too bad we don;t live closer. Mommy luvs to drive but can’t afford da gas. MOL And of course without a/c right now, she don;t wanna go anywhere.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

    1. I would hire your Mom to drive. It would be nice if she lived closer to just get together for coffee sometime. XO

  16. What a fun bloggie post!
    LadyMum needss a cleaner an a maid…..shee needss a lot of help…
Thee people who run thee Agencess say shee iss OK because shee can get inn an out of thee shower bye herself! What that has to do with cleenin or movin furniture to cleen iss beyond mee…..
An Joanie that iss a purrty foto of you….
Pleeze give Purrincess Phoebe all mee LUV an **paw kissesss**
    Siddhartha Henry =^,.^= xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. Joanie thanks you 🙂 That is too bad your Mum can’t get a maid. Paw kisses and nose kisses. XO

    1. Thank you, we grow green, yellow and light green ones. Also ones that look like spaceships 🙂

    1. A yard guy is a great idea. I am lucky my hubby loves to do that stuff.

  17. 1. I wish I had enough money to get someone to come and re-do the entire yard and maintain it! 3. I recall sitting on the big front porch in the evening after supper with my 2 older brothers. All of us playing guitar and one brother singing. 2. Zuchinni is not a fave of mine. 4. This summer I get to work out harder, walk farther, faster and know I won’t keel over. ?

    1. That would be nice- especially the maintaining the yard part. That is a wonderful memory, I didn’t know you played the guitar. Don’t work out too much in this heat- be careful. XO

  18. I think we’re living parallel lives! I’ve driven on the interstate exactly once…and that was to get a cat to the vet and I had absolutely no choice. I am petrified of the highways…and they’re pretty tame here in VT compared to some places too! And I have loads of de-cluttering projects on hold this summer too…who the heck feels like doing anything in this weather???

  19. You are right, it is way too hot to do anything outside. As far as decluttering goes, if we ever move out of this house, I think we will just pile everything in the front yard and set fire to it. It ain’t goin’ with us. I think we still have some Easter grass in some of this stuff and I banned it from our house right after our first child’s first Easter.

    1. I am sure there are some things you would want to keep for the memories 🙂 We don’t use Easter grass here because of the cats- or tinsel at Christmas.

  20. The peeps like zucchini too. Jersey fresh is the best next to garden fresh.

    1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to take my meds.
    2. Zucchini is not in my diet.
    3. One Summertime memory I recall is biting the peeps bare legs but they wisely don’t wear shorts anymore. .
    4. This Summer is gonna kill me if it doesn’t get cooler.

    1. Thank you for your answers CK, I hope you are feeling better. This heat and humidity is awful. I bet it is fun to bite bare legs 🙂

  21. Both my husband and I hate driving, so I wish we had a driver too. We live in So Cal, so it’s hard not to drive on the freeway. Zucchini quiche sounds yummy! I haven’t had a quiche in a long time.

    1. That must make it hard if neither of you wants to drive. I call it Quiche, but it is more of a bake, but it has a lot of eggs 🙂

  22. Great answers on your fill in, mom is also doing the decluttering thing. Mom is to sentimental about certain things and keeps it like it is gold.
This month she did a garage sale/yard sale and sold some of her stuff so she was happy with the extra money (Just hoping she doesn’t buy any new things). Next month she will do it again, hopes it works out as well as the first one.

    Purs,
    Billy The Time Cat

    1. Congrats to your Mom, that is great that she decluttered and made some money. I need to do this too, but it has been sooo hot. XO

  23. Those fill in answers are so, so interesting. Sometimes I can only think of one word to fill in the blank. Ah, well…..

  24. I have been de-cluttering and cleaning which is partly why I haven’t been blogging!

    Happy Sunday!
