Thankful Thursday

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am thankful to everyone who left comments congratulating me on my upcoming book release. I truly appreciate your support and kindness.

Joanie is thankful that her Gremmie passed his physical.Good heart beat. And no fever.

I said , “good the doctor has arrived.” And the Great One replied, ” I am not a real doctor, just pretend.”  Too cute 🙂

We will show you Joanie’s new costume in tomorrow’s post.

Here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day to go with this photo:

This van reminds me of walking the garbage trail,
a 6 mile charity walk, luckily it didn’t hail
It is to raise money for Huntington’s disease
a cause that makes it worth the sore knees.
Arlo Guthrie does this for his Dad
who passed too early, it makes him mad.
All walkers get to ride in a hippie van
brought to the start every woman and man.
 Photo of Arlo Guthrie

My hubby and I did this walk in 2012, but we only made it about 2 miles. Luckily, the hippie vans drive around and will pick you up when you are tired and bring you back. Our nurse friend is involved with the planning of it so we went to support her and a good cause.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

  1. Hi there! I let petcretary get so far behind in commenting on all our furends’s blogs, we decided just to read through the missed posts and comment in the newest one.
    So here we are:)
I did enjoy reading all the posts since I was lat here, some of them made me giggle and some were sweet and others were purrfectly wonderfur!

I loved seeing this VW-bus, those made the best small campers and my sister would love to own one, go figure. I do’t think se’d want a hippie one, though, MOL!
That is nice that you participated in the walk to help find a cure for that Huntingtons. Its horrid, I lost a friend to that years ago…and we have resident with it right now:(

    1. Good idea to just comment on one post or it would be impossible to get caught up on everyone’s blogs.
I am sorry you lost a friend to this and that one of your resident’s has it too. XO

  2. WOW…..that walk sounds like an interesting event…..it was nice that you and your husband gave it a whirl. We LOVE LOVE LOVE your poem today – thanks for joining in our fun every Thursday. I think The Great One just might be heading for a career as a doctor – she’s very thorough in her examination of Gremmie!

    Hugs, Teddy

  3. What a cool van! I think it would be awesome to have one. In some ways, I guess, I’m a hippie at heart…I’ve never been one to go along with the crowd. Different drummer and all that. 🙂

The Great One is adorable. 🙂

I’m sorry about Mr. Guthrie’s dad. This sounds like a very worthy cause. I hope that they meet their goals.

    Have a blessed day, Ellen.

  4. A very good cause to support! Dr. Great One, even if only pretend did a good physical for Gremmie. Happy to hear he is healthy! Dr. Great One, I would rather visit her for my heart beat check up… Doctors make my knees knock.

  5. Tell The Great One that she is a real doctor to the dolls and toys. 😉

That van, i would love to meet the owner. It’s fabulous.

Hope you have a great Thursday!

  6. The Great One is a pretend one. That’s adorable.

Love the poem and I was around when many of those vans were on the road. It was a different time.

I’m all ready for Friendly Fill-ins. Thanks for co-hosting such a fun meme.

Have a Thankful Thursday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  7. Hooray for Gremmie getting an A+ from Dr. Great One! Did Gremmie get a sucker for good behavior? And your poem for this retro image is so perfect. I think it’s wonderful that you and hour husband participated for such a good cause. I’ll be seeing you tomorrow for the Friendly Fill-Ins!

    1. No, poor Gremmie didn’t get anything, not even a sticker. I look forward to your fill-ins.

  8. Pretend Doctor is very cute! The film, “Alice’s Restaurant” was on TV recently, but Arlo’s song is much more fun to listen to than the movie. When your book is published, send a copy of it to Nick Cage; he’s a real cat lover! And I just rewatched “Moonstruck” again…love that movie!

    1. I saw that movie and found it boring. I would love to send Nic Cage my book, but I doubt he would look at it. I like that movie too, but Family Man and Peggy Sue Got Married are my favorites.

  9. How sweet playing doctor with Gremmy! And what a lovely charity. Thank you for sharing. I’m glad you liked my rainbow image. It was my husband’s clever idea to run the nest over. And I’m so grateful to him for taking care of things. After I did it, he stared down and said, “That’s what you get for stinging my wife.” He didn’t know I heard him. ~grin~ Be well!

  10. Thee Grate One iss adoorabull….who knowss maybee shee WILL bee a Docktur when shee growss uppy!!! 😉

kinda hard ta make him take medz other wise 🙂 ♥♥

  13. We are very proud of you for the book! That is very impressive. Gremmie, we guess you are all grown up now. But remember, Joanie will always be your mom.

#3. I would start an extremely aggressive spay and neuter program, so that cats would become very valued!! In my world, people would fight to have a kitteh in their lives because they were so rare.

  14. It’s wonderful that you have a doctor for Gremmie who makes house calls. And the hippie van picking up the tired walkers is a great idea. That way people don’t have to worry about walking an entire event.

  15. That walk sounds like it is for a good cause and how fun to have the vans as part of it. Mau thought it was fun when the Denmaster had a hippie van at Scouts. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
