Hi everyone! We are joining McGuffy’s Reader’s Sparks, Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays and Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? blog hops.
Today we celebrate Martin Luther King Day in the USA so I chose a quote from him for my Spark: “Faith is taking that first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
I hope we are all brave enough and have enough faith to take that first step to wherever we want to be.
Now that Joanie has Gremmie under control , she has a book review. I read, French for Cats: All the French Your Cats Will Ever Need by Henry Beard. Here are some words I learned.
I purr- Je ronronne
I sleep -Je dors
the mouse -la souris
the fish-le poisson
I think I am going to cough up a fur ball- Je crois que je vaid cracher une boule de poils
I don’t know why they call fish poison, it not poison, it is tasty.
Thank you Joanie, I think your gremlin needs you now.
I have also been reading a lot. Before Christmas, I won Jackson Galaxy’s new book, Total Cat Mojo from Caren and Cody’s blog. I have been learning a lot from it. I sometimes think I know everything about cats after living with so many for so long, but that is definitely not the case. He actually recommends having a litter box in the bedroom and living room. Apparently, cats don’t like the privacy we do when going potty. Maybe that is why they like to join us in the bathroom 🙂
At the moment, we are not having issues, but if any do come up, I will try a box in one of those places despite not really wanting to have one in those areas. If you haven’t read this yet, I highly recommend it. ( I won a copy of the book, but I am under no obligation to review it. I just like to tell people about good books).
Ok, Joanie, here’s a little secret about French you should know: fish is not poison; poisson is pronounced “pwassohn.” It goes nasal at the end. You’re doing very well, though, and you are the only multilingual cat I know! Keep it up!
❤
Merci beaucoup- I learned that too 🙂
Thank you for the magnificent book review, Joanie! Now we know all of the most important French phrases, thanks to you. And I still need to read this Jackson Galaxy book. I never had a cat that required a litter box in the living room and bedroom until I brought Eddy home. She doesn’t like to use the main boxes that are in the spare room at my house, so I do indeed have one in my living room and bedroom, and those are the ones she uses. She’s not shy about it, either. Happy Monday!
I think you will enjoy the book. Eddy is funny 🙂
I say paws up to having litter boxes in the bedroom and living room! But for some weird reason, my human’s boyfriend nixes this idea.
I hope to not need them there either.
I have to look for the Jackson Galaxy book. That sounds perfect for me. I’ll check out the library. Do you watch his TV show? I find it really educational and funny, too.
It is a great book. I have seen the show, it is enjoyable.
Sounds like a good book. Almost all of the litter boxes are either in Mom’s bedroom or the bathroom next to the bedroom and they do get used a lot.
So glad Gremmie is under control. You all have a fantastic day.
It is a great book. We hope you had a nice day. XO
Ellen,
Faith is just that, stepping first and not know where your foot will land. I have to remind myself of this often when my human side dictates to do something other than relying totally on the Master for leadership. Thanks for the beautiful “Sparks” quote. MLK was a wise man.
You’re welcome. XO
I like that quote! And that sounds like a very interesting book.
Thank you.
Excellent quote! Hope the Gremlin is doing well. ~grin~ Have a great day!
Thank you 🙂 Gremmie is good.
Love the quote. Spot on.
Aww on the kitty. Love all the French you learned too.
I’m currently reading Unholy City by Carrie Smith. Very good book.
Have a purrfect Awww Monday. My best to your mom. ♥
Thank you and Joanie says Merci. 🙂
What a perfect book for our Mom to get, since she spent half last year trying to learn French – HA! And we like seeing her lips make funny shapes trying to pronounce any of it! Our Mom is getting ready to read Growth of the Soil, a book that was recommended to her by a friend and that is supposed to be all about garden and farming but she’s not sure of that.
That sounds like a good book. That is cool that your mom is learning French. I had 4 years of it in high school, but don’t remember much.
Sweet photo and great ‘spark’ ~
Happy Week to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Thank you 🙂
What a smart kittie! My cat thinks I need to read a book on the language of cats. Mwarr means Hello, Mwarrar means I’m hungry, Mwarrk means Let me in now! That sort of thing. I think he needs to read one on the language of humans. Buddy would not like a litter box in the living room. He wants total privacy when he visits the litter box. If we happen to walk in the room when he first steps into the box, he will get out and wait until we are gone. lol
That is funny that he likes privacy 🙂
That is a wonderful quote and so true!
Thank you 🙂
je t’aime is probably a useful phrase to add to your vocabulary.
Jackon’s advice seems contrary to putting litter boxes in quiet areas where cats feel safe and won’t be interrupted. Sorry, but unless kitty is physically limited, litter boxes will never be in my living room or near my kitchen – but I have a large enough house that it’s not a problem. 🙂
Unfortunately, I do have one in the corner of the kitchen. With 12 cats, we have them in a lot of places, but not the bedroom or living room.
Just because someone says you should put a litterbox in the bedroom, does not mean you have to do it! Jackson Galaxy isn’t sleeping in there!!! No thanks!
Good point 🙂
That quote is wonderful, and what a great spark. We do have multiple litter boxes here, including one in the bedroom.
Thank you 🙂
Great quote and learning French is very cool!
Thank you and Joanie says Merci.
Love your quote from MLK. Not being a cat person (they make my eyes itch), I have never given the location of a litter box a thought. However, living room wouldn’t have been near the top of my list. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Thank you 🙂
We like your Spark. What are we reading? Nothing yet but getting ready to to read a book I won by Courtney Livingston. How to survive your twenties. I can’t wait to see what I did when I was in my 20’s and what I didn’t do. LOL, MOL.
That sounds like fun 🙂
My cat does not know what privacy means. LOL I will have to check out the Jackson Galaxy’s books.
I think you will like it 🙂
i don’t know if I could ever put a litterbox in the bedroom! I will check out that Jackson book though!
I hope to not have to.
Oui Oui Joanie!! Vous etes fille intelligente!

Thee reedin DOES help her fur sure!
Tres bien!
Mai oui! Tre bien; pour sur!
But yes, very good for ? we don’t know what sur is 🙂
so incredibly happy that you are enjoying the book!
Thank you 🙂
Joanie, we appreciate the French lesson. We think Galaxy is a very interesting, knowledgable person but Mom really doesn’t want a box in her bedroom. We do have one in the living room hallway and 2 in the other bedroom.
Mom doesn’t want litter boxes in the bedroom or living room either. 🙂
You are such an adorable smart kitty! Actually ” Poison” and ” Fish” is very similar to pronounce in French yet little different. You are doing great, sweet Joanie. Thank you for your wonderful books review because I also want to search and read all. God bless you.
Merci beaucoup. 🙂 XO
Well done with your French lesson, Joanie ! You’re on the way for being a multilingual kitty like us ! Purrs
Merci 🙂
Wow, French for cats! What will they think of next. I need someone to bounce the French off of. Wonder if Phenny is up for a visit from me this year.?
A litter box in the living room,,,,I don’t think so. We’re too messy with the kitty litter besides I don’t want someone looking at me while I go potty. Really Jackson….you are out to lunch on this one.
Shoko
Maybe Cat Scouts should offer French lessons 🙂 XO
Bonjour! You have a very literate household; two book reviews today.
If we were having problems, we would (and have in the past) put litter boxes everywhere. Knock on wood, Rufus the Red and Mickey Mouser are OK with the three scattered about the house, none of which are in the Living Room.
xxoo
Glad you have no potty problems. 🙂 XO
We rec’d our package on Saturday and we thank you tons….it was very kind of you to send it.
Hugs madi and mom
It was kind of you to help Toby. XO
That is very interesting….I always thought cats wanted privacy when using the litter box!
I thought so too, but I guess not.
I’m adding Total Cat Mojo to my wishlist. Come see what I’m reading.
I think you will enjoy it.
I think I have French for Cats around here somewhere. And yes, there is always so much to learn from Jackson Galaxy.
French for Cats is about 20 years old.
My mom gave me French for Cats years ago. It’s such a cute book. I bet Jackson Galaxy’s book has a lot of good info. I’m currently reading Bran New Death and there’s an orange kitty in it.
I will have to look for that book, I like anything with a cat in it 🙂
Perhaps you need to look up where the French word for fish came from, i don’t believe it had anything to do with poison. What a fun comment, and these both sound like good books.
Thank you 🙂 XO
We arent shy, but TBT says our litter boxes are stayin in the basement. Iza tends to think that poops belong NEXT TO the boxes…
An out of box thinker 🙂
We know some Spanish since we’re part Mexicats but we don’t know any French. We’re impressed! As for litter boxes in the living room and bedroom, uh, that’s odd.
I hope to never need to have litter boxes in those places.
Nice quote. And Total Cat Mojo sounds fun. I think we can always learn more about the mysterious cat friends we have 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Thank you, Ellen. We do need to walk in faith.
I love Joanie. She is so cute. I must say, I do not agree with a litter box in my bedroom or living room. However, I do think there should be several. I have one in the bathroom, and it seems to be the most popular one. The one in my office is second most used.the one in the foyer is not as used, but is Clyde’s favourite one.
I am having Blogger commenting issues. When I comment, or even respond on my own blog, it takes numerous seconds to take. I reported it, and several bloggers chimed in that they are having trouble, too. I just want to make others aware. Hugs!
You’re welcome. And thank you, Joanie is a cutie and so sweet. I am sorry about the blogger commenting troubles, I hope they get fixed soon. XO
Ces’t nuit…
Je suis en retard… Excusez-moi pour mon retard.
Anypaws, we have 2 boxes here…one in the unused part of the kitchen…I can even stand on it and look at the birds outside, MOL! The other one is in pawppy’s office, where he spends a lot of time each day. We don’t use our living room too much. Petcretary’s desk is in the livingroom…I am the most user of the livingroom, I have my toys there, and several ‘nests’. It is a doggy free zone as is pawppy’s office for the most part.
Au revoir!
Bonne Nuit!
We think you said It is night, I am tired- Joanie needs to learn more French and I haven’t had a French lesson on 30 years. XO
I did say its night…but then I said excuse me for being late, MOL!!!
And later, good bye and good night:)
I know some German and Dutch and Italian, too…and Petcretary knows about to phrases in Polish. I hear her use all those languages from time to time but Dutch is her best. Our Auntie, (Petcretary’s sister) has a degree in languages, she majored in German. My unfurbro-the-elder took 6 semesters of Mandarin(!!) when he was at college…
I guess we need a lot more lessons 🙂 Mandarin must be very hard.
Perhaps this is a post that Les Deux Divas shall have to address in the future. This human has it directly from the divas that all felines are multi-lingual. They are both French, this human, an ex-pat. We have a number of friends from a variety of countries who stop by. If the feline appears not to understand, I am instructed, it is because they do not acknowledge what you have to say. In my own travels, I’ve never met a feline I could not communicate with.
Yes, cats do seem to understand any language, especially when food is involved 🙂
LOL! I love the French interpretations….especially the one about fish and poison. 🙂 I think I need to draw the line at putting litter boxes in the bedroom. Not my idea of a serene, peaceful atmosphere! Love your spark and think it perfectly applies to most lives. It’s so hard to take that first step, trusting that there is actually a staircase for safe travel.
Thank you. I am not planning on a litter box in the bedroom unless we get desperate. 🙂
Good job Joanie. Glad you’re not havin’ any purroblems. That’s always a good thing. Big hugs
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
Sur with a ^ over the u means sure….so mee sorta mee-yowed fur sure!
Merci! XO
De rien!! 🙂
