Phoebe Gives a Lucy Update

Hi everyone, I am too sad to write much today. 014Thank you all for the purrs and prayers for Lucy. The prednisone seemed to help because Lucy was hungry Wednesday morning, but then she wasn’t at night. We are hopeful that when she gets another dose in the morning, she will be hungry again.

My Grammie came to see Lucy and all of us. I love my Grammie so very much and I love Lucy very much too.

Purrs and Prayers for LucyThank you Ann of Zoolatry for this graphic and thank you Madi (http://downhomeinnc.blogspot.com/ ) for adding Lucy to the POTP blog.

    1. I tried it a few weeks ago and she ate it once then snubbed it. I still have some, I will try again now that she has the appetite stimulant. Thank you.

  1. Sounds like you’re having a bit of a rollercoaster ride with Lucy’s appetite, but I think that’s to be expected. When my Smokey was undergoing chemo for lymphoma her appetite was sometimes stimulated by sprinkling super-finely chopped fresh catnip on top of her food.

It’s a good thing your Grammie came to visit. Grammie’s always make things better!

    Purrs.

    1. I will have to try the catnip idea- I have plenty of that. Grammie even delivered us some pain meds and an appetite stimulant from the vet so I could stay home with Lucy.

  2. We’ve read about your purrecious Lucy yesterday, Phoebe, but we weren’t able to tell you, that Granny and I sent Healing Pawkisses and Purrayers. We continue the Healing Pawkisses and Purrayers. Please eat, Lucy, you can do it <3 <3 <3

  3. Lucy, we are sending BIG woofs out and lots of prayers for you. Keeping all our paws crossed and sending healing Havachon hugs your way.

  4. Thank you for the update Phoebe. I am keeping my strongest purrs coming for Lucy. I have Prednisalone twice a day and it helps me eat.

    1. Thank you Flynn, we are purring and praying for you too. And thank your Mum for answering my email questions about your meds.

  5. We are continuing to purr and pray for dear, sweet Lucy. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

    1. Sweet purrince please thank your Mum for calling me about this. It really got me motivated to bug the vet for this- I called twice because I was so impatient waiting for the call. She will get 1/8 of a pill every 3 days- I wonder how long it takes to kick in? Sending you both lots of love from me and Phoebe too. XO

      1. Hello Ellen: I see the Vet is being a bit conservative with the dosage. However if you can get it into Lucy every 3 days she will eat far better than Nylablue did.
“Mirt” usually works fairly quickly. With Nylablue she was eating within 20 minutes of being pilled.
Also if Lucy seems a bit ‘spacey’ or ‘zombie’ like that is completely normal with this med.
        How is Lucy tonite?

        1. She is still not any hungrier than before, she refused 2 kinds of food and tuna.. I got her to eat some deli roast beef. SHe is very spacey- probably from that and the pain meds. I am getting very scared, I was hoping she would be hungrier. XO

          1. Oh dear this does NOT bode well at all Ellen. I do not know what to say. I would give Lucy another 1/4…she won’tbe any ‘spacier’….& hopefully it will kickstart her appetite.
The problem is her illness is far different to Nylablue’s & could be harder to get & keep her eating….I wish I had another idea….

  7. We are continuing to send tons of hugs and POTP to Lucy……..and prayers to all of you. Hoping Lucy will keep up her strength for the fight with the help of all the love she gets from her family.

    Love, Sammy

    1. Thank you- you are very sweet. I keep thinking of you and what happened with Truffles, it makes me realize how fortunate I am to have had so many years with her.

  10. Hi Phoebe. We hope Lucy ate today. Maybe be patient. It may take a while for her to start eating like she did, or even somewhat like she did. We sure hope she has a lot of time with you.

    1. Thank you, she still isn’t eating more than a couple bites at a time, I know she probably won’t ever eat as much as before, but she has to do better than that 🙁 Thank you for your kind words.

  11. Hi Ellen. We wanted to check in on you to see how Lucy is doing. We hope the appetite stimulant is working. It took a few days before Isadora really got back to eating as much as she once had once she was on an appetite stimulant. We also mixed Hill’s science a/d in her food which I’m sure you know about. I’m sure you’ve tried a bit of tuna or fresh chicken but have you tried sliced ham? It seems odd but when our Angel Leo was unwell and his appetite was off he loved ham! We are sending you all our love Ellen. We know is sucks when a furbaby is unwell.Keep us posted. We are with you in spirit.
