3. Inneresting article and I’m glad my Mylar balls are safe toys. TW also cuts bells and stuff off the toys. Luckily I never ate the foam rockets. I can’t really play with wand toys since my claws get caught in them. I once almost got the string wrapped around my neck but TW saved me. I wouldn’t play wand toy for years after than. I’m surprised lasers aren’t listed since shown in a cat’s eyes, they could be dangerous.

   That article is really interesting, and very extensive. We’re hyper vigilant about making sure our cats’ toys are as safe as possible.

7. Thanks for that list….unfortunately people forget that the little dangly things and plastic balls with things inside can BREAK and the pieces can be eaten and that is just not good. You’re a thoughtful Mom!! Rosie has the best seat in the house (and warmest).

8. I reposted the pet toy safety post on Facebook. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I guess most of us can find at least one or two pet toys to modify or toss out among those our cats’ and dogs’ toys.

    Our first cat was more into checking out way to many things that were not safe. I learned never to buy toys that had any kind of pieces and parts that could be bitten off.

    I’ve cut so many things from cat toys over the years, and have thrown some store-bought toys straight into the garbage, ones that were gifted to me but I didn’t purchase.

22. Aside from a feather on a stick, my cats don’t like “bought” toys. They like the catnip sacks I make with no added stuff although they will steal the occasional bottle top. It’s good to be vigilant.

31. Excellent point about the bells. I’ve never had a cat that ate non-food things, but I can definitely see the danger.

    1. Same here, but my niece’s cat used to eat anything string like including tank tops with spaghetti straps and charger cords.

32. Yes, it’s sad that there are no regulations for pet toys. Some of them are hazardous!
