Hi everyone. Do you like this hat better than the one I wore last week?
Sammy and mom are teaching a class tomorrow at Cat Scouts on how to make a paw print ornament so I thought I could do a class right here. If you are a Cat Scout please close your eyes or maybe don’t tell Sammy you saw this post.
All you need is a cup of flour, a cup of salt and 3/4 cup water. Then you stir them all together and roll it out. Mom put it on a cutting board covered with wax paper so it would be easy for us to walk on. Then she used a glass to cut a circle around the print. And she poked a little hole for the string at the top.
Then you dry them out in a 200 degree F oven for about 3 hours. Mom put ours on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. If you don’t use parchment paper , you may need to keep them in the oven for 30 extra minutes. The last 30 minutes, you should flip them over to be sure the back is dry too.
When they are done, you can decorate them however you want. I glued a shiny 2021 Penny to the back and I painted the front pink.
It still needs to be coated with a clear Krylon. You can also use clear nail polish. As you can see it is the only ornament on the tree so far. Mom is slacking.

TBT is sure not THAT creative. We have big bought stuff for the big tree and small stuff for our own little cat tree, but none handmade!
I bet he could handle this to get Lori’s wee little paw print. XO

Your mom is never a slacker in my estimation. 🙂 And thanks for this tip! I want to get prints and the dough I bought is way too elastic. They impressions don’t stay.
Mom thanks you. 🙂 This one works good. XO

It may be the only ornament on the tree, but it is the most important ornament!!
Purrs, Julie
Awww..thank you. XO
Penny, we love that! We’re going to try to get our mom to help us make some.
Thatis so nice of you to share how to make that ornament. We might see if Mom will help us make some too.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Thank you. 🙂 She should make some with you. XO
Charlee: “A tree could do worse than to have its only ornament be a cat paw. I’m just saying.”
Chaplin: “Hey do you think we could eat the part of the flour that doesn’t end up turning into an ornament? Asking for a friend.”
You would not want to eat this, it has a cup of salt in it. XO
Just like the cat paw prints in the cement sidewalk near our house; purrfectly preserved for posterity!
MOL! 🙂
