Friendly Fill-Ins Week 263

Hi everyone! Time for the fill-ins. I came up with the first two sentences and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two. My answers:
1. I am overdue to get my eyes examined. I have always had great eyesight, but lately I am having a tough time with smaller print.
2. I am so sick of the media vilifying men. I realize I have been blessed as to never been harmed and I feel bad for those who have been, but I think there are just as many bad women out there as there are men. It is too easy to accuse and ruin a man’s reputation. And as far as actresses claiming rape after having accepted a role from a director- that is what I call prostitution.  I know this is going to set some people off and I try to keep things fun on here, but I feel strongly about these things.
3. Doritos with cotage cheese is a strange snack I like to eat. The cottage cheese cools off the Doritos.
4. A bottle of embalming fluid is one of the most random things I own. It was in my hubby’s father’s barn and I thought it would be a cool Halloween decoration. No worries, he was a nice guy, but a hunter so I assume at some point he stuffed something for his camp.

  1. You would be probably like cottage cheese with chunky salsa. I use mild because medium is to spicy. The coolness of the cottage cheese is so good together with the tortilla chips.

  2. I was thinking of an eye exam before the pandemic….now I’m really overdue. That’s an interesting snack and sounds tasty. I’ll have to give it a try.

  5. I read a study yesterday of sexual assaults on college campuses.About 47% were reported by men who were assaulted by women. So, your ideas are not as far off as some would think.😔

  6. Another great week of fill ins. I’m way overdue for getting an eye exam too. You make some excellent points in #2. I never tried cottage cheese with Doritos, although I do like Doritos. Angel Millie looked so cute. Have a great weekend!

    2. I am so sick of all the potical upheavals, all over the country, and both sides are guilty. They need to go back to kindergarten to relearn manners!.
    3. Seaweed ‘chips’is a strange snack I like to eat. However, if you are of Asian culture, you will certainly be familiar with those. They are yummy:)
    Not sure any of my other snacks are strange…
    4. A doctor’s handbook from the 1800’s is one of the most random things I own. (Its a little book, presumably put together for a new MD, getting ready to start his own practice. II found it at a used book sale years ago.)

  9. Angel Millie certainly is “into STUFF” – love that !! Everyone is behind on medical appointment for various things. We were all “frozen in place” this past year…………..good job on filling in too.

  11. Embalming fluid! That is spooky for Halloween, and i can imagine a hunter might have use for it.

    The issues of our day are so complicated, i am sure if we talked in person we are more on the same page than not.

  12. Ms. Ellen, it sounds like you ‘hit the target’ with the eye exam answer. IF you are having problems with cataracts or some other issues, Look into using the cold-pressed hexane free castor oil drops at night… For some unknown reason, this seems to break down the proteins that accumulate in the lens.

  13. THANK you for that about men. I wrote a blog about that very topic last year. You may have seen it (human blog…not Katie’s). There are bad people of both sexes and men are being bashed constantly. Women are not better than men. Men are not better than women. Bth are equally at fault. In other words…keep your judgements to yourselves because no one here is worthy of the judgement.

  14. Doritos with cottage cheese sounds positively delicious. I have cottage cheese and will be picking up a bag of Doritos today! The old bottle of embalming fluid is quite interesting. Angel Millie♥

    1. I am overdue to go to my favorite food store and purchase Key Lime pie.
    2. I am so sick of the lack of rain in our little bit of the world.
    3. Pepperidge Farm’s fish pretzels dipped in peanut butter is a strange snack I like to eat.
    4. A large glass container full of shark teeth all collected on Venice Beach is one of the most random things I own.

    Having bad eyes from a baby, I know how impawtant it is to have a professional monitor one’s eyes. Please make your appointment with an opthamologist or optometrist soon.

  17. I used to be quite fond of Fritos and Orange juice as a snack. However, I don’t recall the last time I had that snack. The news media needs to change up their presentation everything is breaking news and all weather is severe. Seems shock and horror headlines grab attention.

  19. Cottage cheese on Doritos sound like a delicious snack to me. I feel men get a bad rap unnecessarily so. One bad egg doesn’t mean all the eggs are bad. It seems too many want to get on the bandwagon of blame without validity.

    I too need to go have eyes retested & new glasses!
    And I am sick of Covid & all these lockdowns…altho’ Stay-At-Home order is lifted our clothing & shoe stores are only open like 20$ capacity…what a load of sh*cods wallop…we are all msked & sanitized…just open the darn stores so we can buy “NON-ESSANTIAL Underwear, socks, clothing, shoes & baby/kidlet clothing etc!

Even when we had that last year, our local Walmart still let people buy clothes, toys, etc. I have been too busy lately and would like a shut down in my area. I can see why you want things to open up again, that is a long time. XO

  22. I love your fill-ins. I’m with you on the men bashing. The world has gone crazy and the U.S. seems to be the craziest.

    I laughed out loud at Angel Millie getting into stuff. Nice play on words.

    1. I am overdue to cleaning the two bathrooms upstairs in preparation for the new toilets getting installed next Thursday..
    2. I am so sick of the lamestream media. They make up way to many stories that are lies.
    3. I don’t snack so there isn’t a strange snack I like to eat.
    4. One of my dads shirts is one of the most random things I own. He passed away in 1996.

    4. An antique player organ is one of the most random things I used to own. I eventually donated it to an Organ Museum in Oregon City Oregon.

  29. Dorito’s with cottage Cheese was a great find, Ellen. There are probably more men that commit crimes….this was happening when I took Criminology in college. That was over 20 years ago but I believe men do hail hearty in that area. However, there are women in the criminal justice system. Some of them are real rotters too! Women tend to find ways to get back at someone that doesn’t break the law. They still are miserable peeps though. I do believe women are getting into more crimes today than 10 years go. Such as attacking peeps of Asian decent. Actually these horrible attacks have mom wondering about people.

  32. Time for Mom to get her eyes checked too, but she is worried the doctor is going to say it is time for cataract surgery – not what she wants to hear. Cottage cheese and doritos sounds very odd, but sometimes those odd combos make the best snacks.

  33. I got new glasses (for distances) last summer when my old ones broke and now my close up vision isn’t as good. I’m tempted to try doritos and cottage cheese. #4 is really cool! And I agree with you 1000% on #2 and am glad you said it.

  35. I’m not sure which I find weirder – the Doritos with cottage cheese or the embalming fluid. LOL
    I’m basically just sick of all the garbage that comes out of Hollywood anyway. I don’t know why so many people worship those people so. They are all overpaid for what they do, when other people in the world do more important jobs and struggle financially.

  40. Fantastic fill-ins! I appreciate your honest answer to #2, and I have similar thoughts on this matter. I don’t wish any ill on anyone, and like you I’m blessed to have never experienced any of the horrors that many women sadly do face. I’m all about empowering women just as much as men, but even so, I feel like we’ve entered a world where men can be and often are accused of anything, anytime, whether or not there’s proof. If a man has done something heinous, I strongly believe justice needs to be sought. That said, I also feel like some women falsely cry wolf against men for one reason or another. I personally know of a man who had an ex-girlfriend accuse him of doing to her terrible things he never did. He spent time in jail, where he himself experienced horrors, until it was found that he was actually indeed innocent, because she had been lying, and only then was he was set free. Again, I wish no ill on anyone, and I’m all for girl power, but I completely agree with you that men should not so haphazardly be vilified. On a lighter note, Doritos and cottage cheese sounds delicious. My family actually makes a recipe for a dip that includes cottage cheese, and Doritos are the chip of choice for that dip.
