Happy Monday everyone! I was planning a great idea to make a paw print ornament, but it didn’t work out. I was too lazy to deal with the dough kind, but now I am going to try that for next week. I bought a bunch of plastic ornaments and planned toย have each kitty’s paw print on one with non-toxic paint. I tried with Millie and all I got was a big glob of paint. I forgot their fur would be in the way. And poor Millie has a blue paw now ( it is a pretty color).
So for fun and games this week, we have bird TV. When I got back from the mall on Saturday, the porch was filled with bags of bird seed. I figured my hubby got tired of me calling him a cheapo, but it was a cardinal chirping at him while he was outside that got him to put up the bird feeders.
I scared the birds when I opened the window ( I left the screen down though so no cats would jump out).
The cats love watching the blue jays, cardinals, woodpeckers, nuthatches, juncos, goldfinches and grossbeaks. Even if you can’t afford to put a variety out, you could throw out some bread or popcorn.
I also found a cheap idea at: http://thinkcrafts.com/blog/2014/04/14/easy-bird-treat/ย . You just take an empty toilet paper roll and coat it with peanut butter then you roll it in bird seed.
Great idea for the pawprint ornaments AND the toilet roll bird feeder! You are SO clever!
Hugs, Sammy
We love watching Bird TV too. The mom filled all the feeders this weekend and we really had a good show to watch.
I am glad you have lots o to watch too.
Sorry to hear about Millie’s blue paw, but we are glad it was non-toxic paint. ๐
Hooray for Bird TV! We love your clever ideas for feeding/attracting those feathered friends.
Thank you ๐
Awww Millie you have a lovely blue paw. That was a good idea. Wish it had worked out like you had wanted.
Thank you- I wish it had too.
That cardboard bird feeder idea is brilliant. Seriously!
Thank you, I wish it was my idea, but I got it from the website I put the link for.
The blue paw might impress Santa!
I hope it isn’t still blue for Christmas.

I hope to get an original Quint someday. Yes, we have snow, but not too much.
Kitty paws ARE notoriously hard to control… MOL!
They sure are- I am lucky my shirt wasn’t covered in paw prints.
At least you tried to make the ornaments! At best, all I could get was Angel chewing on the corner of a couple of Christmas cards, but that’s it for ‘arts and crafts’ around our house.
Try is the key word ๐
Hey! Our brother Quint knows that paw color thing well. Very well! MOL! Yippee for bird seed (and for bird TV)! Thanks for that bird seed tip. Our mom is always looking for ways to help fill those bird bellies! Purrs….
We love watching Bird TV too. ๐ xx Roxy & Tigerlino <3
I am glad you get the bird channel too.
Paw prints always *seem* like a good idea. ๐
I have bird tv, but there aren’t many channels. We get Western scrub jays (like blue jays), hummingbirds, and Black Phoebe. Mom’s calls the phoebe “crazy bird” because it has a crazy flight pattern as it catches bugs. Very rarely we get a few quail walking through the yard.
I would love to see the Black Phoebe bird. I miss our hummingbirds, they left quite a while ago for the winter.
You guys get a way better variety of birds for Bird TV than we do. We have sparrows, some blue jays and lots of squirrels.
I hope we don’t get squirrels, but we usually do. They can be very destructive to the feeders.
Dad hangs feeders from the tree outside the window so I have Bird TV when it is too cold or wet to go out.
Your Dad sounds very nice to do that for you.
I sooooooooooooo love the toilet paper roll idea! Brilliant!!!!! Love the popcorn idea as well!
Thank you, I wish the toilet paper was my idea, but I found it on the link I posted.
We hope our Mom does not get any ideas about our paws!
Mom always puts out seed and likes the TP roll idea ๐
We bet the squirrels will too. heehee

Hopefully your mom will learn from my mistake and not paint your paw.
I used to save all the rendered fat from bacon, ect, warm it up and blend in bird seed for home-made suet. I would use tupperware sandwich keepers for the molds and chill ’em. It only works in cold weather but the birds LOVED it.
That was a good idea. I used to mix peanut butter and store bought lard, but it is pricey.
Iโve seen that peanut butter bird thing. Iโve also seen recipes for DIY cat/dog rint ornaments. I made Charlie Rascal have a pink paw when I axed for his pawtograph.
I was thinking of using a stamp pad, but I didn’t know if it was toxic.
You can also do the peanut butter and bird seed with pinecones as well. They hold up better in the rain and snow. We go through about 5 pounds of bird seed a week trying to keep bird TV up and running. It does make us so happy to be able to watch the birdies efurryday! Thank you, that is a good idea- good point about the rain.
Wow, it sure does sound like you have great Bird TV!
Thank you ๐
