Friendly Fill-Ins Week 224

Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. I came up with the first two sentences and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two. If you didn’t do a post for them, you can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you.

1. I wish I had been alive during ___________________________.
2. My favorite way to have apples is ______________________.
3. I was sad to find out that _________.
4. _________ isn’t rocket science.
My answers-
1. I wish I had been alive during the 1940’s and 50’s. It was a simpler time and I love the fashions.
2. My favorite way to have apples is in Swedish Apple pie, but I love them pretty much any way.
3. I was sad to find out that another Cat Scout passed away. In the past month there have been three that went to The Rainbow Bridge: Mau, Allie and now, Obi.
4.  Rescuing cats isn’t rocket science. I wish more people would do it.
We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus.

Here is a flashback photo of my Angel Lucy from September 2015. Today is the 5 year anniversary of her leaving for The Rainbow Bridge. I miss my little grump.
And we will never forget-

  1. Ohhh mom says she wishes for the 50s often. She adores the fashion and pyrex and everything. Just how simple stuff was then.

Angel Lucy was so beautiful with such a sweet face. We’re sorry to hear that Obi has passed away 🙁

  2. Aw, yes–it hardly seems like 9-11 was nineteen years ago. The Human amembers it like it was yesterday, kinda like she remembers the JFK assassination even though she was just 13. It was the most gigantic shock of her life cause she never knew before that such awful things could happen. For a lot of younger peeps, she thinks 9-11 was that same shock.

  3. Angel lucy is lovely 🧡 thanks for sharing her memory with us. I specially like your 4th fill-in 👍🐈🐩🐏🐐🦌🐾

  4. Your #4 is wonderful. I did try to rescue some momma cats that brought their kittens to us…sadly it didn’t work out. One family was brought into the local no kill shelter, I do hope they all found good homes.

    1. I wish I had been alive during the times from about 1700 1800. Most of the music I love was from those days, and living then seems elegant to me, though I think I would rather miss the conveniences we have now…sometimes I wonder what the composers of that era would do/think about these times.
    2. My favorite way to have apples is baked with cranberries and walnuts, sweetened with maple syrup, MMMM! I like raw apples too, though..
    3. I was sad to find out that some of my fave co-workers are leaving for other jobs. I will miss them.
    4. Cooking and baking isn’t rocket science, though sometimes things do seem rather complicated!

    We will never ever forget…

    1. Thank you for these great answers. #1 is interesting, I would be too afraid of illness back then without meds. That sounds like a good way to have apples. I am sorry some coworkers are leaving. XO

  5. My Mom feels much like you Miss Ellen with thinking life was easier and more simple in earlier decades! We are super sad about losing ANOTHER Scout this past week too. Constantly saying goodbye to friends is hard on our hearts. My Mom says she will NEVER forget 9/11 – ever.

    Hugs, Teddy

  6. I said the roaring 20’s, but you’re right to pick the 40’s -50’s.
And Mom said she will never forget 9/11 either. I think there isn’t much about it any longer. But *I* will never forget that horrible act and day.

  7. Aw, on Angel Lucy. Our Little Bit will be gone 5 years next month. We miss her every single day.

Love all your fill-ins. You are such a great cat mom.

Thank you for co-hosting the Friendly Fill-ins and joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, Ellen. Scritches to all the kittiees. ♥.

  8. Yet another loss? ~sigh~ That’s so sad. And yes, this date is a rather difficult one to stomach.

As for rescues, we keep waffling about whether Jezebel would do well with another older cat or maybe a young bonded pair. In the meantime, I guess I’ve been waiting for God to figure it out for us as He did with Luna, Tilly, and Jezzy. ~grin~

  9. Great answers. I picked the 1950’s too. It’s really so sad about all the cats crossing the Rainbow Bridge lately. I still can’t believe my Trudy is gone for 6 months already.

I hope you have a great weekend.

  10. 1. I wish I had been alive during…..just the time I was alive. The 50’s and 60’s is when I grew up. There were not the temptations for teenagers but they still had problems like glue sniffing,,,battered women etc. Those were just not discussed in polite families.
    .
    2. My favorite way to have apples is ….apple crisp or apple turnover.
    .
    3. I was sad to find out that…..so many .kitties have left for the bridge this month and it’s not even half over yet.

    4. Watering houseplants isn’t rocket science. However when overwatered and I don’t think they’re overwatered it seems this way.

    Jean

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I like apple crisp too 🙂 I know what you mean about houseplants. XO

  11. I wasn’t sure what Swedish apple pie was, so I had to look it up! It’s quite similar to a recipe I’ve been making for years that I got from my hubby’s late sister. It’s always been a favorite!

  12. A special day of remembrance for us all. Totally agree with #1! I really should’ve been a 50s girl.

  13. TW was alive during half of the 50s but doesn’t remember anything about it. We haven’t had much time to work on the fill-ins but this is what we have kinda.
    1. I wish I had been alive during ___________________________.
    2. My favorite way to have apples is none. TW likes macoun apples raw, and applies in turkey stuffing or sparkling cider.
    3. I was sad to find out that TW is dealing with medical issues.
    4. Controlling a pandemic isn’t rocket science. Seriously. Everyone wears masks, social distances and you shut down the state for a few weeks.
    Thanks for hosting the fill-ins.

  14. Mom is too independent to want to go back to the 50’s – when women generally didn’t work, couldn’t have bank accounts, and all that other nonsense. But they did make solid tools and products back then, so she would like that!

  15. 1. I wish I had been alive during the roaring twenties- even tho there were hard times ahead I think people were more kind and less selfish then. Now it seems it’s all about themselves.
    2. My favorite way to have apples is pie please!.
    3. I was sad to find out that so many people are losing their homes due to the wildfires.
    4. Being kind isn’t rocket science.

    1. Thank you for your answers. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the wildfires. Very true about being kind, I wish more people were. XO

    1. I wish I had been alive during Ancient Egypt! I would have been a follower of Bast.
    2. My favorite way to have apples is baked! With raisins and oatmeal and cream.
    3. I was sad to find out that 9-11 happened! I had been in a car accident and had a major concussion. I don’t remember anything until about year and a half later.
    4. To me, leaning new computer software isn’t rocket science.
    Purrs and Love
Marv, Jo Jo, Kozmo, Cinnamon and Angel Nellie

    1. Thank you for your fill-in answers. I am sorry that you had a major concussion. It sure has been a sad year. XO

  18. Great Fill-ins, and we’re so sad to hear Obi from Cat Scouts has departed for the Angel realm, we haven’t been to Cat Scouts since Basil departed… think we’ll have to sign up Melvyn… gorgeous selfie of Angel Lucy today! Big hugs XOX

  19. What thoughtful fill-ins. So many angels have gained their wings recently, and my thoughts and prayers are with all of their families. And you answered #4 purrfectly! It’s always nice to see your sweet angel Lucy. What a beauty she was and always will be. Purrs!
