Hi everyone! Today is the last day of The A-Z Challenge. Thank you to everyone who read my posts and/or commented. I tried to include a lot of fellow bloggers and I apologize if I missed anyone’s book. This was just the tip of the iceberg with cat books, there are so many out there.
Back in 2016, I wrote about The Chronicles of Zee and Zoey by Deborah Barnes. A great book, to read my review, click here.
This year, I am recommending The Timeless Teachings of Guru Zuzu by Tony Broadbent. It is a sweet tribute to the author’s beloved Bombay cat. The photos are adorable.
I am skipping the poem today, my brain wasn’t in poetry mode this week. We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am thankful that Brian’s Dad is out of the hospital. I am also thankful that Jinx ( photo above) had a good vet visit. He will be 18 in June and has lost weight so I was getting nervous. He is now on thyroid meds. His early detection kidney test showed the start of kidney disease, but his regular numbers were good. We are going to try fluids a few times a week to help. His personality has changed so much. He always had to be segregated from other cats because he would knock them over and go for the neck. Now he is fine with everyone which gives him freedom to go where he wants in the house.
And one more thankful -that my vet is still allowing pet parents in the exam room. It is a huge pet peeve ( pardon the pun)of mine the way most vet offices are working right now. No one would expect a parent to let a tech escort their child in to see the pediatrician while the parent waited in the car. I feel we should all be allowed in with our pets. I think a mask and gloves should be required, but I think it is unfair to not allow us in being that most pets are already scared when going to the vet. Sorry for that rant, but it has been driving me crazy despite the fact that I do still get to go in, I am upset for all those that can’t go in.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.
I am also joining The Quilting Patch blog’s A-Z party.
I am glad you got to go in with Jinx. Hope the meds will help him. And hooray for his calmer self!
I know the vets here for the most part are doing that take the pet away from their pawrent…but I have not heard about how MY vet is doing it.
( I am against it too, a mask and gloves would do the trick…)
Unless we have an emergency, we do not need to go there until August at the earliest.
Thank you 🙂 I hope you don’t have to go to the vet until August. XO
I am glad that Jinx had a good vet visit and hope the thyroid meds work well for him.
Thank you 🙂 XO
I agree about letting peeps go in with their pets. It isn’t right to not be with them for so many reasons. I would want to be face to face with the vet to discuss issues during the visit. Subtle things missed when you can’t see a facial expression and can’t ask questions as an exam us done. Good news about Jinx! I am all for photos of cats! Have to check out your book on this last day! You did good Ellen. Lots of good books to consider!
Thank you 🙂 Yes, my vet says she needs to be able to ask questions. XO
We’re glad Jinx is doing well. Mom can’t imagine not going into the vet office with any of us. We hope that never has to happen.
You did a super job on the Challenge!
The Florida Furkids
Thank you 🙂
I agree with you about the pet-parents going into the vet. When I took Twix last week my vet allowed one person in – which worked out fine with me since I’m the one not working right now. I did tell them though that if anything changed before my appointment to let me know because
I would postpone the appointment if needed because I wanted to go in!
🙂
thank you for your A-A
that was supposed to say A-Z
🙂
I am glad you were able to go in with Twix. XO
We’re also glad that Brian’s dad is out of the hospital. Thank you for the recommendation!
You’re welcome.:)XO
I found “The Timeless Teachings of Guru Zuzu” at a bookstore while in Denver last year; I tend to collect cat books, especially one’s that I haven’t seen before. It’s delightful!
It is delightful.
I agree that’s it’s a comfort to go with your babies to the vet. A comfort for them and for you.
I’m glad that Jinx had a good vet visit. That’s always a plus.
I’m ready for the Friendly Fill-ins. Great questions.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Ellen. Big hug to you and scritches to all the kitties. ♥
Thank you 🙂 I look forward to your fill-ins. XO
Those were terrific Z choices. I’m glad Jinx is doing okay and how wonderful for him to get the run on the house. The Dad says thanks for the kind words. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Thank you 🙂
I’m glad that Jinx is doing better and glad you were able to go into the Vet’s exam room with Jinx. Best to all for a wonderful day today.
Thank you 🙂
I am thrilled you could go in with Jinx. Cats get stressed enough w/o having to be with out the support system going in with them.
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you 🙂 XO
Congratulations on an excellent take on the challenge. I’m so glad Brian’s dad is home and that Jinx is on the necessary medication. I hope he’s doing well. ~hugs~ Relinquishing my pet would bother me, too. 🙁 I hope we can return to some sense of normalcy. Take care, my dear.
Thank you 🙂 I fear normal is a long way off.. Take care too!
Another fantastic book you’re sharing with us! And I’m so glad Jinx is doing well. Purrs and prayers to him! None of my kitties or pup have needed a vet visit lately, but if they did I’d be a nervous wreck if I couldn’t go in with them. I can’t wait to see your fill-ins tomorrow!
Thank you 🙂 I look forward to yours too.
Jinx looks good, Ellen, he doesn’t look his age at all. I have to concatulate on your A to Z challenge, Granny and I think it’s a fantastic archievement🎉😺Pawkisses for a Happy Thursday to all of you. Stay Safe Healthy and Yourselfie🙏🐾😽💞
Thank you 🙂 Pawkisses to you too. XO

Thank you 🙂 Glad you agree. XO
I’m so glad Jinx had a good check-up, Ellen. Hopefully his meds will be helpful to him. He is a beautiful black kitty! Enjoyed the book review, and we are also glad that Brian’s Dad is out of the hospital.
Thank you 🙂 XO
Kudos to you for completing the challenge! These alphabet challenges are definitely a challenge! thankfully, I’ve not had to take a fur baby to the vet during this time but would agree with you on allowing pet parents the option of being there too as long as they wear masks and gloves. Our groomer is still shut down and Cabo is sort of a hot mess right now with his curly coat. Jinx is 18? Wow! I’m glad he can roam around again and not be aggressive to the others. Take care and be well. xoxo
Thank you 🙂 I hope you stay well too. XO
Zee and Zoey are good names to end the challenge! Great book reviews, and beautiful cats here!
Take care and stay healthy
Z is for Zakka
Thank you 🙂 Hope you stay healthy too.
Good review Ellen. So glad that Jinx had a good vet visit. It’s a worry of mine that my cat will need to go to the vet during this virus. Here we can’t go in and have to wait in the parking lot. You are so fortunate that you could be with Jinx. I hope the fluids help. Take care.
Thank you 🙂
Our Oscar (who is only about 12) is entering the final stages of CKD and he has very much mellowed. He has become a cuddler, instead of a grouch. He has gone in to get fluids without me and the techs tell me he is so weak and won’t stand up. When he comes home he marches out of the carrier, jumps to the bench, then the counter, and stares at me because it is suppertime. The vet and I finally figured out he has never gone into the vet without me until the past weeks, and he doesn’t like it.
We have also been assured that when the final decision is made, we will be permitted to go in with him. Hopefully, our vets will soon be able to open up a bit more.
I am so sorry that your Oscar is so sick. XO
Congratulations on completing the A to Z Challenge!
Thank you 🙂 ANd the same to you.
I said the exact same thing about dropping a child off in the parking lot!!! It’s so wrong, and pending something serious coming up, I refuse to do it.
Glad you agree. 🙂
I’m glad for you that Jinx had a good visit. I agree totally with your rant! When I leave a comment I check the box below that says add me to your mailing list. But it never does. I would like to follow you but I do not see an option on your site on how to do that? Could you let me know how to do that on one of my posts if you have a chance? Stay well, Deborah
Sorry about that, I am still trying to figure out why no one gets my posts. XO
Congratulations on a successful A to Z run! You have given me more book ideas than i needed, it will take a while to find all of them at the library but that’s a good thing.
Hope Jinx stays as well as possible for a long time to come.
Gee, that sounds like a good book 🙂
The fill-ins sound good. We look forward to your answers 😉
Purrs,Georgia and Julie
Thank you 🙂 XO
Concats for reaching Z but you’re a pro at this. Glad Jinx got a good report except for the thyroid. Aunt Pauline had a cat named Jinx who lived to 18 and maybe past it.
Thank you. 🙂 XO
Great post. I’m sorry you can’t go into the vet with your pet.
1. It is important to learn how to survive in the wilderness.
2.When I was an early teen, I was obsessed with ya horror stories.
3. I feel happy about an award I just won.
4. My lucky number is 237 (that’s a joke- it’s funny if you see how often it comes up in tv and movies, especially horror — it’s even the number that Stanley Kubrick used on the door in The Shining instead of 217, at the request of the hotel).
Congratulations on reaching z.
I hope you and yours are staying safe and healthy during this difficult time.

Thank you for these great answers. Congraty on winning an award and thank you for hosting the challenge.
Ellen,
Congrats on finishing up another year of A2Z! April sure was wild month. I’ve gotten behind on return visits but hope to remedy that in the next few days as I’m going to take some time away from Blogosphere to regroup while playing catch up. Have a good weekend and thanks for joining me for Cathy’s Pinup Girl Art Sketch Series!
Thank you. 🙂 Have a nice weekend.
I’m so glad that Jinx is fine. He looks very good for being 18. You’re fortunate in that you can go into the exam room. I messaged our vet and they only allow you in if you have to euthanize your pet. I was grateful for that, at least, because with Benny being 19+, it’s on my mind. (But he’s fine.)
I am glad they at least allow that, but as long as one wears a mask they should be allowed in any time. XO

Oh my gosh, yes, I totally agree! It is very stressful enough for our pets just visiting the vet never mind us not being there. Being handled by strangers and surrounded by strange smells and sounds is very difficult for them!
Hopefully this will change for everyone soon because pets need their parents. XO
wow! Jinx you are doing well for 18 yo ~ must be Mom’s great caregiving ~ sweet photo too.
