Penny’s Tips Volume 57

Hi everyone! I bet a lot of you bake at the holidays. These tips are for you.

Look at all this butter mom bought for only $1.99 a pound. She actually had more, but used a lot for baking. She got it at a grocery store called Aldi. If there is one near you, you should check it out. It is very plain inside and you have to bring your own bags and do the bagging yourself, but it is worth it for the savings. Mom got a dozen eggs for 69 cents, a half gallon of milk for 75 cents and 5 pounds of flour for $1.99. I checked on google and Aldi is in 35 states so I am sorry if there is not one in your state because you are missing out.

They also have an aisle of gift items including sweaters for pets. Mom scored this one for me for $4.99.

It is pretty cute. That is not a hole, it is for a leash to go through.

Now I have to go back to taking care of Rosie. Not sure why I got stuck with her, but she is pretty nice. She is a little nosey though, last night she opened all the kitchen cabinets and knocked a mug out of one- good thing it didn’t break.

  1. Penny, we have one of those stores here on the other side of town. Our dad does all the grocery shopping, and so we do not know if he has ever shopped there, but we are going to get Mom to tell him about it. That is a great sweater and an even better price. 2. My human has some baking to do, and while it’s farther than the other stores she use, there’s an Aldi not TOO far from us! So thanks for that tip, Penny!

  3. We have three Aldi in Plymouth and one is near us. They and Lidl are the two fasted growing supermarket companies in the UK with their bargain prices and weekly specials.
Your tip is very good Penny. I get the large tubs of butter and eggs etc from there for baking and lots of other things too.
Eric and Flynn’s last cat tree came from there too, and that is still in use by the shelter kitties.

  4. Hi Penny! I think you look quite nice in that sweater. There is an Aldi in Culpeper which is about 30-40 minutes from here. We know it’s a great store though from what we’ve heard. Saving money these days is tough so when you find a place that makes it EASIER – go for it right? I’m glad you are helping Rosie adjust to being there – she’s pretty clever opening cabinets up to see what’s what!

    Hugs, Teddy

  5. Penny, we have one here and I keep forgetting to try it out.

How sweet of you to take Rosie’s living in the house lessons on!

  6. Wow, that’s some huge savings. We don’t have that store here. I’m glad your mom did such a great job on her shopping.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. β™₯

  7. Penny you look so sweet in the Christmas sweater! You look like you are proud to wear it! We have an Aldi store about 15 minutes from us, going to have to give it a whirl. Buttah is good.. πŸ™‚ Penny are you sure it was Rosie that got in the cabinets? Just asking ya know.

  8. In our neck of the woods, we have Aldi across the street from Kroger. How convenient!! We shop at Aldi frequently and find some great deals there.

  9. That’s a very cute sweater. We have an Aldi here but the Mom and Dad don’t go often since it is exactly right in the middle of the worst traffic spot here.

  10. Penny, it is really good of you to help Rosie get comfortable at her new home.

We have Aldi’s in NE Ohio and they are great stores ! Very”plain Jane” but so helpful to save quite a few pennies .

  11. I had to have a look for the Aldi store and none in the state. Have to go down to California to visit, and that is not cost effective! I could use all the savings I could get though, but I don’t bake things myself. I am missing what “Llama” has to do with the sweater but I might be reading it wrong. I am more than half blind anyway! Wanted to get snow on my blog but I couldn’t do it. Oh well!

  12. Once i got to go to an Aldi, i loved it, but they are not in our state. A lady i know called their head office, and they said that our state is not good enough for businesses for them to come here, and that makes me sad but it is true.

    Love the llama sweater!

  13. Penny our mama has a question. She has plenty of lemons. She wants to make a pie like keylime, but lemons instead. Is that doable? My mama doesn’t bake at all, but is willing to try. Happy Holidays.

  14. I really should go to Aldi more often. There’s one on my way home from work, so I really have no excuse to miss out on all their deals. Penny, you look so purrfect and festive in your sweater! We tried a Christmas sweater on the kitties here, but pup Astrid is still the only furbaby at our house who’s willing to dress up. Penny, I’m also glad to hear that you kind of can’t help but be friends with Rosie. You two will be the best of friends soon enough!
