Hi everyone! I am a day late for Sabi Saturday, but here is my entry. (Sabi Saturday is a hop where you show something old, repurposed or upcycled. I have shown this in the past, but not for Sabi Saturday so here it is again.
This was my mom’s book as a child. I guess it is still technically hers, but I am the keeper of it. Does anyone know what Dolly Madison’s surprise was?
We are joining The Cat on My Headβs Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.
We have lots of participants today-
KaTwoJoanie wondering what I was thinking when I bought these striped pants.
I haven’t heard of that book so googled it to find out what the surprise was. I won’t put the answer here and spoil other guesses, but I did see the book was published in 1946, so is still in very good condition considering it is 73 years old.
Sweet selfies from everyone.
Thank you. XO
Hi all! Even though my Mom was born in 1947 she’s never seen or heard of this book so we don’t know what the surprise was!! Do tell……….please?
Hugs, Teddy
It was ice cream π XO
A Mom childhood book is a very good thing.
It is. π
I have never heard of this book. I googled… π Very sweet to have a book of your Mom’s from when she was little.
Everybody looks pretty happy about Sunday Selfies today.
Thank you. XO
Mom said she has a lot of old stuffs around and she said she would start looking to see if anything had any interest to us. But Prancie, KaTwo and Joanie…I bet that she may bring something out that was Robin’s. She saved some of her things. That was the matriarch kitty my brothers loved so dearly and she did too of course.
She should join the Sabi hop. XO
I don’t know what Dolly Madison’s surprise was but I would guess it would be what was really inside her Zingers. π
It was ice cream π
Happy Sunday dear ones.
I’m not familiar with the book either but I love the cover!!
As I do w/all books the covers draw me to them.
Hugs Cecilia

Everyone is looking relaxed and happy today, great selfies all! What was Dolly Madison’s surprise, is she the one who saved the flag from a fire? Or maybe she is the one who gave us all sugary goodness – MOL!
Thank you. It was ice cream π
Nothing wrong with stripy pants, its the zigzag ones that do the eyes in, MOL
I was wondering if Ms Madison’s surprise was a mouse, but Mrs H says she looks far too happy for it to be that, maybe she got a cat?
Lots of purrs

Hello, cuties! I am always so intrigued by children’s books and their titles, and I always feel compelled to read them to figure out what’s going on. I wonder what Dolly’s surprise was. Do you know, Joanie, but your lips are sealed?
It was ice cream for dessert for her guests π
[…] 15 and Meowing showes a children’s book her mother had as a child. […]
That’s cool that you have your mom’s childhood book.
Ice cream (reading the reply above)? I love ice cream.
