Happy Thursday-its Black Cat Awareness Day! I am a proud owner of 4 black kitties and they are all sweeties. All 4 are great with people and very sweet kitties.
I am a very superstitious person, but I don’t think black cats are bad luck. Or any color cat for that matter. I have so many superstitions ( thanks mom)–no birds in the house, don’t go in one door and out another, no shoes on the table( not that I would do that, but boxes of new ones), don’t go under a ladder, never count the cars in a funeral procession, its bad luck to whistle inside, etc….but I don’t believe black cats are bad luck. I actually think my luck is pretty good- I always say I am an even Steven- knock on wood-three times.
Here is one of our black cats, Tallulah posing as a Tribble and my hubby is Captain Kirk ( Star Trek fans will understand). Saturday, I will post a collage of all 4 cats as my art.
Please leave a comment today if you want to win a black cat pin with a cute little card that explains they are not bad luck- I will giveaway 2-winners will be announced tomorrow. Thanks for being loyal readers.
We are participating in PepiSmart Dog’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop-I am thankful that I have 4 wonderful black cats. And thanks again to Nellie of Catfromhell for our Jack O’ Lanterns
Black kitties are gorgeous……..we’ve always thought so………and Tallulah is proof of that! My Mom is not at all superstitious (she says) but STILL won’t walk under a ladder….that’s about the only thing she insists on though. HAPPY BLACK CAT DAY! The black cat pin is cute as can be.
Hugs, Sam and Mom
Thank you Sammy- we need a special day for white and orange cats too for you and my Sammy.
What a lovely thing for you to do to raise awareness. Black is just as beautiful as any other colour xxx
Yes, they are, but sadly black dogs and cats have the hardest time getting adopted.
Me!Me!Me! I want to win!!! Thank you for being such good furiends and commenting so often even though we are SOOOOO unreliable (thanks a lot, Human)! Go GIANTS! XOXOXOXOXO
P.S. Black Cats are the BEST!
I am glad my SPAM filter didn’t steal your comment. Go Giants ( being that the Red Sox aren’t in the World Series)!
We sure love those black kitties!!!
Thank you- I love my black kitties and all other colors too!
YAY! Happy Black Cat day 🙂 I am sure that here in the UK black cats are actually considered good luck!! I don’t hear anything to the contrary!! But perhaps they wouldn’t say it to my tuxie face MOL xx
I have heard in Europe, white cats are considered bad luck- is that true?
I’ve not heard that either!! Mum’s just googled it and it is said that in the UK SOME people consider white cats to be unlucky, but others don’t!! Go figure!!
Wow!! Samantha is Mostly Black with a bit of white tuffs here and there!
Your TX furiends,
Samantha & Mom
Happy Day to Samantha- mostly black counts 🙂
Here’s to all beautiful black cats! Black cats rule!
We are huge fans of black cats and have three of them here. They are really nice cats. And it is great to tell everyone how good black cats are so more will get adopted at the shelters. Too many people have something against black cats. Great post.
Thank you, I am happy to hear that you have 3.
No matter the color, every cat is beautiful and good luck for his owner ! Purrs
That is so true- anyone with a cat is lucky to have one- I am very, very lucky with 15.
The kitty before us was a black kitty named Panther so we love black kitties here too!
I am sure Panther was wonderful just like you.
My mum had 2 black cat brothers and a tuxie who were litter mates before me and Eric came to live here. She loves cats of all colours but has a soft spot for gingers. Black cats are considered lucky in the UK.
I have heard white cats are considered bad luck in the UK- is this true? Not the bad luck part, just people thinking it.
I think it is great black cats have a special day in their honor! I like black cats! And this coming from someone who is a big rodent fan of fancy rats, squirrels, chipmunks, and groundhogs!!!
Thank you so much for visiting the blog even though kitties kill the critters you enjoy. Black cats are great and so are all kinds. Millie and Spooky say hi.
Pawsum posty. Mommy is a trekky so hers got it and fawt da foto wuz adowable. 🙂 Da pins awe weally cute. And OMC weez didn’t know there wuz so many superstitions out there. MOL Mommy’s not at all. So glad yous not hav any ’bout da black panfurs. 🙂

Dezi and Lexi
I didn’t know your mom was a Trekky, wait til Christmas when I show my hubby’s special tree with all Star Trek ornaments. I am odd because I am superstitious yet I have a deep faith in God, I think I have a bit of OCD.
Black cats are considered to be GOOD luck in some parts of the world and, in EVERY part, they’re absolutely beautiful.
Purrs,
Nissy
They sure are beautiful everywhere!
Am considering adopting a little black kitten…am trying to figure out how to convince the hubby…our Chuck is black, and Sweetie the friendly feral is black…I don’t care about the color, I just wanna pet ’em!
Same here, I love all cats and have never seen one I didn’t want. Good luck with the hubby. If you bring the kitty in he will be mad at first, but get over it as soon as he hears it purr. Just be sure to test for FELV/FIV.
Yous knows what-Mes LOVES black cats! Ninja, my human brother’s cat is one – though mes does hiss at him when he teases me, and Mes is mostly white. Mommy says wes looks like yin and Yang!
Kisses
Nellie
OH mes likes your pumpkins!
You did a great job on those pumpkins- thank you Nellie!
Those pins are charming! And I so agree with the sentiment – black cats are GREAT luck!
Thank you Summer and all cats are great luck. We humans are lucky we get to share our lives with you.
My mom is not superstitious about anything so my being black didn’t even cross her mind when I chose her to adopt me. But she and dad didn’t mind that my sister Sammi had only 3 legs either. They really don’t care what we look like – it’s all about pursonality.
I had a kitty with 3 legs too, she lived to be quite old and wasn’t deterred at all by the loss of a leg.
Black cats are purrfect….what a cute prize!
Thank you 🙂
Love your Black Cat message and love your pumpkins!
Black cats and black dogs get a raw-deal in too many countries. :=o(
