Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. Please leave your link (at bottom of post) here or at my co-host’s Four-Legged Furballs. You can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate.

1. On New Year’s Eve, I __________________.

2. A goal that I have for 2019 is ________________.

3. If I had to choose a guide word for 2019, it would be _________.

4. New beginnings _________.

My answers:

  1. On New Year’s Eve, I go out for Chinese food with my hubby and another couple. We go early then go home for dessert, this year is our year to host dessert. Any ideas on what I can make?
  2. A goal that I have for 2019 is to get another children’s book published.
  3. If I had to choose a guide word for 2019, it would be FOCUS. I really need to work on this, I feel very scattered. I am always multitasking and not completely focused on one thing.
  4. New beginnings often come after a sad ending.
We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus.
And, this week we are joining, Pet Photo Fails which was started by Roby Sweet of The Cuddlywumps Chronicles Melissa and Miss Mudpie are going to continue this in her memory.
It took me a few shots to get Brody to look at the camera- this is one of the fails.

  1. Your New Year’s Eve tradition sounds like a lot of fun. Trifles are beautiful and delicious and can be very easy to put together.

Focus sounds like a great guide word, i have been scattered lately, too.

Brody looks good from any angle, i’m glad he did finally look at the camera, though.

  2. We don’t think that pic of Brody and Santa is a complete failure. It is actually rather sweet. It looks as if he has curled up and gone to sleep in Santa’a arms.

  3. I have read that the way our brain works is opposed to multi-tasking. Maybe if you made you a to do list and focused on one task at a time until you could mark that task off, it would help you accomplish more.

I say that, but I am the world’s worst at starting things and then jumping to something else. Have a Blessed New Year.

    1. I have a to do list every day, but I still can’t focus.
I hope you have a blessed New Year too!

  4. My Mom and Dad like your parents’ New Year’s Eve tradition – they might give that a try. Mom says ANY DESSERT is a “good dessert” and since you all will probably be FULL after dinner, something light like ice cream maybe? We think your #4 is VERY true!

    Hugs, teddy

    1. My book is fun for all ages- you could read it to the kitties 🙂 I hope you get your grandbaby though.

  5. Can you believe it’s almost time to greet a new year?!?

I’m looking forward to another of your books. Will it be another story of how one of your kitties came to live with you?

Hope 2019 is your best year, yet!

    1. This year flew by. Yes, it won’t be Christmas themed though. It is about Emmy. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy 2019! XO

  6. Brownies and vanilla ice cream. Yummy.

Staying focused is even harder when you get older.

Brody isn’t into all this posing stuff. Too cute.

Thanks for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect day and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥

  7. That sounds like a great New Year’s Eve! We haven’t found a Chinese restaurant that we like yet. True on your #4. I have no idea for a dessert. I am useless when it comes to picking out food choices for company. Another book would be wonderful!
    1. On New Year’s Eve, I fall asleep on the couch way before midnight.
    2. A goal that I have for 2019 is to make it to 2020 happy and healthy. Wish this for my family and friends, too.
    3. If I had to chose a guide word for 2019, it would be KINDNESS.
    4. New beginnings can take some adjusting to.

    1. Sorry you haven’t found a good Chinese restaurant, they are hard to find. Thank you for your fill-in answers, I enjoyed them. Kindness is a wonderful guide word. I hope you have a happy and HEALTHY new year! XO

  8. Ellen,

Chinese food for NY’s eve sounds good! I’m thinking anything chocolate is a great idea for dessert but then you’re asking the wrong person. 🙂 I hope you’re able to publish another children’s book this year, too. Focus is a great guide word. That’s something I can benefit from as well. I tend to put too many irons in the fire at one time and rarely taking care of them all. It’s true often times new beginnings follow a sad ending.

Here’s to a very wonderful 2019 to you and yours, dear friend. Thank you for sticking with me throughout the year and I shall look forward to our friendship’s continued growth in the coming new year! 🙂

  9. I almost used focus as my 2019 word. Instead I used organize but for similar reasons. For me, any kind of dessert is good.

    Happy New Year!

  10. Oh, best wishes for the New Year! I understand the failings of multi-tasking. Only at one workplace did that work for me. And don’t feel bad, Brody, I’m camera shy myself. Not much of a dessert person, I don’t have any suggestions. ~shakes head~ Happy New Year!

  11. Now I’m not sure who has got whom in your photo fail– or maybe they were each trying to snuggle into each other and escape MOL
    Lots of photo fail purrs
    ERin

  12. That doesn’t look like a fail to me! Chinese food is a great idea for NYE. I hope the peeps call out for it. We don’t have any good Chinese sit down places around here. TW used to eat at one in NYC with Aunt Pauline but it closed early this year.

  13. Santa looks much happier than Brody does but it’s a cute fail! Chinese is one of our mommy’s favorite types of food but she hasn’t had any in a long time. Maybe she will get some this weekend. I think the peeps are having homemade pizza for NYE here. We think your dessert should have whipped cream. Just sayin.

  14. Nice New Year’s tradition.

I have this cranberry dessert that is pretty and delicious. I have to find the recipe if you want to give it a try. Send me an e-mail. 🙂

Best of luck with your publishing of another book.

  15. I always enjoy reading your fill-ins! Your New Year’s Eve tradition sounds like such fun. We always have desserts at the ready on New Year’s Eve, and two of the most common ones in my family are cherry cheesecake and shortbread cookies. We also always have those Queen Anne dark chocolate covered cherries all stocked up for both Christmas and New Year’s Eve/Day. I cannot wait to read any and all books you write, this year and any year! And “focus” is such a perfect guide word. It could apply to so many things. Merry Fourth Day of Christmas!

  16. Oh, I am SO with you on #3!! That is one of my worst problems too. Though I do find if I just make a plan for the day, I can usually – mostly – stick to it. If I don’t have a plan, forget it!
Your New Year’s eve tradition sounds so nice! We don’t usually do much.

  17. Sounds like a lovely way to spend New Year’s eve! I think no matter what dessert you bring, it will be appreciated. I do lean toward cheesecake a little more 🙂

    Fun fill-ins, as always!

  18. A new children’s book in 2019 would be a great accomplishment!
And you are so right about #4. Often it’s the best option not to give up.
    Have a wonderful 2019!

  19. It looks like Brody preferred to cuddle.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas.
We were away for a few days, and where we were staying the internet was almost non existent so I wasn’t able to come around and comment until now.

  20. I think Brody was more interested in being comfy LOL

    I liked your fill-ins I like a nice Lemon Merangue 🙂

Have a Happy New Year & Best Wishes from London UK 🙂

  21. TBT replying…

    1. On New Year’s Eve, I burn some kindling, scrap wood and toast the New Year with a few glasses of wine quietly at home and call it a night.

    2. A goal that I have for 2019 is do more than in 2018 for house and yard.

    3. If I had to choose a guide word for 2019, it would be serene productivity.

    4. New beginnings are old beginnings improved by a year of experience.

    1. Thank you for these answers, I enjoyed them. You did a lot this year, it is good you re motivated to do more next year.
      Nice guide word. 🙂

  22. That sounds like a very nice way to spend New Year’s Eve. Mom says you can’t go wrong with apple pie and ice cream:)

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  23. Thanks for the fun fill-ins, Ellen and Lorianne. 🙂

    I vote for cheesecake!

I hope that you meet your publishing goal. I know you can do it. 🙂

Thanks for the fun fill-ins, Ellen and Lorianne. 🙂

    I vote for cheesecake!

I hope that you meet your publishing goal. I know you can do it. 🙂

Sometimes it can be so very difficult to stay focused. I have that problem, too. My thoughts are interupted by so many things these days. I hope that you will be able to find your focus and be able to get done what you want/need to do.

Your answer to #4 is a breath-taker. It is so very true! It is very much where I am at right now in regards to genealogy research. Here’s to no more sad endings for any of us!

I am so sorry to hear that Sarah (Roby Sweet) has passed away. She was so very young. 🙁

Have a blessed weekend and a very happy New Year!

    1. Can’t go wrong with cheesecake 🙂 Thank you, I am almost done with my next book then I will see if the same publisher is interested. I hope you have a blessed weekend and a happy new year too! XO

  24. Pawsome answers. The Female Human says two paws up for keto cheesecake. We wish you all a wonderful and blessed 2019!
