Three Hops in One

Hi everyone! We have three hops to join today. Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?, Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays and McGuffy’s Reader Sparks.

First off is Joanie’s weekly review.

Love with a Chance of Drowning by Torre DeRoche. I not drowning for anyone, I am glad my boyfriend, Simon is land lover like me.

Thank you Joanie. I actually loved this book. I am not sure why because I am not a fan of the ocean, I can’t even stand the smell. For some reason though this memoir pulled me right in. A 25 year old Australian girl spending a year in the USA meets a 30 year old man planning to embark on a journey around the world in his used yacht. When the time comes, they are still together and she joins him. It is quite an adventure with some humorous parts and some dangerous ones too.

I actually bought this at The Dollar Tree, the word memoir on the cover got me.Now that I have enjoyed it, I am going to give it away. If you want to be entered in the giveaway just say so in the comments. Books are heavy though so I can only afford to send it to someone in the USA, sorry.

My Spark for the week is: Kindness is free, sprinkle that stuff everywhere.I saw that quote on Pinterest with no author listed. Emmy made a little twist on it.

  1. WOW! That’s a whole lot of hopping but all the hops are great. We forgot about McGuffy’s “Sparks” hop but should join up. We can be pretty sparky around here too!

    Love, Teddy

    1. Thank you. I saw you did join up , great spark πŸ™‚ XO and love to you and your mom

  2. This sounds like a captivating read. How sweet of you to do a giveaway so that someone else can enjoy it now! And, my goodness, I completely let McGuffy’s Reader’s Sparks challenge slip my mind. I intend to start participating in these. I really like the quote you chose. Isn’t Pinterest such a wonderful place to find quotes? And Emmy’s twist on it is purrfect! Happy Monday!

  3. Ellen,

Kindness is free. You’d think in a world where everyone thinks they are entitled to everything that kindness would be freely given but instead kindness one is often greeted with rudeness. But, all it takes is a spark of kindness from one person to spread to another! Thanks for the encouragement to sparkle for others to see!

  4. Emmy is lovely, and i like the image of sprinkling kindness around as if out of your own invisible shaker!

  5. Joanie, so nice to see you with the weekly book review!
Kindness is a very good thing. Emmy you made me laugh!
    Good Morning!

  6. I love your Awww Mondays and your Sparks. Kindness is indeed free.

Have a purrfect Awww Monday. My best to your wonderful mom. ☺

  7. I like the spark. I don’t read memoirs but this one does sound gripping. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  8. I am not drawn by the ocean either. Pardon the pitiful pun but the ocean leaves me cold. xxxoo

  9. Make sure you send it Media mail! It’s a little slower but a whole lot cheaper! At least that’s what Mom says! Simon sends bunches of kisses ??to Joanie!!

  10. That sounds like a good book! Our mommy loves the ocean and finds it relaxing but from the shore and not so much from being actually on it. Thanks for the opportunity to win it! We love your spark too!

  11. What a hopping post. MOL We enjoyed it.
Yes I take cerenia 1/2 tablet a day and pepcid 1/2 tablet. Problem is I hate pills and I’m a monster to pill. The Vet checked at a compound pharmacy to see it is compounded which it is but it is in almond oil which is sweet and the cost is $250.00 a month. So we are sticking with the pill for daily use.
    Hugs madi your bfff

    1. Phoebe was a monster to pill too, I could not figure out how something so small could be so strong. Be a good girl Madi and take those pills. XO

  12. We love the picture ‘Kindness is free’ we believe it is and do kindness as much as we can.

We hope you are OK, we know you will be missing Phoebe, she was such a blog super star.

  13. I can’t say I ever heard anyone say that they didn’t like the smell of the ocean, but you got me thinking about it. My eyesight makes it troublesome to read normal books. I can do it with a glass.

  14. Mee-you Emmy yur berry creeative!!!! Lady Ellen mee just wanted to say ‘Mee-you’ to you an let you know mee finkss about you efurry day (xcept when mee was so out of it…) Now mee goess nappy an LadyMum an you can mee-yow ok?
    ~head rubsss~ Siddhartha Henry~

Hello Ellen I have to live near water or I’m a HUGE grouch! Now I’ve only seen lakes & not the ocean but I suspect I’d love it.
As for books I’m reading “Skin” by Mo Hayder. Mo is actually a female. The story takes place in Somerset, UK. It is very gripping & there is already a twist within the first 9 chapters!!! Can hardly wait to read more. It has not been easy to relax enough to read with a sick man cat to cater to. Siddhartha Henry is now eating kibble (not a lot but I’m happy he remembers he likes them). He drank water on his own this morning!!! And he wrestles when I try to treat his eye or pill him….all GREAT signs!
    (((hugs))) Sherri-Ellen

    1. Thank you for the update on Siddhartha, I am glad he is improving even if it is very slowly. That sounds like a good book. I am reading a mystery with a black cat in it, it is a series of 3. Thank you for writing Phoebe’s purrince, I think of you every day and pray for you too. XO and love to you both

      1. Hi Ellen: 6 Baytril doses done; 4 to go! P SH is more alert when he is awake & wants to play ( a good sign!) In fact, he is playing with ‘Blu Mousie’ the 1st mouse I ever bought him, lol. I love a good mystery!!! πŸ˜‰

Mee-you Lady Ellen Mee finkss about you an Purrincess efurry day all so. Mee wantss to ask you: Wood you bee mee Aunty? You are berry speshell to mee an mee wood bee honored to call you Aunty! Sinseerlee, Siddhartha Henry =^,.^=

  16. I love the ocean, but do not get there very much. i love to find seashells and etc. I would love to win the book as i love to read and hoarding up for winter. I pass the books on to my friend who is 85 and then they go to the church. So books here get much love.

  17. Spreading kindness like catnip…that’s a wonderful idea.
p.s. look into mailing the book media mail, it could be your cheapest option. But you’re not allowed to send other stuff media mail, just the book.

  18. I think the book sounds good. Glad you enjoyed it.
Must do Sparks next week. Forgot this week.

  19. We like your “spark.” We plan to join beginning next week. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
