Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop and Sammy’s Poetry Day.

I am thankful that my folks never get mad at me. Look at the paper I shredded and they just laugh and say I am an artist. .Sorry about the laser eyes, mom could use a photography class. I am also thankful that I will get to see my Grammie today.

And here is my poem based on this photo:

A little over a year ago,
can’t remember if there was snow.
Our friend, Sammy was ready to leave
his passing everyone would grieve.
Before he left, he took a ride
in a hot air balloon, riding inside.
We each showed him a special place
we chose Emily Dickinson’s birth place.
I know you already know it,
but Sammy was an excellent poet.
More than that , he was a friend to all
and when he left, we all did bawl.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two.

  1. Oh what a GREAT poem you wrote today! Sammy’s epic hot air balloon journey will probably be on several minds with that picture he chose for today’s poetry challenge. Thank you so much for writing about it – he loved visiting with you on his way to the Bridge!

    Hugs, Teddy

  2. Shredding sure can be fun! We took dear Sammy on a balloon ride around our neck of the woods too, we all miss him. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

  3. That is such a nice poem, for that wonderful Angel Sammy. We remember the balloon day. You all have a fantastic day.

  4. Of course your mom and dad aren’t going to get angry with you. What would be the point? Won’t change anything.

  7. No matter how long it is since we lost someone we love, it hurts. That’s a lovely tribute.

  8. We think it is so cool that many of us wrote about our dear friend, Sammy, today. We wonder if Mom Pam thought that would happen when she selected this photo? He was a great guy, and we miss him bunches. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
