Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. We are thankful for all the beautiful cards we have received by email and snail mail. Mom is setting up a slide show with them for Sunday. Thank you to all who have sent us cards, we are truly blessed with your friendship.

I am joining Sammy’s Poetry Day, this week we were asked to write a poem based on this photo:

On a dark desert highway , they got stuck
Someone gave them a ride in a truck
No one ever heard from them again
they had been businessmen
Rumor has it they stopped at a California hotel
and they disappeared after they heard a bell.

Dad always tells mom that our house is like the Hotel California for cats, whatever that is.

And here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two.

1. I can’t wait to see_________________________ open my gift to him/her.

2. I have had the same __________________ for _______________________.

3. I would not mind if Santa were to bring me                    .

4. On Christmas Eve, I always                     .

  1. Your house is the Hotel California for cats? Does that mean you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave? That’s not so bad, since your Mom is so awesome. 🙂

  2. Grrreat poem! And living at the Hotel California for Cats…my Mommy says she wishes she were a cat and could live there…

  3. Very eerie poem! A Hotel California for cats can be a great thing if the management is just right, and i know yours is. For people, not so much.

  4. BRAVO!!!! Purrrrhaps the owners of that car DID wind up at the Hotel California where people never leave…..one thing is for sure – that car certainly wasn’t going anywhere. Thanks for joining in our poetry day fun!

    Love, Teddy

  7. Mom still hasn’t gotten your cards in the mail. She was waiting for Mom Ellen to send all cat names in reply to an e-mail she sent a few weeks ago. She will mail without them, and we will e-mail to you as well. We’d love to be included in your slide show. That poem was perfect. As soon as Mom started reading it, it reminded her of the time she and Dad broke down in the middle of nowhere in Texas, and Dad hitched a ride with a trucker. He did not return for six hours with a tow truck. Mom was in a state of absolute panic. Had their two little dogs with her. 4. On Christmas Eve, I always think of Christmas itself and all it means.

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I wonder what you got your son? I hope Santa brings you a new area rug. XO
