Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am beyond thankful that my great-nieces finally have the quilts I had made for them with my sister’s clothes. It took a little over 3 years. An older friend of the family did most of them, but was having trouble with her hands so I had to find another seamstress to finish them.

Each one has 12 hearts made with parts of my sister’s clothes. I had them pick out the ones they wanted, but sadly, they don’t remember picking them.

I didn’t forget The Boy. He was not born until after she passed, but I had a teddy bear made for him out of one of her shirts.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

1. My favorite kind of pie is _________________.
2. I will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by __________________.
3. I was correct when I predicted that _________.
4. I didn’t see _________ coming.

  1. You have to be the most creative and thoughtful auntie on EARTH!!! Magical quilts…tell them that they will have amazing dreams under those lovely covers…

  2. You really put some extra thought into these gifts for the girls and the boy. The girls may not remember picking out the material, but they’ll never forget their grandmother and the love that she now wraps around them.

  3. What a lovely thing to do. The quilts and teddy bear are beautiful, and the kids will treasure them forever.

  4. I love these quilts for the girls- and the Teddy for the Boy. I’m glad they are finished and that they are in doing hands. I’d love to show you some things like that that Mom here has. Wish we lived nearby. 🙂

    1. Thank you. 🙂 Maybe you could send photos. I wish we lived near each other too. XO

  5. 1. My favorite kind of pie is cherry. (lemon next!!)
    2. I will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by doing nothing expected.
    3. I was correct when I predicted many babies’ sex before they were born.
    4. I didn’t see the changes to the body coming as we get older. I thought I would always be young. Time always seems to pass so slowly when you are young- that you are unaware of life changing and seeming faster as we go along.

  6. ELLEN I AM OVER THE MOON HAPPY SEEING THE FINISHED QUILTS FOR TGO AND TM OUT OF THEIR GRANDMOTHER’S CLOTHES…..WELL DONE TO YOU AND YOUR FRIEND. THE SMILES ON THEIR FACES SPEAK VOLUMES. THE QUILTS WILL BE TREASURES

  8. Such a poignant gift to remember their mum. Bless you for having those beautiful quilts made. Such a special remembrance that can last a lifetime for each of the girls and an adorable teddy bear for The Boy too. 💙💞

  9. Whether the girls remember picking the fabrics or not, they will always cherish this wonderful gift you had made for them. And the bear is totally adorable. 10. Charlee: “Those are beautiful quilts and The Boy’s bear is so cute!”
Chaplin: “If he is anything like our Dada, he’ll still have that bear in 50 years. Dada’s bear that his Nana made clothes for sitting on the shelf in the corner of his office right now.”
