Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone. We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

Brody and Penny are thankful to be back from the vets. Penny got another antibiotic shot and a steroid one too. Brody was unable to have his dental because his potassium was low. He is on a supplement for it, but I stopped it 2 days ago with his meds. The vet had told me to stop the meds so I assumed that meant the potassium too.  He was only a tenth of a point lower than average. I got the feeling this vet was too afraid to do the dental with his heart issues which is fine. I would rather be safe than sorry. He may have to have it done with a specialist.

I am thankful to share my home with 3 feral cats. I can’t touch them, but they hang out in the living room with us all the time. And they interact with us with the laser toys and string toys too.

Bridget is Tuffy’s mom and Ethel’s sister.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

3. I’m _________ away from _________.
4. _________ is the scariest experience I’ve ever had in my own home.

  1. Glad that Penny got her shots okay. And that will likely turn out to be best for Brody too. It’s impressive that you got those feral cats inside at all! We have one who is just determined not to come in. She stays in the secluded yard so it works out okay. (She’s been TNRed) Good to have the reminder, I’d forgotten the feral day! XO

    1. Thank you. 🙂 I just trapped them and after they got fixed I released them into my home. 🙂 That was 4 years ago now. XO

  2. Oh, Brody, we hope so much you can have clean toothies. And so happy for Penny’s help from your good vet. Your fill-ins are so much FUN!! Every week. Merci to you and Lorianne.

  3. I adopted a feral kitten years ago called Lucy. She was in a terrible state and hid behind everything. It was a long time before she would let me pat her and even then would only tolerate a certain amount before her sharp claws came out. I hope your kitties will eventually become more friendly.

  4. I am glad the vet visit went well even though Brody didn’t get his dental. I also suffer with low potassium and have to take a supplement in pill form every day for life. It may be worth checking how long Brody needs to take it.
Lovely to see Bridget, Tuffy and Ethel. Even though they don’t let you touch them, they know they are loved and well cared for.

  5. Bless you for taking on some ferals as well as your own “full house of cats” !! Teddy was a feral before being trapped and taken to the shelter – at least that’s what one person told us there…..anyway, life is tough for ferals and they need all the help they can get. We hope Brody and Penny will be OK!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

  6. Prayers for Penny and Brody. 😺 Happy National Feral Cat Day, and all of your kitties are lucky to have a mom like you.

  7. Be sweeties may have the feral streak running through their blood stream, that is easy to see they enjoy the good life. Sorry to hear Penny needs antibiotics still. And precious sends her nose box and purrs to heartthrob Brody. Hope he has no serious issue without the dental cleaning.

  8. I love seeing who is related to who and seeing them together. I’m with the Vet of you’re right nd I think you are. Brody needs to see a specialist for his procedure. No chances taken. XXX.

  9. Some good vet news and some maybe not so good. Poor Brody. After fasting (probably) and getting caged, he has to do it again. Kudos to you for accepting the ferals on their own terms. Many hugs to everyone at your home, two-legged and four-legged, furry and not furry.

  10. Hope the shots help Penny. Too bad Brody couldn’t have his dental. Do you have a vet dental specialist near you? That’s who I had do Ernie’s dental and she was wonderful. Better equipped to handle senior and/or cats with health issues.

  11. Bless you for taking in some feral kitties. It’s usually a short life for cats on the street so kudos for helping your trio out. Sorry the dental didn’t work out but it sounds like it’s for the best. We hope the shots help sweet Penny out.

  12. Sounds like the vets are doing their best for your kitties.
    Happy Feral Cat Day!
Here, am not yet ready to remove the ‘formerly’ feral from Henry’s title, yet he’s come a long way.

  13. It’s so nice that you took in three ferals and that everyone is happy together.

I’m glad Penny and Brody are home from the vet. I hope the antibiotic works for Penny. It’s good that the vet is cautious with Brody. I hope they are both doing well.

  14. Yes, better safe than sorry. I always feel like things like what happened with Brody’s potassium is a gift that saves or helps us. A specialist would be a good thing I think. I am happy Penny is doing well with her shots and I am happy the feral cats are part of the Meowing Crew and are with you. They have a safe and caring home forever. I am thankful to you for taking them in. They look very at home in your photos♥

  15. Bridget an Ethel an Tuffy are so lovelee….wee wish wee cuud get Luna to com innside. Shee won’t. **sighss**

  16. I do hope Brody can have his dental soon, a sore mouth is awful to live with, and may he and Penny both feel better soon.

Your feral cats are beautiful, I hope maybe someday they will allow some closer interaction.

  17. I’m glad the ferals have a good home. Poor Brody, I hope the dental can be done eventually.

  18. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. You’re very lucky to be able to have your feral babies in the house even though you can’t touch them.

  19. Charlee: “We’re glad everyone is back from the vet and we agree, better safe than sorry on Brody’s dentals!”
Chaplin: “Thank you for giving our feral cousins a home! We know they appreciate it even if they won’t let you touch them. Maybe someday!”

  20. The ferals were so lucky that they found you and we’re sure that one day, they will sit on your lap as it is as normal as effurr😺💗We’re glad that the vet didn’t operate the toothie yet and hope that Brody’s heart condition will get better soon🙏Healing Pawkisses for Brody and Penny and for all of you Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend too🐾😽💞
