Hi everyone! I am ashamed to admit that I forgot yesterday was Rainbow Bridge Memorial Day. I will be doing a post for it on Saturday. I think it is good to remember those that are no longer with us that left pawprints on our hearts.
We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Joanie is thankful that The Great One came to visit her again.
We also celebrated her cat, Nixon’s 13th birthday ( at her house). Nixon* lived with us for the first 5 years of his life.
My niece got him freshman year in college, but couldn’t keep him in the dorm so he lived here. And she lived here too and commuted to school after her first year of college. *Nixon was named after the Red Sox player, Trot Nixon, not the former president 🙂
And here is my poem based on Sammy’s Poetry Day.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.
Beautiful babies to be thankful for! 😀
Thank you 🙂
Nixon is a handsome kitty!
Thank you 🙂
How cool that Nixon lived at your place while his purrson went to school 🙂
We also worry if that little girl has any time left over to just be a little girl.
Purrs,Georgia,Julie and JJ
Thank you 🙂 XO
Nixon is absolutely gorgeous! Looks like a “big boy”……….I’m glad he had a nice birthday celebration for lucky 13. My Mom didn’t like having to practice her piano lessons either but did enjoy playing (especially when it wasn’t a recital!).
Hugs, Teddy
Thank you 🙂 She is lucky she can play piano. I wish I could. XO
I can identify with the ‘practice’ drama. I took accordion as a child.
My friends come ask if I could play with them Mama always said she has to practice her music first. YIKES!!
Hugs Cecilia
That must have been awful. XO
Nixon is very handsome. Happy belated birthday to him.

Thank you 🙂
Awww, Happy Birthday Nixon! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Thank you 🙂
Happy Birthday, Nixon! What a beauty he is.
Sometimes, I wonder if my mother had been more of a tiger mom, would I be where I am today? The only thing my parents insisted on, is college, which I paid for myself. They also made us all learn an instrument, but I never got the hang of reading music. One other thing; they wouldn’t allow any of us (six kids) to obtain a driver’s license until we were 17 years old, instead of 16 which was the law in Michigan. Guess they figured that extra year would toughen our resolve?
Thank you 🙂 He is a sweet kitty. I think you are perfect just as you are. XO

Nixon is a handsome mancat. I’m glad you had a birthday party for him.
Love the poem. I’m sorry for kids that can’t be kids either.
I’m all ready for the fill-ins.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥
Thank you 🙂 I look forward to your answers. XO
Happy birthday to Nixon who is definitely not a crook.
Thank you 🙂
I wasn’t aware of the pet memorial day before this year! Hope you and yours are well. Great photos and cute poetry, as always.
It is a nice way to remember our angels. Thank you. XO
Nixon is in the prime of her life, says this 16-year old feline!

Thank you 🙂 XO
Awww, so nice to meet Nixon!
Thank you 🙂
Happy Birthday to Nixon! He is nice to share the Great One with Joanie! 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Well, thank cod that boy was named for a Red Sox player because we were thinking, “What on earth could he have done to deserve *that*?” 😉
We think kids should be kids and cats cats. (Piano lessons were forced on our mom until the teacher finally informed her mom that he felt like a robber, taking money for lessons she couldn’t ever quite learn!)
That is why I felt the need to explain 🙂
Happy Birthday to Nixon!
Thank you 🙂
Oh Joanie, you’re so adorable!
Thank you. 🙂
Joanie, you are such a patient kitty! And a wonderful companion for the Great One!
Your poem made petcretary remember the days when our boys took piano lessons. The elder one actually loved it, and he went on through all the available levels and got awards, too…Then he progressed to organ. However now he refuses to play either one…oh well…we think he just got tired of it and burned out…or it was a way to have a rebellion to us, in a passive way…who knows!
Joanie is a sweetie. Too bad he didn’t want to continue playing, it sounds like he was talented.
I’m sorry I’ve fallen so behind on visiting and commenting! Joanie, I always love seeing what style The Great One picks for you. You appear to be Snow White here, unless I’m totally off. No matter what, you’re adorable! We hope Nixon had a purrfect birthday! And your poem is wonderful. I also feel bad for children who are forced into perfecting talents such playing an instrument. I was lucky in that my parents didn’t force me to learn or participate in anything I didn’t want to. I did take piano lessons for a couple of years, but when it was no longer fun for me, I quit and my parents were more than fine with that. Purrs to all of you!
NO worries on commenting, everyone gets busy. Yes, Joanie is Snow White. XO
