Hi everyone! Did you know there are some pennies out there worth up to $200,000. Not me, I am worth way more than that.
In 1943 there was a copper shortage so pennies were made out of steel, but about 40 were made of copper and some are still in circulation. In January one sold for $204,000 at an auction. To read more, click here.
Let me help you Penny. We sure could buy a lot of treats with that kind of money.
Millie is giving a sneak preview of our upcoming Chewy review.
I have a few medical updates. Millie could use some prayers. Last Tuesday, I felt a small lump on his side so we took him to the vet on Wednesday. The vet did a needle aspiration and it is a mast cell tumor. Apparently in cats, they don’t tend to spread. Joanie had one removed from her face a few years ago and Angel Lucy had a toe removed when she had one. Ideally, we would just get it removed to be on the safe side. Nothing is ideal though, Millie has a heart murmur and is almost 15. He has also lost weight despite the fact that his thyroid is under control with meds. He will need an ultrasound to check his heart before any surgery, he also needs an ultrasound on his tummy to be sure he doesn’t have a cancer.
KaTwo’s lumps are a little bigger. Fortunately, her appetite is still good and she is still playful and enjoying life.
Sammy is also scaring me. He has a bump on his nose. I have been watching for about 10 days and it is still there. I think it is a little smaller, but I am not sure if that is wishful thinking. I will be making an appointment for him soon.
Today Prancie has a recheck on some of her blood work and Emmy is getting her annual blood tests. Seems like we are always at the vet.
Hi everyone! Poor Penny got her post bumped again. Millie wants to tell you about his Basepaw results. Almost a year ago, we won a kit on the blog, Pets Overload. I chose Millie to test because I was certain he had some Siamese in him. He is quite vocal which is one of their traits.
*Disclaimer: I won a Basepaws kit. I am not required to write a review. All opinions are my own.
He was shocked with the results.
This is what they wrote:
Now let’s talk about Millie! We sequenced Millie’s DNA, which we extracted from the sample you’ve submitted to us. This resulted in 19,183,303 DNA fragments sequenced, which represents 2,472,946,222 DNA bases that were sequenced. Using this data along with the latest cat genome (felis_catus_9.0), we analyzed genetic variants across 18 chromosomes to generate this report.
We assigned Millie to the Western breed group based on the comparative genomic similarity to breeds belonging to the Western group. Within the Western breed group, we ranked the individual member breeds based on how similar your cat is to each breed.
Millie is most related to a Maine Coon. I know nothing about genetics, but I am not convinced. I think Basepaws is a good idea, but needs some work. It took around 10 months to get our results which seems like a long time. I am glad I won a kit, but honestly, I would expect more if I had paid the $95. I checked the website and an Alpha kit will be available soon ( I assume it will cost more money), but it will include health information which could be useful.
Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.I am thankful that many loved ones joined us Christmas Eve. I am also thankful that I got to spend Christmas Day with my mom and hubby -and kitties.
My kitties have lots of thankfuls today. Millie is thankful to the manly collar his friend Valentine sent him. It even has a bell.
Valentine also sent these yummy treats .
Our friends, Purrseidon and Katsu sent us this giant bag of toys which also included a tunnel. It arrived several weeks ago, but I was mean and made them wait.
And Four-Legged Furballs recently had a giveaway that we won. A beautiful blanket for me and a mini version for the kitties, although I the cats seem to think both are theirs. Lorianne also added in this giant container of Temptations and a stocking filled with toys. And one of her adorable bookmark creations.
