Penny’s Tips Volume 158

Hi everyone! Pardon my laser eyes, my photographer is horrible.

My money saving tip for you this month is about glasses. You know how pricey glasses are when you get them through the optometrist?

Well, next time you get your eyes examined, make sure you ask for the prescription. Make sure they measure your pupil distance for you- you can do it at home, but it is a pain. There are several websites you can buy prescription glasses on at bargain prices. Mom just ordered Dad some from Payne glasses and they were about $20 for frames, prescription lenses and shipping. To visit, click here.

Zeelool has some cool frames and similar pricing. Click here.

And one more, Zenni Optical has good deals too. Click here.

Please let me know if I missed any other places with good deals on glasses.

Time for a nap. See you next month. And if there is something you want me to research for you to get a good deal on, just let me know.

  1. I hope his glasses will be great!
Yes they are expensive…but I still get mine there, because if something isn’t right they’ll get it fixed right away..and no further costs. Plus they are guaranteed…and we have good insurance, which gives us a great price on the frames. So we still save hundreds!

And since we both have complicated eye issues, its good to see the doc anyways…hubby has to see a specialist as well.
I do still carry the scripts though…cause if you’re traveling and your frame or lenses break, you can get the new ones quickly at some places.

  2. Incredible prices. But mama sees double and has to have prism glasses, which are a bit different and not easy to make. Merci for the info, Penny.

  3. Penny, I wear eyeglasses and I often think they’re ripping me off when I go to the optometrist and get new glasses. I’ve often wondered about doing them over the internet but I’ve been afraid to. I’ll check these websites out and I think your mommy for sharing it. She’ll have to let us know how your daddy’s glasses turn out

  4. Good morning Penny and while you said that about your photographer, I, and Mom too, had loud laughing going on. Probably not what you wanted at your complaint. MOm goes to Walmart. And by the way, you sure did point out a necessity about pupil distancing!!

  5. I was thinking of trying that but I have progressive lenses and I think they have to measure my eyes for that. If you mom know anything about that, I’m all ears!

  6. What a great price on the glasses. Let us know how they are. We go for our eye appointments tomorrow. What a great tip.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to you. ♥

    1. My hubby is pleased with the ones I ordered for him. I still need to get mine, but there are so many choices that I can’t pick one yet. XO

  9. Thanks for the tip, Penny. Our Dad got good prices for his sunglasses at Costco, but for his regular glasses, he has to use a local one that really knows their business because he has such a complex prescription. Since her cataract surgery, Mom doesn’t need any glasses right now, but may need some down the road.

We think your photo is lovely and we don’t mind the laser eyes at all.

  10. Dearest Ellen,
Precious photos and especially the last one is so sweet!
IF needed just regular correction glasses this is a most valuable tip indeed.
For my Pieter’s glasses we paid $ 500 and for two frames… But he had one very complicated eye.
Most things in health care are a rip off…

  12. Chaplin: “This is good advice. It costs a lot for the humans to be able to see sometimes.”
Oona: “Oona’s Mama and Dada get their glasses from someplace called Costco, which Oona has heard is a vast open space with many tall shelves. Oona would love to visit it and climb around on everything.”
Charlee: “Our Dada says aside from the prescriptions and glasses, he will not shop at Costco, because it is a madhouse. So, yeah, you would fit right in there, Oona.”

  13. Hello, Penny! I am a day late but here 🙂 It’s a good tip you have here about the online glasses. I am about to get new glasses but I have to get them from the peeps that did my cataracts this first time. They will replace my lenses free in case my vision changes for up to one year. But the online thing would work after that. I am glad it works great for your Mom and Dad.

  14. Pawsome tips on the eyewear. When my son worked as an optician, I always got the ‘friends and family’ discount and some amazing deals that his vendors would gift him for all his sales efforts. I once got a pair of high end frames for $20. Then he had to go and leave the industry. Sigh. 😉
