Penny’s Tips Volume 157

Hi everyone! Did you miss me? I usually write the first week of the month, but Rosie has already gone into hiding in anticipation of The Great One and Typhoid Mary’s arrival for a sleepover.

I made a quick $15 bucks last week. Dad gave Mom a lottery ticket on her birthday so she asked me if she could borrow one of my coins. I have a box with lots of coins in it because the girls take all my dad’s change off the counter and pay to pet me. I like those girls; I don’t know why Rosie doesn’t. Anyhow, she said, “If I win, I’ll split it with you.” And she won $30 so half is mine.

I have a tip for you to get some free ebooks. The website, The Fussy Librarian, lets you choose which genres you like and they will send you a daily email letting you know which books are available for free that day. To visit, click here.ย

I also have some back to school bargains to tell you about. Even if you don’t have someone in school, you may want to stock up on notebooks and crayons. Staples has a lot of bargains right now like 70 sheet notebooks for 35 cents and composition books for 50 cents. They even have them in a lot of cool colors like pink and purple. And they have Crayola colored pencils for 99 cents.

Walmart has a lot of great deal too like a box of 24 Crayola crayons for only 50 cents. And they have the 70 sheet notebooks for 45 cents. Don’t you just love a bargain?

See you next month.

  1. So, it’s you who is the lucky Penny! It seems your luck just got a whole lot better. You go girl! I’m sure you have a great future ahead of you.

  2. Wow, good bargains, Penny! I loved getting notebooks and crayons as a kid and kept on using color pencils for drawings and mixed media as an adult. Back to school this time of year still feels strange though, it used to be in September! XO

    1. Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes, it is in September, but never too early to stock up. XO

  3. When I was growing up, each summer my dad would give us kids a huge note pad, crayons and colored pencils. I think he wanted to make us of our artistic talent, LOL!!! I still draw stick figures….
I will be going to Walmart later this week….thanks for letting us know about those great bargains, Penny, and congrats on lining your wallet so well!!

  4. I love money saving tips and I actually love crayons. Too bad in our town Staples went out of business. We are left with only the great and fantastic Walmart. Don’t spend all your $15 in one place

  5. Penny! You are such a good help! I will cut and paste what you told us and send it to my human brother who is a teacher! I will make Mom get some for her grandson, my Client, too. And you have quite a flourishing business there Penny with your Pay to Pet going on! HooRAH! How much do you charge? I will look into doing the same. Mom keeps loose change on the washer next to the door she always comes into the house at.

  6. Wow, Penny! You are one smart kitty getting $15, and thanks for the tips on those great bargains. I can’t believe it is back-to-school time so soon.

  7. Cool win! I’m holding off for a big lottery win. That would be so awesome! I loved brand new crayons as a kid and still do!! Well…I like seeing the pretty colors. Crayons don’t feel color right in my opinion. Schools will be starting up really soon. Our granddaughter enters kindergarten this year. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Thatโ€™s great that your Mom shared her winnings. Those are good tips, thanks Penny!

  9. I’ve not done any lottery in decades. I’m glad you won. Way to go.
