It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly blog hop co-hosted by Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Texts which focuses on sharing books marketed for children and young adults.

*Disclosure- I was given a free kindle copy of Zombies Don’t Eat Catnip by Tiffani Burkett in exchange for a fair review. All opinions are my own.

In general, I avoid movies and television shows with zombies, but when offered a copy of this book, I decided to give it a chance and I am glad that I did.  The book is a quick read at only 52 pages on Kindle, but it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed reading Clutch the calico’s diary of zombies attacking her family which consists of her big human, Greg and his 6 year old daughter Ella.

The book is really not scary despite the zombies. I would recommend it for ages 9 and up, including adults that like cats. Plus it has a happy ending and I love a happy ending.

You can get a paperback for $9.99 on Amazon and the Kindle for $3.99. If interested, click here.

And Joanie hope she is aww…worthy. She is preparing for yet another play date with The Great One. We are expanding our services of first aid and surgery to include optical exams.  We are holding off on playing restaurant for a while. The Great One did a fine job as hostess then changed to her waitress uniform and took my mom and Typhoid Mary’s orders. After she delivered their food, I put out our food and she says, “why do we have to eat with them?”  🙂

  1. Well I just finished a book/novel by Sheila Stoval called EVERY WINDOW FILLED WITH LIGHT & will possibly start STEALING TIME by KJ Waters.
Hope you enjoy your books as much as we did ours.

  2. Cute photo Joanie. Have fun with The Great One. The books sounds good. I like happy endings too.

  3. Joanie, you are wonderful and i’ll bet you will make a great eye doctor assistant.

Don’t kids always come up with the best lines!

  4. Joanie is most awww worthy. Looks like your next play date is going to be most fun. I can’t wait to hear about it.

    My current read:
    Fallen by Linda Castillo

    A dark and deadly path

When a young woman is found murdered in a Painters Mill motel, Chief of Police Kate Burkholder is shocked to discover she once knew the victim. Rachael Schwartz was a charming but troubled Amish girl who left the fold years ago and fled Painters Mill. Why was she back in town? And who would kill her so brutally?

As the case heats to a fever pitch and long-buried secrets resurface, a killer haunts Painters Mill. Someone doesn’t want Rachael’s past—or the mysteries she took with her to the grave—coming to light. As Kate digs deeper, violence strikes again, this time hitting close to home. Will Kate uncover the truth and bring a murderer to justice? Or will a killer bent on protecting a terrible past stop her once and for all?

    1. Thank you. 🙂 A good time was had by all and it was discovered Gremmie needs glasses. That does sound intense. XO

  6. I’ve never read a book with both zombies and cats, very unique! Joanie the eye exam idea is brilliant, I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun.

    1. This is the first zombie book I have ever read and I wouldn’t have without the cats. 🙂

  7. Welcome to #IMWAYR! Zombies Don’t Eat Catnip sounds like a super-fun story, and I appreciate you recommending it! And I enjoyed hearing about y’all’s adventures playing restaurant! Thanks for sharing!

  8. This book sounds like so much fun. I admittedly am a fan of zombies, as well as kitties, calicoes definitely included, and so I’m going to have to give this a read. Joanie, you better believe you’re aww worthy! It sounds like you and The Great One are going to have a lot of fun. Purrs!

  9. Joanie…I love your medical exams and when you operate! I love the “school” you attended with all the insides you could operate on. YOu’ve got experience and now…you can work on EYES! AND run a restaurant! You and The Great One have a great well paying couple of professions going.

  10. I sadly don’t seem to have time to read anymore. At least not as long as Teddy wants to spend so much time outside anyway! He has to be escorted and that’s ME or David! Anyway, zombies aren’t my favorite thing either but I will admit when I wake up early in the morning I feel like a zombie!

    Hugs, Pam

  11. Thanks for the book review!
Recently finished a series, that included zombies, demons, ghosts, exorcists, and a ton of humor and silliness!
Now, I’m into a series that takes place on The Shetland Islands, and I love the narrator’s Scottish brogue.

  12. I am in between books currently. Just finished a good mystery that took place in Australia…I’m going through my BLOCKS (quilting magazine) for some new ideas
    Hugs Cecilia
