Hopping Monday

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays, McGuffy’s Reader’s Sparks and Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

My Spark is a quote from Louise Hay: “Remember, you have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.” I think I will give it a try and I hope you all do too.

About a month ago, I told you about a memoir I read by Joyce Maynard titled The Best of Us. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to read another memoir of hers published 20 years ago. At Home in the World was also a great book. When the author was only 19 years old, she had a one year affair with JD Salinger. After reading this, it is clear the Salinger was an egotistical—— ( words I can’t write on my blog). This only covers a small part of her memoir, but I found the entire book interesting.

Joanie hasn’t shown her tummy in quite a while so she thought you may all want to see it.

Penny will be back with one of her tips tomorrow.

  1. Ellen,

We’re always the most critical of ourselves, aren’t we? I think even when we improve we still critize. Can we ever be good enough to not see the flaws? Love the ‘SPARKS’, though. All we can do is keeping trying. 🙂 Have a sparkletastic day!! Come join me on the dance floor when you get a chance!

    1. Thank you. Sorry I didn’t do the mewsic hop today, but I enjoyed your choices.

  2. Well it’s about time Joanie shared her tummy with us – it’s been AGES! We love your SPARK today too…..we are all pretty good at criticizing ourselves but not so good at approving of what we do/think.

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too!

  3. I love that quote from Louise Hay! We should all give it a try.

Kitty tummies are the best. And so soft, too!

  4. What a great spark. So true. Joanne, we sure like seeing your tummy. You all have a most wonderful day.

  5. That Spark is right up my alley this morning. We are too hard on ourselves. I am going to give it a try! Joanie’s tummy is wanting to be snorgled but I am afraid she might not like that much… 🙂 Good Morning 15andmeowing!

    1. Glad you liked the spark. Joanie loves to have her tummy snorgled, I do that almost every day. XO

  6. This is a wonderful Spark. Some people really are too hard on themselves. Approving of yourself sounds like the perfect plan. Thank you for sharing this with us! Oh, and Joanie, that is one adorable tummy!

  7. Great spark! I don’t read memoirs but am glad that you enjoy them.Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  8. That is a very good Spark that lots more peeps should pay attention to.

Mom says she always loves a recommendation for some good books. She will have to check these out.

  11. Louise Hay has a very good point! Now if only we would! Yes some of those gifted writers etc were *** find myself unable to write what is in my head!! All the best for your reading this week.

  12. Penny that is one adorable belly, and it is scout how you have your back toes spread apart. That was a really great Spark your mom selected. I think we all do that to ourselves and it is so self-defeating. XOXO, Janet

  13. That sounds like an interesting book. JD Salinger lived in our area….well, hid out here, I guess! My friend lives in the town he died in, and actually knows his widow. No one really seems to know too much about him around here.

Do you allow tummy rubs, Joanie? 🙂

  14. Joanie, our mom would be all over that belleh!

P.S. Once (probably about 16 years ago), our mom ordered some things from Louise’s website. She realized she’d made a mistake on the order so she called Hay House to correct it. Imagine her surprise when Louise answered the phone! 🙂

    1. That is a cool story. Sadly, Louise passed away last year. Joanie loves her tummy touched. XO

  15. That’s a wise spark from a wise woman. She was one of Granny’s gurus since the beginning 🙂 Now, let me rub that tummy before I go on 😀 Pawkisses for a wonderful day 🙂 <3
