Hi everyone! Today we are joining It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? The kiddy lit version hosted by Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers.
*Disclosure: I received this book for free as part of The Book Look Bloggers book review program. I am not required to write a positive review, all opinions are my own.
I was a little reluctant to read Go to Sleep Sheep to my great-niece because her parents are having trouble getting her to go to sleep. I thought this was going to give her ideas to extend her time awake like needing a snack and wanting to play. So far, it has not caused a problem and she enjoyed the story.
Go to Sleep Sheep by Thomas Nelson and Illustrated by Sydney Hanson is an adorable board book with the cutest illustrations. I like how it introduces thankfulness and prayer to young children. The sheep bow their heads and say their prayers, ” God, thank You for this day! ”
This book is for young children, ages 2-5. It just touches on being thankful and saying a prayer. Hopefully, it will get children asking about these things and wanting to learn more. One is never too young to be thankful.
It makes a great bedtime story for kids and kitties.

You’re right – it sounds like it’s a “gentle lesson” in thankfulness…….perfect for little ones!
Hugs, Teddy
Thank you. XO
I think that would be a great Christmas gift for our great-niece. Books are great gifts for littles in the family!
I forgot our great-nephew in Arizona… he needs a book, too!
OhMyGosh, I am going to write a book here in your comments. I still love The Velveteen Rabbit and Pooh.
Those are good books, except I find The Velveteen Rabbit too sad. XO

This sounds like such a wonderful book to read to little children. I adore the message it portrays. I don’t have children of my own, but all throughout high school and college I worked as a baby-sitter. One of the little girls I babysit regularly was not a good sleeper. Sometimes reading books to her would help, and I wish she had had books like this in her little library. Thank you for sharing this with us!
I bet you were a fun baby sitter.
I agree that one is never to young to be thankful. Kids need to be taught about all the wonderful things around them to be thankful for.
Have a fabulous day. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥
Thank you. I hope you had a good day too. XO
My eyes are getting very heavy
Hugs madi your bfff

My Mom read to me, I read to my daughter , and my daughter reads to her daughter. We daughters all parlayed being read to into becoming strong readers ourselves. There is no substitute!
That is wonderful. We are all readers too.
Nice! Be well, my dears.
Thank you.
I tend to grab up every “good night” book I can for my children. My older four are now old enough to calm down and go to sleep, but my 4 year old still sometimes struggles. This one sounds like a keeper. Thanks for sharing!
