Friendly Fill-Ins Week 486

Time for the fill-ins. I came up with the first two sentences and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two. If you didn’t do a post for them, you can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you. The link is open until Wednesday night.

1. _______________________ was the best advice I ever received.
2. __________________________ was the worst advice I ever received.

3. If I knew how to _________, I would _________.

4. I thought _________, but it turned out _________.
My answers:
1. Stop waiting for someone else and give a blind date a chance was the best advice I ever received.
2. Don’t change horses in the midstream was the worst advice I ever received. When I was in college, I knew teaching wasn’t for me, but I got my degree in it anyway. The advice should be don’t change horses in the midstream unless your horse is dead.

3. If I knew how to make candy apples (the red kind, not caramel), I would make some. I am afraid to use a candy thermometer though.

4. I thought blogging would be a good way to make money, but it turned out no money, but even better, priceless friendships.
We are joining Feline Friday now hosted by Messymimi.
My flashback is from September 2016, Angel Joanie was dressed for Meow Like a Pirate Day. I know that is today but I didn’t have a chance to take new photos so our selfies with pirate themed on Sunday.

  1. Capt’n Joanie the Pirate Queen sure looked great in her costume BUT she looks less than happy to be wearing it! Tee Hee. Good fill-ins today – I am SURE your nieces and nephew have reaped a lot of benefits from your teaching degree – you are THE BEST!!!!

    Hugs, Pam and Captain Ted

  2. Angel Joanie is purrfect for today’s photo and always. Education is great tool and I used
to wish I had gone to college, (my father thought it was an evil place for girls). But I did more
than OK with decent paying jobs. No career just good old work. Nice that you changed when
you did. And I’m so glad to have met you here, even if it is not a money maker.

    1. Thank you. 🙂 I am sure you made a lot more money than I ever did with a degree. I am glad to have met you too. XO

  3. Angel Joanie is adorable! Truly! I love that outfit!!! And the dead horse answer…THAT ought to her a meme. That was perfect! Best ever.

  4. Angel Joanie looks adorable in her pirate’s outfit. When I graduated from college, my first real job was in Insurance, and I remained in the industry until I retired. I never thought of my blog as a way to make money, and I agree the friendships are priceless.

  5. Angel Joanie… the sweetest♥
LOL on #2, Ellen. Your advice is true! I should have never went to college. But if I hadn’t gone, I would not have met SSNS.
    My Fill-Ins~
    1. “Get yourself a horse” was the best advice I ever received.
    2. “Go on a cruise, you will love it” was the worst advice I ever received.
    3. If I knew how to knit, I would find it very relaxing. If I could just get cast on I would knit a mile long scarf. I had a friend who helped me get started and then I didn’t stay with. I need to go back to hooking rugs.
    4. I thought that there was no way it could get that HOT in Florida, but it turned out it could get that hot and more!!
Thanks, Ellen! Happy Friday to the Meowing Crew!

    1. Thank you for these great answers. We went on a cruise for our honeymoon – didn’t like it either- too peopley. 🙂 You could learn knitting with youtube. XO

  6. 1. Never depend on anyone to take care of you was the best advice I ever received. I’ve always made sure that I didn’t need to depend on anyone else for anything.
    2. Quit your job and come work for me was the worst advice I ever received. I’m happy I didn’t do this.
    3. If I knew how to be crafty, I would make lots of cute things. I don’t have a crafty bone in my body.
    4. I thought I would be single for the rest of my life, but it turned out that Zane was there waiting for me. I’m a very lucky gal.

Thank you for co-hosting the Friendly Fill-Ins.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Ellen. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to the kitties. ♥

  9. Yes, change majors if you realize what you started in just isn’t right.

Angel Joanie was a fabulous pirate. Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!

  10. Learn to take care of yourself, then you don’t have to depend on anyone was the best advice I ever got. It was from my mom.

  11. Chaplin: “That’s a great list of thankfuls! Our Dada says that back in college when Mama was getting her teaching degree the college told her not to take Special Ed because there would be no demand for it, and then after she graduated, all the jobs were Special Ed! The real reason they were saying that was apparently because her college didn’t teach it.”
Charlee: “Our Dada agrees with you about the blogging ― he is pretty sure it has cost him way more in fees than he has made by selling books over on his author blog! Of course, maybe if he mentioned his books more often over there, more people would buy them …”
