Crocheted Turkey Legs

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you all had a great weekend. Phoebe got lots of visitors again, maybe I should let her write more often.

As most of you know, we are having a giveaway for 2 catnip crochet turkey legs and a wishbone ornament. 002If you haven’t commented yet, please do today or tomorrow. The winner will be announced Wednesday. Then we will do it again next week and the week after.

I am especially proud of the turkey legs because after 4 years of crocheting, I have made my own pattern. I am going to post it here and on Ravelry. If you don’t know about Ravelry, it is a great website for all patterns knit and crochet and most are free.

Here is the pattern: I use Sugar and Cream brand cotton yarn, but most yarns should work. You need white and tan or brown depending on how you like the turkey. Hook is size G/6-4.25mm

With brown or tan chain 2

6 single crochet into 1st chain (6sc)

2 single crochet in each of the 6 sc ( 12sc)

2 single crochet, 1 single crochet – 6 times ( 18sc)

single crochet decrease 9 times ( 9sc)

single crochet in each of the 9 single crochet -4 times  ( 36sc)

Change to white: 9 single crochet-2 times (18 sc)

Stuff with polyfill and a teaspoon of catnip and crochet bottom together-give to kitty.

    1. I started crocheting 4 years ago by taking a class at the library. I haven’t advanced much, but I only wanted to make cat toys so I am happy. If I can do it ( I am a leftie), I am sure your mom can too.

  1. You gave my human crochet flashbacks with this post – she used to crochet but she never seems to have time for it anymore now that she’s on the computer so much. We love those turkey legs and think they are a great design!

  2. You made those? That’s great. I crochet but have trouble with “round” items like that. What a fun giveaway!

  4. Those turkey legs look so yummy!!! We won’t enter the giveaway since we just won some crochet toys from you recently. Someone else should have a shot. But we still wanted to comment to tell you how cute they are!

  5. TW used to crochet until she welcomes cats into her house. Then all bets were off and she says she prolly wouldn’t know how. You’re lucky your Mom makes these cute toys.

    1. Awww…thank you and purrs to you too. I love your new bathroom, those cat fixtures are great.

  6. We are so happy to enter and try and win these great turkey legs. Dads Mom was very into crochet and for years would make and sell her designs to the little magazines that used to be in the supermarket checkout. His sister had one of the first computers and Mom would just whip something up and then make a second one telling his sister what she did. He still has some ornaments that she made him and brings them out during the holidays.
