Awww…Monday

Hi everyone. We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays .

I have a lot of good books to tell you about this week. Rosie is posing with Are You Mad at Me? How to Stop Focusing on What Others Think and Start Living for You by Meg Josephson has provided me with more help than 14 years of therapy ever did. In it she describes how people pleasing is actually a defense mechanism many of us resort to in childhood.

And I wanted some spooky books for the season. Dusty is not so sure about them though.

Ghosts and Murders of Manhattan by Elise Gainer is interesting. I wish it had more on the ghosts than the murders though.

And When We Spoke to the Dead: How Ghosts Gave American Women Their Voice by Ilise S. Carter is interesting. I am interested in Spiritualism and this explains the start of it with a twist on how it got women’s voices heard. I especially enjoyed the chapter on Lily Dale, a town in upstate NY that many psychics/mediums live. I have always wanted to visit there, but it is too far for a day trip and I no longer leave my kitties even for a night.

  1. I don’t think I could bring myself to tread spooky books…I’d have nightmares forever!

We have a lady where I work, and she often asks us (over and over again…) if we are mad at her….she is functioning at a young child level…so sad.

  2. So good to see Rosie and Dusty! Those books do all sound interesting, even though some sound a bit spooky too! XO

  3. Those books all sound good. I always tried to please others growing up through my teens and twenties. In fact I don’t think it was until we started cruising, and met so many people from different countries that I really became my true person. Not knowing them, they saw me for who I was and I reacted accordingly. It made me a lot stronger, but it took until my mid 40s to be like that.

  4. Rosie you’re doing a fine job with one of Mommy’s best books. It’s wonderful you found someone that helps you make sense of you regular life. Precious wanted to tell you how pleased she was to see Brody on Dani Girls blog.

  5. Cute pics of Rosie and Dusty. Are You Mad at Me? How to Stop Focusing on What Others Think and Start Living for You, sounds very interesting. Happy Monday.

  6. Charlee: “Spooky books! Our Dada loves those! When he was little and they went to Washington, D.C., one time, his grandparents got him a book about D.C. ghosts and he spent the rest of the trip looking over his shoulder for them, or so we have heard …”

  7. I always enjoy hearing about the books you’re reading. Love the second book the best. We need to take care of us first and then we can care for others. Always has been my philosophy.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to mom. ♥

  8. The last book sounds particularly interesting. Thanks for recommendations. XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona & Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer, Kizmet, Audrey & Raleigh

  9. Definitely going to order the Meg Josephson book. I was always asking my Mom if she was mad at me… because she was it seemed. Rosie and Dusty were great helpers today… adorable is what they are 🙂

  10. Thank you for posing so nicely, Rosie and Dusty!

I am very interested in the first book. It sounds like something I might need.

  11. That first book looks good, I may have to check it out at the library. Spooky books, nope. I like mysteries but don’t want to be scared.
