Hi everyone! Thank you for all the get well wishes for Typhoid Mary yesterday. She recovered very quickly from surgery on Friday and is going to school on Monday. She got to bring her stuffed giraffe ( Raffie) in the OR with her and they even put the mask on him to knock him out. 🙂

Dusty is posing with a good book I just finished. The Joy of Connections: 100 Ways to Beat Loneliness and Live a Happier and More meaningful Life by Dr. Ruth Westheimer is a great book filled with tips on enjoying life. This is the last book she wrote and the only one of hers that I ever read of hers.
I know Dr. Ruth is mainly known for specializing in one area, but she led quite the extraordinary life during her 97 years. She survived the Holocaust, but lost all of her family. She was a sniper for the Israeli army, a kindergarten teacher, a therapist, a mother, grandmother, and so much more. It is a short little book, but well worth reading.
Quite a life story. It also sounds an excellent book. What we need these days.

Yes, she sure had an interesting life, but a lot of sadness. XO
Cute pic of Dusty! Sounds like an excellent book indeed! XO no
Yikes I’ve no idea how that stray “no” got into the post! Shaky fingers these days tap lots of wrong letters, autocorrect, etc. Comment ended with XO.
No worries. I do stuff like that a lot too. XO
Word “no” is accident, yikes!
No problem. 🙂 XO
Thank you. XO
Mama is getting the book NOW! And wow–Dr Ruth as a sniper!!!! That was so amazing to us. What a pistol she was!
I like your pun. :)XO
I am glad TM recovered well. That sounds a very good book.
Thank you. XO
I’m glad you reminded me about Dr Ruth. What a hard life she must have had and thankfully she ended up living a wonderful life. And I’d say dusty is living a Wonderful Life.
Thank you. I hope Dusty is happy. XO
Cute pic of Dusty, and the book sounds very interesting.
Thank you. XO
YAY for TM’s quick recovery.
I didn’t know Dr. Ruth was a kindergarten teacher or a sniper…
Happy Monday
Hugs cecilia
Thank you. Yes, she did a lot in her life. XO
I missed the surgery. Not blogging Thursday through Sunday I miss stuff. I’m glad all is well. Healing hugs.
You always read the coolest books.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Ellen. A hug to you and lots of scritches to the kitties. ♥
Thank you. XO
Glad to hear TM did well with her surgery. How cute they let her take in her giraffe and masked him up too. So precious. Dr. Ruth was an amazing human who inspired people. I’ll have to check out her last book-thanks for the recommendation. Happy Monday.
Thank you. Glad your comment got through. XO
I am amazed they let Giraffe in, but very pleased they did! xo
Me too. 🙂 XO

We’re not sure what happened to our comment. We’re glad TM’s surgery went well.
I think a gremlin took it. Sorry. 🙂
That book sounds really interesting. Very happy to hear the surgery went well.
Thank you. XO
We are glad everything went well for Typhoid Mary! And Dr Ruth’s Book is wonderful. I’m glad that you enjoyed it too! Keep being awesome Ellen! Love Barb
Thank you. XO
Dusty, you are doin’ a GREAT job of posin’ with that book. PURRS
She thanks you. XO
Dr. Ruth certainly had an interesting life. Glad you enjoyed her book.
Yes, she did and a long one too.
Dr Ruth sure knew a lot about all the good and bad of life, and she made the most of every opportunity to be the good…for herself and others.
Glad TM recovered so quickly!
Yes, she did. Thank you. XO
We hope the surgery to remove the adenoids will help Typhoid Mary. Our human sister had that done when she was little because of so many strep throat issues and ear infections. It did seem to help.
Woos – Misty and Timber
Same reason for her. I hope it does help. XO
Sounds like a good book. Cute photo of Dusty.
Thank you. 🙂
I’m sure happy to hear that the surgery went well. Dusty, you are such a cutie!
Thank you. 🙂
Too cute about the mask!
I thought so too. 🙂
Letting her take “Raffie” is a great idea. After all, there are no germs on her own stuffie she isn’t exposed to already, all the sterility is so the environment and staff don’t expose her to anything she’s not used to.
Dusty is a beauty and the book sounds like a great one from someone who knew a lot more than I ever will.
Yes, it was definitely a comfort for her. XO
Chaplin: “We’re glad to hear Typhoid Mary did well with her surgery, and that she got to bring Raffie with her! Having a little friend along helps with that kind of situation.”
Charlee: “Yes, I heard that when our Dada was in the hospital, our Mama got him a stuffed gnome that he called ‘Substitute Charlee’ and took with him when he went for tests and stuff.”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, I bet you wish you, the Actual Charlee, could have been there with him instead of Substitute Charlee, eh?”
Charlee: “Ha ha ha ha ha ha no.”
How sweet that your dad had a substitute Charlee. XO
Dr. Ruth was more than a woman who seemed to have only sex on her mind. lol Seriously, she led an interesting life to say the least. A sniper? That blows my mind! I’m amazed to read stories of those who survived the Holocaust. This sounds like a book I’d enjoy. Thanks for sharing, Ellen. Have a boogietastic week, my dear! xo
I was shocked by the sniper part too. XO
My comment didn’t make it!
SOrry. 🙁 XO
