Hi everyone. Before we start, I want to have a moment of silence for Gertrude of Marg’s Animals who left for The Rainbow Bridge on Monday.
I am joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop because I am thankful that we are finally rid of the sickness that we all had ( except Brody). And I will be seeing Grammie today, I love her so very much.
Brody wasn’t sick, but he didn’t escape a trip to the vet. He was due for a rabies vaccine. This week, Brody and I wrote a poem together for Sammy’s Poetry Day.
Damn Vet
Mom dragged me off the damn vet
I am starting to think I’m not her favorite pet
I admit I felt like crud
but those vampires shouldn’t have taken my blood
They gave me an anti-nausea shot
I guess that helped a lot
The next day Mom dragged me off too
please remind me to vomit in her shoe
I was given a rabies vaccine
by a lady whose name was not Maxine
To my lovely Leia I send a kiss
to Mom and the Damn vet a hiss!
Emmy also wanted to give writing poetry a try so she used one of the word choices, dark.
Dark
I only come out when it is dark
that is when I get my spark
When everyone else is sound asleep
I wander about not making a peep
In the morning toys scattered on the floor
to pick them all up is quite a chore
Maybe someday I will sleep at night
instead of sleeping while it is light
Do you like my shades?
Mom is participating in Wandering Through the Shelves TMP blog hop again this week, the theme is summer vacation.
- A Walk on the Moon ( 1999)- Set in 1969, a family goes to a Jewish summer retreat in The Catskills. Great music and incredible acting by Diane Lane, Liev Schreiber, Viggo Mortensen and a young Anna Paquin. This is one of my favorite films and it doesn’t even have Nicola Cage in it.
- Dirty Dancing ( 1987)- I think everyone knows of this one.
- Dirty Dancing (2017) – This is a remake of the original and made for tv, but it was pretty good. Abigail Breslin played Baby, I think she seemed too young for the part. The original came out when I was 18 so it could just be that I am so much older now that she seemed extra young. I did like the extra ending in this one.
And here are the fill-ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two. Please purr and pray for Annie’s beautiful cat, Chloe Jo , she has been having numerous health problems and was hospitalized for several days.

Brody your poem you said you were sick?
Brody got sick?? He felt nauseaous too. Oh No!
Hope he is doing better now.
And we like Emmy;s poem too.Maybe her former life has her ‘clock’ mixed up.
We don’t know any of those films.MOL!
No, Brody wasn’t sick, he just needed a rabies shot. Emmy thanks you, I think she was up all night to hunt for food before. Wow, you don’t even know about Dirty Dancing?
I liked both the poems, and Emmy’s told me something about her I didn’t know yet!
Thank you, glad you like our poems.
So glad to hear that you’re all doing well!! The vet thing… we came to know that Mom has similar plans for us. We’ll hiss for sure!
Uh-OH! Good luck!
Both poems are great!! Emmy has fit right in; I hope she finds a best friend among your clowder!
Thank you. She seems settled, but doesn’t really want friends yet. XO
OH BOY! Two poems and both of them are FABULOUS……Mom giggled all the way through the first one (tee hee) and we think Emmy is incredibly GLAM in her sunglasses in that photo! Well done kitties! Sorry to hear Brody still has tummy issues though…..sending him extra hugs. Thanks for writing such great poetry – isn’t it FUN???!!!!!
Love, Teddy
Thank you, glad you like our poems and Emmy’s shades. Brody is fine tummy wise, he just needed a rabies vaccine 🙂 XO and love to you sweet boy
It’s a big relief to know everyone is feeling better. The poems were both great.
I’m familiar with the original Dirty Dancing, but wasn’t aware there had been a remake. Decades ago, when the original came out, an older friend said that she’d read a Harlequin Romance with that same story sometime in the late 50s. I recall looking at the credits, but not seeing anything about the movie being based on a book, so have always wondered about that.
Thank you. I did not know that about Dirty Dancing being taken from a Harlequin Romance, the only thing is this is set in 1963, not the 50’s.
Thanks so very much for the nice shout out for Gertrude. We appreciate it a lot. Love the poems and Emmy, you look terrific in your sunglasses. You all have a super duper day.
You’re welcome, Gertrude was a sweet girl. We are glad you like our poems and shades too.
Love the poems! And the really cool sunglasses 🙂
Thank you 🙂
What a treat, giving us two fantastic poems! We sure are glad that all of you are feeling well now. Emmy, do you like to play with the other kitties? Or do you prefer playing by yourself at night? Well, you sure are a pretty girl either way! Purrs!
Thank you, we are glad you like our poetry. Emmy still keeps to herself and doesn’t seem to want to make friends.
The poems made me grin. Nice shades, too. Thinking of Dirty Dancing (like the Star Wars trilogy, there’s only one to this purist) makes me miss the late, great Patrick Swayzee. ~sigh~ What a mensch, by all accounts.
Patrick Swayze was incredible and no one can fill his shoes. Emmy thanks you.
It was a very sad thing about Gertrude.
I love your poems and the first one is my favorite.
Have a purrfect day. Boo to your mom and the vet. ☺
Thank you. Yes, Boo to my Mom and the vet.
We were sad to hear about sweet Gertrude. Both of those poems are great you two are very talented. Yes, we do like your shades, they match your colors very well. Hugs and nose kisses
Thank you. Emmy thanks you too. XO

So sorry to hear about Gertrude.

Thank you, I am sure Marg will appreciate your kind words. XO
You have very artistic cats, Ellen!
Thank you. 🙂
What we would give to have a vet visit the house instead of having to drag our kitties to their office! Nice poetry, kitties!
That would be nice. Glad you like our poetry.
Great poems! My boys probably have lot of ideas for “damn vet” themed poems 🙂
Thank you. We bet they do too 🙂
Hooray for good health! Have fun with your Grammie, Phoebe!
Thank you. I had fun with Grammie. XO

See, Phoebe ! You and Brody DO have something in common ! And Emmy, your poem was great !
Thank you we are glad you like our poems.
Love those poems! Don’t you know we feel about the doctor the way you do about the vet? We just know if we don’t go, or take you, things will get worse not better. It’s still not fun.
Thank you. 🙂
Love your poetry! So glad you’re all feeling better.
Thank you. XO
Glad everycat is feeling better. Lots of cats have gone OTRB this week. Even TW saw the original Dirty Dancing on tv and she doesn’t watch movies.
There has been too much sadness lately.
Haha I love the poems. I’m very glad you’re feeling better 🙂 Love the shades too, very cool 😉
Thank you. glad you like our poems and shades.
Emmy’s a night owl, huh? I guess with your gang someone is probably always awake!
Yes, usually it is Emmy. 🙂
Oh Goodness sakes. I thought I had commented already because I sure read the bloggie. I remember every word. But it is a pleasure to be here again and look at you.
I love your tribute to Gertrude. Thank you for it. I have loved her for a long time and it made mommy and I leaky eyed when we learned she had gone to the Bridge and several days prior as she was crying and not eating.
Mommy wishes she had the power to make every fur baby and every animal not have to hurt or suffer. She does. XXXXX
We wish we had that power to heal too. XO
Very glad to hear that everyone is on the mend. Great poems and great photos. So sorry about Gertrude. I have the original Dirty Dancing on DVD. I love the music and love watching Patrick Swayze dance. ???
It is a great movie.
Brody!! My handsome mancat, I’m so sorry you had to go see the Damn Vet ! I went yesterday too.
My poor sweet girl, I hope you are feeling OK. XO
Pawsome poem! That’s how we feel about the d*mn vet too. 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Mommy remembers A Walk on the Moon! Now she wants to rent it. Or stream it. Or whatever humans do now. We love your poems.
I usually watch it once every summer 🙂 I hope she gets to watch it. Glad you like the poems, thank you.
I like how your choices have the interlacing thread of the Catskills. Diane Lane is sensational in A Walk on the Moon and that film’s vision of the Catskills as a vacation destination is a bit more realistic than Dirty Dancing though both are journeys of discovery. The original Dirty Dancing is corny in many ways but also charming. A remake though seems totally superfluous and I won’t watch.
I went with a couple of teen comedies I would watch endlessly as a kid and a travelogue comedy of more recent years.
My Life in Ruins (2009)-Stranded in Athens teacher Georgia (Nia Vardalos) takes a job as a tour guide which she hates and isn’t very good at hiding it. Every group seems just like the last-a goofy couple, a frat boy, a sullen teen, a feuding couple, divorcées looking for a mate, and the funny guy who really isn’t. Mostly tourists on summer vacation and mostly Americans they’re historied out by the time she gets them and most just want to shop. Her latest group looks like it will be business as usual but as unexpected events transpire what starts out so badly slowly turns into a life changing pleasure. Genial romantic comedy filled with stunning views of Greece.
Beach Blanket Bingo (1965)-It’s summer vacation so Frankie & Annette along with Bonehead and the whole gang hit the beach and battle Eric Von Zipper and his gearheads to save the kidnapped singing star Sugar Kane (Linda Evans) with the help of mermaid Lorelei (hey it’s a beach party movie go with it). The ultimate AIP summer flick where all the typical elements gelled into the best of the series with the catchiest theme song.
Gidget (1959)-17 year old Frances Lawrence (Sandra Dee) goes to the beach one day on her summer vacation with her girlfriends. While they are sunning she decides to take a swim and promptly gets bumped on the head by surfboarder Moondoggie (James Darren). Intrigued by both the sport and the boy she buys a second hand board with her birthday money and is soon hitting the waves with Moondoggie and his gang of buddies lead by slightly older beach bum The Kahuna (Cliff Robertson) who dub her Gidget (a contraction of Girl and Midget). From then on it’s pretty much sun, fun and hitting the curl until the film takes a darkish turn when Kahuna, who’s been traveling around the world chasing the perfect wave, faces an existential life crisis but that doesn’t stop Gidget and Moondoggie from falling in love. Enormously successful film with a very appealing Sandra Dee followed by several sequels and a short lived TV show that introduced Sally Field to the world.
Great choices, I have seen Beach Blanket Bingo and My Life in Ruins.I have heard of Gidget, but not seen it.
Brody ! Dude you are lucky You are not sick !
Deal with the medicine is tough. Me do hate it =^x^=
anyhow Have a great day
We are sorry you need medicine Mr. Puddy.
So sorry to hear about Gertrude and wishing the best for the other cutie pie cat. I love your poems and the first one. Is funny. I would love to see the first film pick. I have heard of it but forgot all about it plus I love Viggo Mortensen. I saw Dirty Dancing and, I like Patrick Swayze but I just wanted to slap Baby because she seemed to act like one. Anyone who allows to be called Baby needs a slap:)
Thank you. I hope you get to see A Walk on the Moon, it is great, one of my favorites.
I also picked Dirty Dancing, the original one.
Good choice.
Yes, I love your shades, Emmy! A wonderful poem you did write, too!
And Phoebe, a most excellent collaboration with Brody on the poem about the tummy issues there and Brody’s visit for his stabby shot.
I am so happy you got to see Grammie… I hadn’t heard about her visiting for a bit!
Emmy thanks you and so do Brody and Phoebe.
I am still in Thursday. Great poems and love the sunglasses! Only film line pops into my head is “We’re gonna need a bigger boat!”
Thank you 🙂 That is a great line from Jaws.
Glad all are feeling better Love your poems!
Thank you. 🙂
Yay for being over the sickness!
Thank you 🙂
