Wordless Wednesday ( Sort of)

DSCF2444

Hi everyone! The last of the 4 kittens has been captured and is already at the shelter. Mo will get neutered through there instead of the feral program. He is pretty tame and I am sure he will get a great home.

The question for day 7 of P.S.Annie’s 19-Somethin Challenge is Did you ever get hurt trying to imitate someone else? I was so impressed with Mary Lou Retton that I started taking gymnastics lessons, I was already in high school and 5 ft. 10 inches tall- not a wise choice. I broke my foot and still have a bump on top of it because of how my bones healed.

BP_Wordless_wed_Hop_Logo_2014Sorry it had some words, but less than usual. πŸ™‚ Click here to go to the hop.

  1. Yea for Mo, getting a chance at an indoor forever home!

I know I’ve gotten a lot of emotional wounds from trying to be more like other people rather than myself. More and more I realize I’m the best person at being me, and that’s enough! Other people can be like other people and I’ll cover me!

Thank you for you recent kind words on my blog about Buddy’s passing – I count them as treasure as my heart heals.

    1. Being yourself is all you can do and from what I read, you are a great person. I am very sorry about Buddy.

  2. I was the tallest kid in my class – boy or girl – until 7th grade. My parents thought I should do gymnastics … but not only did my body NOT cooperate, I was scared of heights so the uneven bars had me sobbing to quit. Considering I’ve never sobbed like that before or since, my parents were wise to listen to me πŸ™‚

  3. Hooray for Mo!! Hpe he finds a wonderfur furmily:)

Must be something about feet… when the petcretary’s pawrents had a new puppy way back in the early 1980’s, she was showing her girlfriend how this puppy walked…which was kind of like a step and a jump and a step and a jump…he was a crazy dog all his life…well, she came down on the side of her foot and crack! She broke a bone in there…ouch. She got to take several weeks off of her job on account of that…and when the weather goes all low pressure it still aches. That was not funny then, but it is, now that time has gone bye:)

  4. Well, my high school started soccer when I was a junior. The Junior Varsity football guys all came out, sure they would take over, but they couldn’t stand the pace of playing constantly. And not having padding and helmets. So they left (whimpering and cramping away), LOL! So we smaller wiry guys took over. I had run long distance track the year before, so I could keep running all day.

I kept trying to do those overhead kicks until I learned how to, but then suddenly they didn’t allow those high kicks. Too “dngerous”… So I had tried to imitate real soccer players and they wouldn’t permit it…

I still had that kick when I went to college, but everyone else did too and I wasn’t quite good enough at imitating the foot control of real players.

So imitating real soccer players got me nothing but leg muscles and lots of bruises…

    1. Sounds like you were pretty good though. I am impressed that you ran track too. I have never been able to run, even when I was in shape and walked all the time.

  5. We are so glad about the kittens and their progress toward forever homes!

Mom says she remembered gymnastics when she was in high school – she HATED it and was not good at it. She says those memories are best unremembered and/or buried. I prefer to remember me and not those bad times! Kiss Miss Penny for me!!!

  6. YAY! That little guy certainly was tough to trap but now he’ll be fixed up (literally) and lead a happy forever kind of life insead of on his own in a feral colony.

    Hugs, Sammy

  7. total lee awesum nooze on all de wee kittenz !!!!! we send best fishes everee one findz ther for everz β™₯β™₯β™₯

  8. Yay for Mo! My two sisters LOVED gymnastics…but not me. I, however, had to take classes at the YMCA with them. The instructor finally told my parents that I obviously didn’t have the desire, and told them not to sign me up again! Wearing a leotard was a small slice of hell for me.

    1. Leotards were not my friend either, I am tall and they didn’t sell clothes in tall back then.

  9. Great news and job! We are certain Mo will find a wonderful, forever home! Funny…I was just mentioning to a friend recently that every sport has a body type and that people who do well in gymnastics are short and compact! πŸ™‚

the critters in the cottage xo

    1. That is very true. I never found a sport for my body type πŸ™‚ Mo is very sweet, he will have no trouble getting adopted. XO

  10. i’m glad you were able to help all of those kittens! It sounds like you got quite the ouchie when you were doing gymnastics. I’m glad that you are okay. πŸ™‚ It is probably a lot funnier now than it was then. If it makes you feel any better, I actually hyperextended my knee while competing in Science Olympiad in high school.

  11. I’m glad that the shelter in your area is a safe one and actually a “shelter”. The one here is a kill zone. As soon as they get cats, since the catcher hates them, he gasses them immediately. We’ve heard that some people in town have traps in their yards to catch the kitties for the catcher creep to pick up. πŸ™

Does your foot still hurt from the injury or is it more just a visual reminder because of the bump? I hope it doesn’t cause you any problems these days and sorry that it got broken in the first place.

Thanks for participating in our 19-Somethin’ challenge. Have a blessed week!

  12. I didn’t hurt myself, but I did hurt my cousin when I thought I could be a Rodeo Queen and wanted to practice my cow roping skills. It didn’t really go well for her. LOL Although, I certainly did come off my horse a few times in pursuit of some of those trick riding skills.
