MEOW Exhibit at Worcester Art Museum #WAMCATS

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. I didn’t make any art, but I thought you would like to see some of the art on exhibit at The Worcester Art Museum in Worcester, MA.

There are several famous pieces of cat art on display until September 4th for example,ย  Woman with a Cat, 1864, Gustave Courbet. There was also cat-inspired art work from the community which was one of my favorite parts.

I don’t know what is wrong with me, but the “real” art didn’t thrill me. Here are 2 examples. DSCF1955DSCF1961

I was much happier with the art of local people. This one was from a lady in my town who always rescues cats and loaned me the trap to catch Brody and the other ferals.

They also have a “Cats- In -Residence” program in partnership with the Worcester Animal Rescue League. There are adoptable cats in an enclosure that you can enter and interact with. When I went, there were 4 cats, 2 were hiding and the other 2 were very friendly. They are all adoptable and as they get adopted new ones are added.DSCF1931 (2)My Mom and I were both tempted by this cutie.

You can see a live feed 24/7 if you click here. They are also offering classes to sew catnip toys, take pet photos and many others. None were being offered the day we were there, but they sound like fun. This was a great way to spend my birthday last week.

  2. I’m so glad you got to go when so much cat art was on display. I love the art of your local friend. And I love that they have adoptable cats on site! That is so great! Purrs, and thank you for sharing this all with us!

  3. Wow, awesome and comforting to know that so many people are out there helping the cats who need homes. Very nice post and I would have been tempted by that little Russian Blue too as he looks like my Alpha in friendlier sort of way ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Oh nice exhibit!!!!! Mom and I quite like the artwork with the lady holding the big cat on her shoulder…it’s sweet…..but everything is nice. Especially like the fact they included adoptable cats in the exhibit!

    Hugs, Sammy

  7. Glad you had a good birthday, Miss Ellen.
How fun to have a museum like that! It would be pawsome as a birthday activity, and you scored! Did your own kitties sniff you all over when you got home?? MOL!

    1. Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I only touched one cat and I washed my hands so they never knew ๐Ÿ™‚
