Sunday Selfies

Hi everyone. We are joining, The Cat On My Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.

Brody- still waiting for Precious to join him.
Rosie-enjoying the peace and quiet.
Penelope- she is a pretty girl.

Penelope has a vet appointment Monday. She is (over)due for a rabies shot plus I want her checked for arthritis because she walks like she might have it.  If she has it, I will get the monthly injection for her as it seems to work miracles. Has anyone gotten it for their cat? If so, would you recommend it?

  1. Charlee: “I enjoy peace and quiet too, Rosie! But I do not enjoy vet visits. Maybe you can spirit Penelope away on your Meow Yacht.”
Oona: “Dada just said that Penelope is not the one who goes to sea, Odysseus is. Then he laughed and laughed and laughed. Oona has no idea what he is talking about, as usual.”

  2. Dearest Ellen,
    Poor Brody—waiting for Precious…
    The girls look lovely.

  3. Mama got the shot for me long ago when I was having difficulties with arthritis and we hoped so much it would work. It works for a percentage of cases, but it did not work for me. I had two shots actually, after which the vet can tell if it worked and it did not work. They are expensive but that was not the reason we stopped. The shots are miracles for some kitties. I just wasn’t one of them, sigh…..

  4. Brody, you look so handsome on that fall color blanket. We’ve had cold weather a couple mornings and when I come in off my patio my ears are cold. My allergies are acting up and my ears itch and my eye is swollen. Then it’s going to have to give up and let the doctor give me real allergy medicine soon. We hope Penelope is okay.

  5. I hope she is okay. Animals don’t need rabies injections in Australia, as we don’t have rabies, thank goodness. I hope the border controls keep working. It is an advantage being an island, but what a tragedy if diseases enter and affect our unique wild fauna. It doesn’t bear thinking about. A mysterious disease has nearly wiped out Tasmanian Devils with frantic efforts to conserve a disease free population. Koalas in many areas also suffer from disease. I think this is the incredibly stressed environment for these animals with human encroachment everywhere. Sasha is an indoor cat with an outside enclosure. He only goes out on his lead with me. Otherwise he is a keen hunter.
We hope that something can be done about any arthritis condition. Animals are excellent at not showing injury or pain. And best wishes from Sasha.

  6. Lovely selfies, all, and me and dad hope Penelope’s vet visit goes well. I’m good so far, but dad’s been dealing with that darn stuff in multiple joints throughout his body. And he has the nerve to call ME old!

  7. Good morning sweet kitties! (yay, we’re finally set up to properly comment here!) … Happy Sunday to one and all … and PeeEss, if’n your arthur-itis shot helps, let mine Mommy know cause she says she doesn’t paw around quite as good anymore either! (so says your friend JUNE)

  8. I didn’t know about the injection for cats. I will have to ask about it the next vet visit Scylla goes on. Thank you for sharing the info.

  9. What great selfies! Good luck to Penelope at her vet appointment. Solensia didn’t work for Ernie but I’ve heard it has helped many other cats. It may take 2-3 shots to see a difference.

  10. I hope all goes well at the vets for Penelope tomorrow. Rosie, I am enjoying my peace and quiet today 🙂
Brody, maybe your Mom could send her an email for you♥
    Enjoyed your Selfies!

  11. A beautiful trio of selfies. We have heard that the injection works very well for cats. Lightning was getting it but we really didn’t see enough of a difference in him for it to warrant the cost. We hope it will work for Penelope if they determine she needs it.

    Happy Sunday.

  12. No injections here but I do use Korero Green Lipped Mussel supplement you might like to try.

  13. We love your selfies, sweet ones. We have heard those injections work well for some kitties. We are purring and praying for a good vet appointment for Penelope. XO

  14. I hope Brody gets to be with precious soon…don’t give up, OK??!

    Pretty gals!! The kitties, LOL!!

I know that some kitties do really well on that new shot, and some have little or no help from it. It wasn’t;t around when Pipo started to feel the effects arthritis, so he got a quarter of a human chondroitin/glucosamine tablet every day, with some relief, in that he started to play again…that was his routine from several years…maybe 4 or 5. The vet a=said it was OK…he knew about it.

    1. Thank you. SO far, so good. The glucosamine is a capsule that opens into powder to sprinkle on her food and she has been eating with it on. I haven’t used the pain meds because she had some the other day to calm her for the appointment and she has been walking pretty good. I think the humidity was getting to her before. XO
