Hi everyone! Today we aew featuring the letter D in The A-Z Blogging Challenge. A Cat’s Life : Dulcy’s Story by Dee Ready annoyed me. It is supposedly the story of the love between a cat and her owner that began in 1972. I felt so bad for Dulcy, the cat. The owner keeps letting her go outside even after she has to have her tail amputated from an injury. She doesn’t get her spayed right away so she almost dies of a miscarriage. This is more of a book that I don’t recommend. I am glad most people take better care of their cats now.
We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and The Pet Parade
I used Lunapic’s Cartoon effect for my art.
.
It sounds like poor Dulcy had a very irresponsible owner. They couldn’t have seen that or surely wouldn’t have written about it. I hope if she had another cat she learnt from her mistakes.
Thanks for the puzzle.
I don’t think she saw it either. You’re welcome for the puzzle. XO
I don’t think I can handle reading a story like that. It would just upset me 🙁
It sure upset me too.
Thanks for the heads up on this book, Ellen. If it annoyed you, it would annoy me. After being around on the pet blogs where people are responsible cat owners it is hard to read about cats that are not well taken care of. A lovely puzzle, thank you!
Thank you 🙂 XO
We think we’ll skip that book.
Thanks for the puzzle!!
The Florida Furkids
Thank you 🙂 XO
I agree, doesn’t sound like a book I would like either. Cute effect!
Thank you 🙂
Oh my word…I don’t think I could have read that one….
thanks for the heads up but I have not seen and won’t look for it.
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you. XO
Back then, it was “bring in the dog and put out the cat” at night, assuming cats wanted to roam all night and liked it that way. We know better now so we do better, just like we don’t use mercury to “cure” syphilus any more, and other awful stuff. It’s sometimes good to look back and see how practices have changed for the better, although i can see how reading about it can be very disturbing.
I am glad most are better with pets now.
Some cat owners just never learn!
I agree.
That book would upset us too!
Lovely art 🙂
Thank you. XO
Oh my, we sure wouldn’t like a book like that or the human who treated her that way.
Glad I am not the only one that feels that way.
I wouldn’t be able to read that right now. Thanks for letting us know about it.
You’re welcome 🙂
I don’t think I’ll be reading that book. I would get really upset, for sure.
I wish I hadn’t read it hoping things would imrove for the kitty.
That sounds like a horrible book and a horrible cat owner.
Yes and yes.
Thanks for the heads up for a book we wouldn’t want/need to read.
And soon I will do the puzzle.
Thank you 🙂
I grew up in the 50s and 60s and attitudes towards pets were very different. Many considered it cruel and unnatural to keep a pet indoors.
I am glad things have changed.
Doesn’t sounds like a good book, poor Dulcy.
D is for Denim
No, it wasn’t.
Life was different back then; we are lucky that we all are much smarter now!
Off to puzzle…thanks!
Very true.
I like to believe that when we know better, we do better. This current situation with the virus makes me wonder though. Y’all stay safe.
Same here. I hope you stay safe too.
Oh my, what horrible reading material. We would get ightmares so we’ll pass on the book.
Shoko
I probably will get nightmares.
Mom says that book sounds like “a tear jerker.” Dulcy’s momma should get her a stroller and/or harness so she can go outside but be safe. Mom keeps me indoors unless I’m in my stroller, so she can rest easy knowing I wont get into cat fights or get hit by an auto. Head nuzzles.
That would have been best for her. Your mom is wise. XO
I appreciate that you share honest reviews of books. It’s nice to know not only what books you like and that therefore we might like, but also which ones you don’t recommend. I feel so bad for poor Dulcy.
I felt bad for her too.
is this where I re sign up?
Yes, there should be a box to check under the comment 🙂
