Friendly Fill-Ins Week 135

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins. Please leave your link (at bottom of post) here or at my co-host’s Four-Legged Furballs. You can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. I am hoping the lunky shows up, but WordPress changed the format for posts this week and I am still having a hard time figuring it out. If I don’t have a linky, my co-host will.

1. I really need to ___________________.
2. My favorite Christmas ( or Hanukkah) decoration is __________________________.

3. It’s beginning to look a lot like _________.
4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of _________.

My answers:

  1. I really need to finish Christmas shopping so I am not running around at the last minute.
  2. My favorite Christmas decoration is some lights from my childhood. They were missing for years, but I found them in the attic when we sold the house in 2003. (see photo below).
  3. It’s beginning to look a lot like Santa’s workshop in my dining room. That is where I put all the gifts waiting to be wrapped . I also get all my mailings ready in there.
  4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of sugar cookies. I love the ones sold at Barnes and Noble and they keep giving out coupons for buy one get one free so I keep buying them.

Joanie will be presenting The Nutcracker on Saturday. This is a photo from last year.

We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus.

  1. Those are some very nice decorations. Mom has some bubble lights from years and years ago. Most of them still light and she loves adding them to our tree.

B & N has the best cookies. The grands all get a free one for their birthday. And they are nice enough to let Mom have a taste too:)

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever seen those type of Christmas lights! It’s great that you still have them. I do have a lot of tree ornaments that I grew up with though – thankfully my Mom saved some of them. Joanie looks adorable and ready for the Nutcracker!!! I am finished shopping and wrapping thank heavens.

    Hugs, Pam

  3. Fun that you found the lights! Little things like that make the holidays special. I haven’t posted in so long and now my blog is parked and doing nothing but sitting there. I can only imagine trying to do a new post with the changes from WordPress. Such a sweet picture of Joanie. I don’t think we have a Barnes and Noble close. I am a sugar cookie fan and shortbread cookies.
    1. I really need to stay with my heart healthy walking.
    2. My favorite Christmas (or Hannukah) decoration is my Mom’s ceramic Christmas tree.
    3. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here… lots of houses decorated and downtown Venice. We walked downtown last night and the lights were amazing!
    4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of boiled peanuts!

    1. Thank you for these great answers. My hubby and I need to do some walking too. How nice that you have your mom’s ceramic tree. They are making a comeback, Michael’s has one out this year. Peanuts sound healthy. Have a nice weekend! XO

  4. Yours is a great list! Here’s mine:
    1. I really need to… get a move on – Christmas is almost here.
    2. My favorite Christmas ( or Hanukkah) decoration… is a purple sparkly candlestick holder my niece made me when she was five. She’s now 23 but it still comes out every year!
    3. It’s beginning to look a lot like… I’ll be dashing around like an idiot trying to get everything done in time – just like always.
    4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of… all kinds of chocolate. I try to avoid it the rest of the year but at Christmas, what the heck!

    1. Thank you for these great answers. That sounds like a special candle holder. I eat chocolate year round 🙂 Have a nice weekend! XO

  5. Ellen,

I remember when the kids were small, my dining room was an explosion of DIY projects throughout the holiday season and then the kitchen looked like Mrs. Claus and her elves set up a candy & bake shop. Those were the good ole days for sure. I do miss them. Happy Friday! I’m sorry I haven’t been around too much lately. Have a joyful Christmas season, my friend!

    1. That does sound like a fun time, too bad it goes by so fast. I hope you are having a nice Christmas season. XO

  6. Way cool on having lights from your childhood. Wow.

I love sugar cookies too, but rarely have cookies. They go right to my hips and I don’t like that.

Joanie is adorable all dressed up.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. ♥

  7. I never really thought that childhood stuff was important to me, until I recently found the clown doll that I received for being a flowergirl for my godmother’s wedding. I’m ready to send it to a doll restorer, to wash it and fix the parts of the face that fell off…I carried that doll for years! His name is Clowny…so original!

  8. What adorable lights! I’m reminded of a doll from childhood. One end featured Little Red Riding Hood but if you flipped her skirt over her head you had the wolf dressed as Granny. I’ll let you guess which way I played with ‘him’. Heh…

    1. Thank you. I went to B&N today and they were out of sugar cookies 🙁 Hope you have a great weekend too!

  9. Whoa! Those lights are great! Love the nutcracker too. Does that play music like our’s does? TW did all her shopping online since she’s been so sick but hasn’t wrapped or written cards which we actually made early this year too.

  10. We have all our Christmas shopping done. Everyone is getting the same thing we gave them last year, which was nothing.

We don’t have any little ones to shop for, so there isn’t really much to do.

We will celebrate by watching a movie or something like that. Have a Merry Christmas.

  11. You’re adorable, Joanie. I love the nutcracker, too.

I don’t blame you on the cookie buying, Ellen. Sugar cookies are great! Sometime very soon, we’ll have a ginger sugar cookie recipe on our cooking channel.

That is a very nice Little Red Riding Hood light set. 🙂

Have a blessed day and weekend!

    1. Thank you. And Joanie thanks you too. I look forward to a video on sugar cookies. I hope you have a blessed weekend too. XO

  12. Those are great decorations! We have some on our tree that belonged to the Dad’s Grandma’s Grandma…yep, they are way up high for some reason.

  13. Joanie would love to be with the over 300 drummer nutcrackers we have at our den! Some are huge and some are tiny…

    1. I really need to finish my cards to mail out, I am so behind…
    2. My favorite Christmas ( or Hanukkah) decoration are my drummers and some things from my childhood home, and from Hubbys home, too. I wish I had the bubble lights and choirboy candles that my parents had way back then…

    3. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here, finally she put up the trees and lights, but of course that made her even later with the cards, MOL!
    4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of all things mostly not ever eaten at this den…naughty me!! MOL!

    1. Thank you for these great answers. Joanie would love those nutcrackers 🙂 I just got my cards out yesterday 🙂 Have a nice weekend! XO

  14. “Santa’s Workshop” – brilliant! I keep our wrapped presents in our living room until Christmas, they add to the atmosphere.
    Have a wonderful week!

  15. 1. I really need to decorate the tree.
    2. My favorite Christmas ( or Hanukkah) decoration is a mailbox with my address on it (a housewarming gift 32 years ago).
    3. It’s beginning to look a lot like a swamp here (we set a rainfall record for here this year).
    4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of everything.

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I bet the cats look forward to you decorating the tree 🙂 Have a nice weekend!

  16. Fun answers as always! Sugar cookies are very addictive this time of year 🙂 I think I have finished my Christmas shopping as of this morning. I hope nothing else comes up because the stores are starting to get crazy busy!

  17. Our house looks as if Christmas threw up all over it. Mom is finally working on our cards. She just finished shopping today (on-line) and plans to start wrapping tomorrow. She hasn’t been to B&N in ages but loves their hot chocolate and chocolate cupcakes. Now she’s thinking a trip there this weekend would be nice. Joanie looks absolutely precious. 18. I really (really) need to lose weight.
My favorite Christmas decoration is an old ornament from my Godmother that is nearly impossible to break.
It’s beginning to look a lot like late November.
This time of year I eat my fair share of Christmas cookie decorations (M&Ms and Kisses and licorice and Red Hots and chocolate chips
I hate to admit it but I think a well-made sugar cookie is the best of all cookies. I pretty much started and finished my Christmas shopping on Amazon just now. Somehow got sucked into a discount membership but everything is supposed to be here by the 17th, so now it’s time to bake!

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I need to bake too, but I am not done shopping 🙂 Have a nice weekend!

  19. Mmmm….sugar cookies are one of my favorites! I haven’t had any yet this year, but I think my friend is bringing some over tonight….can’t wait!

  20. Fantastic fill-ins! I can especially relate to your #3. I was wrapping some gifts last night, and it looked like Santa’s workshop had exploded in my living room. Mmmm, now I’m craving sugar cookies. I made some shortbread cookies this weekend and saved some of the dough to make more for Christmas. I should make some sugar cookies, too. Merry wishes!
