Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I is thankful that Mom ordered my purple glasses online for me. My head is a little too small though.

This poem is for  Sammy’s Poetry Day based on this photo.

I think of many things when I see a river boat
I think of Twain and novels he wrote.
I think of Proud Mary, a great song,
not that Tina Turner got it wrong,
but CCR played it best
and of that I do not jest.
I needs to rest up now before The Great One gets here.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

1. I tried  __________________ and I liked it.

2. Am I the only one who ___________________?
3. _________ is my hero/heroine.
4. If I could eat only one food for the rest of my life, it would be ______

Don’t forget to comment on yesterday’s post for a chance to win a butterfly toy.

  1. That’s a super poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day – riverboats conjure up all kinds of exciting scenarios…..we have a bit of a story today too and some of Angel Sammy’s memories of the riverboat journey Scouts took! Have fun with THE GREAT ONE – you will need your rest I’m sure!

    Hugs, Teddy

  2. And Joanie gets her purple glasses! Good thing I don’t live close to you or you would find that they had gone missing… just the glasses. I would never take Joanie, although I would love to meet her. OhMyGosh… CCR… Bootleg! But YES to their Proud Mary, for sure!!!!!
How exciting that The Great One is coming!

  3. That is one terrific poem. We like that one a lot. Joanie, we like your new glasses even if they are a tiny bit big. That makes it even better. You all have a fabulous day.

  4. 1. I tried CURRY and I liked it!
    2. Am I the only one who HATES POLITICS RIGHT NOW??
    3. JOHN WAYNE is/was my hero but sadly passed before I could ever meet him. If I had a hero/heroine today, I guess it would be Ellen D…for the female and my dad for the male.
    4. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be SHRIMP DIABLO (shrimp stuffed with pepper and cheese, wrapped in bacon and grilled) yum!!!

    1. Thank you for your answers, I enjoyed them. Curry is good. I try to ignore politics.

  5. Joanie, calicoes and the color purple are two of my favorite things, so you in your purple glasses makes me so happy! Now, you rest up and get ready for a grand time with The Great One. Oh, and I love the way you worked that photo into such a fun poem. I can’t wait to find out how you fill in the fill-ins!

  6. I love your poem. I always do.

I love your new glasses too. Great color.

I’m all ready for Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. My best to your mom. ♥

  7. I do not recall reading ANY Mark Twain books! I know we had to read Huckleberry Finn in school, but am pretty sure I skimmed the Cliff’s Notes! Isn’t that silly, for a person who loves to read?!?

    1. I have a Cliff’s notes collection I started in high school- I only like to read what I choose to read 🙂

  8. You got really nice glasses. Purple is a good color.
We don’t have river boat like this in France. Too bad because I love this kind of boats. They look …. romantic.

  10. What cool glasses! And in my favorite color, too.

It’s been a while since i’ve been on a riverboat, i may have to remedy that soon.

  11. Those purple glasses are strikingly beautiful, but a tad too big:)

We like your poem. We bet it would be fun to ride on a riverboat.

  12. That was a really beautiful poem. We are so happy that your mom got you your purple sunglasses. Don’t worry you will grow into them. You look so cute taking your cat nap on the bed. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful Thankful Thursday.
