Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone. We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I am thankful that the deli worker called me miss instead of ma’am (I hate that word) and the man in front of me at the convenience store called me young lady. I felt old when just last week, a grocery store cashier called me madam. I felt like asking him if I look like I run a brothel?

And Bridget and Ethel are thankful for each other.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

2. ________________________ since ____________________.

4. _________ is my best advice for _________.

  1. Bridget and Ethel look so comfortable with each other.
I prefer miss or young lady too…I had to laugh at the thought of you running a brothel, LOL!!
Myself, I don’t mind the ma’am so much but I feel like I’m ancient when someone would call me Madam…
I guess they think they are being respectful, when they don’t know your name.

  2. You give mama such a tickle….madam, indeed! We laughed all morning, and mama has the same feeling about ‘Susan’ when she is NOT a Susan at all but a Suzanne. Love the two sweet kitties thankful for one another.

  3. What a cute pic of Bridget and Ethel. I don’t like being called ma’am or madam either. I guess if people don’t your name, they feel they don’t have a choice and are trying to be polite.

  4. If you ask if you look like you run a brothel … you would need to be prepared for a snarky answer … LOL … sorry couldn’t help myself! 😳😳

  5. Bridget and Ethel know it is always good to have a friend. They are both gorgeous as well. XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta & Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer, Kizmet, Audrey & Raleigh

  6. ‘Madam’ ??? Really??!
Bridget and Ethel are beauties for sure and they look so healthy, happy and well loved.
Remember, age is just a number.

  7. A man stopped my sister and I yesterday, telling us that ‘when you get old like me’ you’ll take pictures of everything, so you can 1) remember, and 2) embigify to see!

  8. In the South, Ma’am and Sir don’t mean you are old, simply that you are respected as an adult.

And always remember old is ten years older than whatever age you are now!

  9. Did you hear me giggling at run a brothel.
I went to new balance recently for new walking shoes. The dag blasted employee there kept calling me ‘friend ‘. In every sentences that came out of his mouth. friends they look good on you, friend do you want to wear them out if the store. I was about to call out my unfriendly alter ego

  10. Please don’t let words make you feel old. See these as signs of respect. ~nods~ And yes, we are getting older. But as I replied to your comment, we have each other. 😀 I wish we could meet in person. Hugs, my dear.

  11. Charlee: “Our Dada says he still remembers the first time somebody who wasn’t in the service industry called him sir! It was on an airplane and one of his fellow passengers said, ‘Excuse me, sir’ when he needed to get by.”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, sounds like a polite young man to me.”
Charlee: “Oh he was very polite. But still! SIR.”

  12. I found anytime someone calls me a “Young Lady” is by someone who’s obviously older than me. It makes me giggle inside. Being called “Ma’am” while respectful makes me feel old. Isn’t that funny? 🙂
