Hi everyone. We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.
I am thankful that the deli worker called me miss instead of ma’am (I hate that word) and the man in front of me at the convenience store called me young lady. I felt old when just last week, a grocery store cashier called me madam. I felt like asking him if I look like I run a brothel?
And Bridget and Ethel are thankful for each other.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.
1. I can’t ___________________ since ___________________.
2. ________________________ since ____________________.
3. _________ was my first ever job.
4. _________ is my best advice for _________.
Bridget and Ethel look so comfortable with each other.
I prefer miss or young lady too…I had to laugh at the thought of you running a brothel, LOL!!
Myself, I don’t mind the ma’am so much but I feel like I’m ancient when someone would call me Madam…
I guess they think they are being respectful, when they don’t know your name.
They love each other. I did feel ancient. 🙂 XO
Bridget and Ethel look so cute together! XO
Thank you. XO
You give mama such a tickle….madam, indeed! We laughed all morning, and mama has the same feeling about ‘Susan’ when she is NOT a Susan at all but a Suzanne. Love the two sweet kitties thankful for one another.
Thank you. Yes, that is rude . XO
Lovely photo of Bridget and Ethel. We have a neighbour who calls all women ma’am and I dislike it too. I don’t know why he sometimes calls me that as he perfectly well knows my name!
Thank you. That is odd being that he knows your name. XO
What a sweet, awwdorable picture of Bridget and Ethel😻 When you go to Ireland they all call you ‘Love’, no matter how young/old you are…MOL…Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day to all of you🐾😽💞
I don’t mind Love. XO
What a cute pic of Bridget and Ethel. I don’t like being called ma’am or madam either. I guess if people don’t your name, they feel they don’t have a choice and are trying to be polite.
Thank you. I would prefer nothing. XO
I’ll take ma’am over Honey, Sweetie, and Dear from teens. Madam, I know I would flat ask why they called me that.
I like all those terms. XO
Ma’am is slightly better than “hey yo!” 🙂
I guess. 🙂
If you ask if you look like you run a brothel … you would need to be prepared for a snarky answer … LOL … sorry couldn’t help myself! 😳😳
Very true. 🙂 XO
I don’t know. Sometimes I think if they call me “miss” they’re being condescending. Though madam is definitely a no unless they are English or something.
I will take condescending over madam. 🙂 XO
someone knows how to treat a customer service
Yes. 😉
Very nice photo of Ethel and Bridget. They look so happy together
Woos – Misty and Timber
Thank you. XO

Thank you. XO
‘Madam’ ??? Really??!
Bridget and Ethel are beauties for sure and they look so healthy, happy and well loved.
Remember, age is just a number.
Yes, really. Thank you. XO
A man stopped my sister and I yesterday, telling us that ‘when you get old like me’ you’ll take pictures of everything, so you can 1) remember, and 2) embigify to see!
That is odd. 🙂
Bridget and Ethel are beautiful.
I hate when I’m called ma’am too.
Thank you. XO
Adorable photo! Oh, I LOVE being called “miss”! It’s the best!
Thank you. Me too. XO
You should have told him you run a cat house. Great thankful though. Bridget and Ethel, you two sure are cute. Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
MOL I should have. Thank you. 🙂
I don’t like being called ma’am either. Sweet photo!
Thank you. XO
In the South, Ma’am and Sir don’t mean you are old, simply that you are respected as an adult.
And always remember old is ten years older than whatever age you are now!
Thank you. Apparently, I get a lot of respect. 🙂 XO
Did you hear me giggling at run a brothel.
I went to new balance recently for new walking shoes. The dag blasted employee there kept calling me ‘friend ‘. In every sentences that came out of his mouth. friends they look good on you, friend do you want to wear them out if the store. I was about to call out my unfriendly alter ego
Hugs cecilia
That sounds annoying too. XO
Please don’t let words make you feel old. See these as signs of respect. ~nods~ And yes, we are getting older. But as I replied to your comment, we have each other. 😀 I wish we could meet in person. Hugs, my dear.
Thank you. I wish we could too. I think we would have a lot of fun. XO
Charlee: “Our Dada says he still remembers the first time somebody who wasn’t in the service industry called him sir! It was on an airplane and one of his fellow passengers said, ‘Excuse me, sir’ when he needed to get by.”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, sounds like a polite young man to me.”
Charlee: “Oh he was very polite. But still! SIR.”
Excuse me would have been better. 🙂
I found anytime someone calls me a “Young Lady” is by someone who’s obviously older than me. It makes me giggle inside. Being called “Ma’am” while respectful makes me feel old. Isn’t that funny? 🙂
Yes, it is. Xo
I agree, ma’am is particularly annoying.
It sure is. 🙂
You can call me anything but “late for supper” as my beloved grandfather used to say. 😀 Be well, my dear.
Ha ha! I like that. 🙂 XO
Thank you. 🙂 WHen someone calls me miss, I am ready to kiss them. XO
